Choose based on the faction’s setting and, especially, which side your friends will play. NCSOFT’s global-launch instructions put character creation in this order: region, faction, then server; each server is faction-specific, while some PvP modes match paired Elyos and Asmodian servers.
Which faction is best in Aion 2?
Neither faction is established as objectively stronger, more populated, or faster to progress in the official material cited here. That makes “best” a matter of your preferred setting and social plans—not a documented combat advantage. NCSOFT describes Aion 2 as an evolution of the original game, but its announcements do not declare a mechanically superior faction (NCSOFT, June 4, 2025).
Should I choose Elyos or Asmodians?
Choose your friends’ faction first
If you want to play on the same server as friends, agree on faction before creating characters. NCSOFT’s October 5, 2026 global-launch notice says each server houses one faction and instructs players to select a region, then faction, then an available server. Check the official server and matchmaking notice when you create your character, since server listings can change.
Choose the setting you prefer
The factions start in separate regions. NCSOFT identifies Eltnen as Elyos territory and Morheim as Asmodian territory in its June 17, 2026 update. These are different starting settings and journeys; the announcement does not say either territory provides a lasting progression or combat edge.

Choose based on the PvP you want
If faction rivalry is part of the appeal, remember that cross-faction modes use paired servers. In the global-launch notice, NCSOFT says Elyos and Asmodian servers meet in shared spaces such as the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts, with opponents drawn from the matched server for a limited time. That is not the rule for every PvP activity: NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 description says Chaotic Abyss assigns server-level West and East forces regardless of race alignment, while Spacetime Rift retains race-based matchmaking.
Can Elyos and Asmodians play together?
The official launch notice describes Elyos and Asmodians meeting as opponents in cross-faction PvP, not as members of the same faction server. Since each server houses only one faction, coordinate your faction and server with friends if you want a shared server home. The cited announcement does not establish other ways for opposite-faction characters to group together.

Does faction affect class or stats?
The cited official announcements do not establish current faction-specific stat advantages or confirm complete class availability parity between the factions. NCSOFT’s June 2025 overview listed eight classes at that time—Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Marksman, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter—but that dated list is not a guarantee of the current roster or proof that every class is available to both factions. Check the current character-creation information before choosing if a particular class is decisive.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is not established about the faction choice?
- Population: The official sources cited do not provide current Elyos-versus-Asmodian population figures by region or server, so popularity claims are not a sound basis for choosing.
- Power and progression: They do not show that either side has better stats, win rates, or progression speed.
- Faction changes: The cited material does not resolve whether or how players can change faction. Do not assume a choice is reversible; check current official guidance before creating a character if flexibility matters.
These are limits of what the cited announcements establish, not proof that the game has no faction-change feature or that its systems will never change.
