What is AION 2?
AION 2 is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game and sequel in NCSoft’s AION franchise. NCSoft describes it as a continuation of the conflict between the Elyos and Asmodians. Its official materials promote customizable characters, manual combat, chained skills, flight and exploration, with PvE ranging from solo instances to large-scale raids. These are the publisher’s feature descriptions, not independent assessments of performance or quality.
NCSoft identifies Unreal Engine 5 as the game’s graphics technology. Executive Producer Seungwook Baek described the world in the November 18, 2025 launch announcement as one players can “walk, fly, and swim across everything you see”; that is a launch-era promotional statement, rather than a technical guarantee about every area or activity. What is the setting, and who are the factions?
The story is framed around two worlds and the long-running conflict between the Elyos and Asmodians. NCSoft’s sequel announcement says AION 2 retains that faction conflict from the original franchise. The official material establishes the factions as a central part of the setting, but does not, in the cited descriptions, provide a full account of their story or current in-game political situation.
What can you do in AION 2?
Customize a character and chain skills
NCSoft promotes character customization and manual combat. Its global site highlights chain skills, in which abilities can be linked, as part of combat. The official descriptions establish these as advertised features, but do not specify a complete class roster or detailed combat rules in the cited pages. Global feature overview
Fly and explore
Flight and terrain exploration are core advertised activities. NCSoft presents freedom of flight alongside exploration across the game world, rather than describing the game solely as a sequence of instanced fights.

Play PvE alone or with a group
The global site describes PvE ranging from solo instances to large-scale raids. Its teaser also lists Expedition dungeons designed for up to five players, including Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple and Draupnir. Use pets as companions and mounts
Official teaser materials say pets follow players, can transform into rideable mounts and may provide features such as auto-looting. A June 2026 NCSoft update said Auto-Loot would be made available for all pets in that service. That dated update does not establish that every region currently has identical pet features or settings. What platforms can you play AION 2 on?
Official global materials link to Steam, and NCSoft’s global Twitch Drops instructions describe linking a Steam account. Separately, NCSoft’s Korean download information describes PC installation through PURPLE and PC/mobile cross-platform play. The Korean information is specific to that service; it does not by itself establish that every platform or installation route is available in all global regions.

NCSoft publishes detailed PC and mobile requirements on its Korean download page. Treat the specifications below as requirements for the Korean service; the cited material does not confirm that they are the current requirements for the global service.

Is AION 2 free to play?
NCSoft’s Japanese service listing describes AION 2 as free to play with item purchases. In a June 2026 update, NCSoft announced that memberships in the service covered by that update would be consolidated into one tier with a reduced subscription price. The same update described server-wide sharing for certain costumes and pets. These sources establish that free access, item purchases and membership features have appeared in official service descriptions; they do not establish the current global membership price or a complete, current list of purchasable items.

AION 2 has a global service, but the available official global Drops information is not a complete list of countries where players can access the game. It says the campaign is for global-server players and excludes players on Korea and Taiwan servers; that is an eligibility rule for Twitch Drops, not a comprehensive territorial availability policy.
