What the first-20-minutes video covers
IGN describes its video as “Alan Wake 2: The Lake House DLC – First 20 Minutes of Gameplay.” That identifies the video’s stated scope, but its listing alone does not verify which scenes appear or establish a scene-by-scene account. View IGN’s video listing.

What The Lake House is about
The expansion is set at an FBC research station on the shore of Cauldron Lake. A catastrophic incident brings the facility’s research into contact with the Dark Place, and players take the role of agent Kiran Estevez. Remedy describes the expansion as a return to survival horror, with a multi-level facility, a new enemy, and the Black Rock Launcher. Remedy’s October 2024 announcement.
Estevez’s story runs parallel to the early part of the main game’s events. Lead writer Clay Murphy told Xbox Wire: “The Lake House tells the story of Agent Estevez’s visit to the Lake House facility, which takes place in parallel with the early part of [Alan Wake 2 co-protagonist] Saga’s story in Alan Wake 2. By the time Saga and Estevez meet, the story of this expansion has already occurred.” Xbox Wire’s interview with the developers.

Who you play, and how it connects to Control
Kiran Estevez is the playable character; Alan and Saga are not playable in this expansion. The FBC setting gives players its perspective on the strange events around Cauldron Lake and places the DLC within Remedy’s Connected Universe, which also includes Control. Lead writer Clay Murphy described it as “the perfect opportunity to analyze the strange phenomena of Cauldron Lake through the lens of the Federal Bureau of Control.” Epic Games Store interview.
Some teasers have prompted speculation about links to other FBC cases, but a teaser is not confirmation of a particular character or plot connection. The firm premise is Estevez’s investigation at the Lake House and the incident there.

How to access the expansion
The Lake House requires Alan Wake 2 and Deluxe access. Remedy says the digital and physical Deluxe Editions include the Expansion Pass, and digital Standard Edition owners can upgrade to Deluxe. Epic Games Player Support says the DLC is not included in Standard Edition and the two expansions cannot be purchased individually.

- Check your edition. If you own the digital or physical Deluxe Edition, its Expansion Pass includes The Lake House. If you own digital Standard Edition, use the Deluxe upgrade path.
- Open the expansion. Remedy’s FAQ says to select “Expansions” from the main menu, or access it during “Return 06.” Remedy’s launch announcement separately says players can start from the main menu or ask Estevez about the Lake House during the mission “Scratch.” These pages use different mission labels, so follow the access option shown in your game rather than treating the two mission names as interchangeable.
Remedy listed the physical Deluxe Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X. IGN’s listing identifies PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S as platforms for the expansion.
