There are 10 Dead Bolts in the Fadefields in Borderlands 4. How to find and track Dead Bolts on the map
Dead Bolts are small metallic collectibles with a blue outline. Their icons appear on the map as you approach. When an icon becomes visible, mark it to set a waypoint and follow the map’s guide line. The guide reports that unfound icons are blue and collected icons are green.

- Explore the subregion. Watch the map for collectible icons to appear as you get closer.
- Set a waypoint. Select a visible Dead Bolt icon to mark it and follow the guidance line.
- Check regional progress. Hover over a region on the map and press Square on PS5, X on Xbox, or F on PC, according to PowerPyx’s controls.
- Filter map icons if needed. The guide reports D-Pad Right on PS5 or Xbox, or B on PC, for filtering specific icon types.

Story access, cleanup, and shared progress
Some Dead Bolts and other collectibles may be in areas that require story progress, or be tied to side missions. The general guide recommends picking collectibles up during missions and activities, then returning for cleanup. It says free roam remains available after the story and side missions can be replayed; it does not specify which Fadefields Dead Bolts have a particular requirement.

Dead Bolt progress can also be part of Shared Character Progression, but what carries over depends on save settings and player context. In its March 26, 2026 update notes, Borderlands Support states: “Collectibles, Activities, Big Map Progress, SDU tokens, Vault Powers, Vehicle skins and Hover Drives are all part of the Shared Character Progression available in this update.” The same notes clarify that multiplayer players only receive map discovery for places they personally explored; revealed fast-travel locations still require campaign progress before they can be used.
