Wooden is the free starter tool, Stone is the first paid upgrade at $80, and Celestial is the top listed tier at $20Qa with 25B Power. Power speeds up egg breaking; it does not replace Speed or Trails for travel, treadmill progression, zone access, or escaping guards.
What pickaxes do in Break and Steal an Egg
Break and Steal an Egg is a Roblox simulation and tycoon game by ILGames x Eggs. Its core loop is to train Speed, travel to a zone you qualify for, break an egg, take the animal that hatches, and return it to the Safe Zone or your base to earn cash. Roblox describes the objective as breaking eggs to hatch rare animals, stealing the animals, placing them in a base for cash, and upgrading speed and pickaxe.

Pickaxe Power applies to the egg-breaking stage. Higher Power is intended to break tougher eggs faster. Movement is a separate system: Speed, treadmill progression, and equipped Trails affect how quickly you reach zones, carry animals home, and escape guards. Buying a stronger pickaxe therefore helps only when shell-breaking is the part of a run slowing you down.

Should you buy a pickaxe, Speed or Trails first?
Use the bottleneck that is limiting a complete run rather than automatically buying the next item in the price ladder.

- Egg-breaking bottleneck: Buy the next pickaxe when breaking the egg takes noticeably longer than the trip and return. The Power increase is designed to improve this stage.
- Movement bottleneck: Improve Speed, treadmill progression, or Trails when guards catch you, routes take too long, or you cannot reach the next zone requirement. A stronger pickaxe will not make your character travel faster.
- Economy bottleneck: Compare the next cash cost with the income from successful animal returns. If a purchase leaves you unable to fund the movement upgrades or access needed for better runs, keep earning with your current tool.
A practical upgrade route
- Train Speed enough to reach the zone available to you and make a reliable return.
- Equip the best pickaxe you can afford and break eggs in that zone.
- Steal the hatched animal and return it to the Safe Zone or base before guards stop the run.
- Track whether shell-breaking or travel is taking more time.
- Spend on the next pickaxe only when Power addresses the slower stage; otherwise prioritize Speed, treadmill progression, or Trails.
- Repeat the loop as your cash income rises through the Stone-to-Celestial progression.
Game status and availability
The official Roblox page snapshot indexed an October 14, 2026 update date, a seven-player server size, more than 124.8 million visits, and 118,800 active players at crawl time. Those figures are time-sensitive Roblox metadata, not permanent player-count guarantees. The game is presented as a Roblox title, so access and displayed values can change with later updates.
The Bottom Line
There are 18 listed pickaxes. Stone is the first paid upgrade at $80, while Celestial is the most expensive and powerful listed option at $20Qa and 25B Power. Choose between pickaxe Power and movement upgrades according to the part of each run that is actually slowing you down.
