There are 40 Heart Pieces in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Every four pieces add one heart, and Nintendo Life’s guide reports a maximum of 20 hearts; that count is separate from Heart Containers awarded by dungeon bosses. The checklist below follows Nintendo Life’s regional numbering, with landmark names to help match other guides, whose numbering can differ. [Nintendo Life, October 28, 2024]
How to use this Heart Piece checklist
Locations are grouped by region and landmark, not by a map number that will necessarily match another walkthrough. Most pieces are found through exploration; others require Echo-based traversal, a quest, a boss fight, a purchase, or a challenge. If a route is blocked, check whether you need a particular ability or to advance a quest. The locations and requirements below are guide-reported, not independently gameplay-tested.

Suthorn Prairie, Suthorn Forest, and Suthorn Beach
- Suthorn Beach, ocean ledge: From the first cave exit, head southeast to a stone platform. Get past the Sea Urchins and make a bridge across the water with Old Bed Echoes. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Suthorn Beach cave: At the bottom of the climbing wall, break the wooden boxes and reach the piece to the right. Zelda Dungeon suggests dropping a heavy object, such as a Rock Echo, onto the boxes. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Suthorn Village shop: Buy the piece for 80 rupees. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Suthorn Forest cave: Search the northeastern part of the forest for the cave. Inside, use a Caromadillo Echo to break boxes, then climb to the piece. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Suthorn Prairie pillar: Reach the pillar in the water. Zelda Dungeon lists several Echo-based routes, including a Platboom Echo. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
Gerudo Desert and Gerudo Town
- Northern Gerudo Desert: The piece is on a platform in quicksand. Use Echoes to reach raised ground, then drop onto the platform; Old Bed Echoes are one suggested route. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Southwest Gerudo Desert: Search the sand mounds in the southwest and clear them. Zelda Dungeon recommends a wind-producing Echo, such as Wind Cannon, Gustmaster, or Tornando. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Cave above Gerudo Town: Find the piece behind a large rock in the cave. Use Bind to move the rock. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Oasis, Mango Rush: Collect all 70 mangos on the Ultimate Seeds difficulty. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Gerudo Town, “Wild Sandstorms”: Defeat the Lanmola during this side quest; it drops the piece. Zelda Dungeon specifies the Blue Lanmola and provides quest progression details. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
Jabul Waters, Zora Cove, and nearby waters
- Pillar behind Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Den: Reach the top of the pillar to collect the piece. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Northern Jabul Waters waterfall: Look beneath a waterfall at the far north of the region. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Zora Cove underwater rock: On the eastern side of the cove, break the cracked rock on the seabed with a Bomb or Bombfish. Zelda Dungeon places its entry in the southeast of the cove. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- West Jabul Waters cave: In the hidden room, extinguish all the torches to open the way to the piece. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Wrecked Ship: Complete “The Zappy Shipwreck” side quest, which begins in Seesyde Village, and defeat its boss for the piece. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
Hyrule Field, Hyrule Castle Town, Kakariko, and the Eastern Temple
- Tree stump southwest of Hyrule Castle Town: Find the piece on a stump in a small grove. A Bed or Trampoline Echo can help you reach it. [Nintendo Life]
- Hyrule Field ruins: Look on the northeast pillar in the ruins west of Hyrule Castle. [Nintendo Life]
- West of Hyrule Ranch: Reach the tallest pillar in the water using beds or other climbing Echoes. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- West Kakariko hidden cave: Use a Holmill Echo on the dirt patch to uncover the entrance, then work through the boulders inside. [Nintendo Life]
- Boulder near the western cave: Move the large boulder with Bind to uncover the piece. [Nintendo Life]

- Kakariko Village, Slumber Dojo: Complete eleven stages for another piece. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Near Eternal Forest, Acorn Gathering: Gather 11 acorns in the challenge northeast of Kakariko. The timer requirement is inconsistent between guides: Nintendo Life says under 20 seconds, while the GameFAQs guide says under 25 seconds. Check the in-game challenge conditions rather than relying on either threshold as definitive. [Nintendo Life] [GameFAQs, Lanzz, updated November 7, 2024]
- Hyrule Castle Town, “An Out-There Zol”: Complete this side quest to receive the piece. [Nintendo Life] [GameFAQs]
- Eastern Temple, “Let’s Play a Game”: Defeat Smog during the quest to get the piece. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]

- Dark cave near Blossu’s House: Search inside the dark cave on the route to the house. [Nintendo Life]
- Deku Scrub Lockup: Find the piece inside the lockup near the route where Zelda retrieves the Tri Rod. The guides say it is possible to return after retrieving the Rod; Zelda Dungeon recommends retrieving it first. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
- Hidden Ruins, “Cotton-Candy Hunt”: Defeat the quest boss to earn the piece. Zelda Dungeon identifies the boss as Smog and notes quest prerequisites. [Nintendo Life] [Zelda Dungeon]
What to do if your count does not match
Walkthroughs can group or number the same locations differently, so use the named region and landmark rather than comparing item numbers alone. The Acorn Gathering timer is a documented point of disagreement: Nintendo Life’s 2024 guide gives under 20 seconds, while Lanzz’s GameFAQs guide, updated November 7, 2024, gives under 25. Treat the game’s own challenge display as the authority for the requirement in your playthrough.
