Shadow of the Erdtree adds eight Crystal Tears, and every one comes from defeating a Furnace Golem. The fastest way to plan a hunt is to match each Tear’s effect to its region, then use the right tactic for the golem: attack the legs of normal golems, but hit armored golems’ baskets from above with Hefty Furnace Pots.
All eight Shadow of the Erdtree Crystal Tear locations
Use this checklist to find the Furnace Golem tied to each Tear. The locations are region-level route anchors; the Rauh entry below does not have a more precise route established here.

| Crystal Tear | Furnace Golem location | Route and encounter note |
|---|---|---|
| Deflecting Hardtear | Gravesite Plain | Near Three-Path Cross and the first Miquella’s Cross, north of Scorched Ruins. This is the early, normal-type golem visible upon entering the DLC. |
| Viridian Hidden Tear | Ellac River | On the route toward the Southern Shore, near Ellac River Downstream. Reach the river route from the southern path through Gravesite Plain. |
| Glovewort Crystal Tear | Far west of Charo’s Hidden Grave | Armored golem; attack its basket from an elevated position. |
| Crimsonburst Dried Tear | Scadu Altus | At the soldier camp outside Shadow Keep. The golem is a normal type. |
| Cerulean-Sapping Cracked Tear | East Scadu Altus | Travel through Moorth Ruins and Bonny Village to reach the armored golem; use pots against its basket from elevation. |
| Oil-Soaked Tear | Lower Scadu Altus, near Castle Watering Hole | On the Ruins of Unte route. This is the active golem near Castle Watering Hole, not the inactive golem blocking the ruins entrance. |
| Bloodsucking Cracked Tear | Entrance to Ruins of Unte | The inactive golem blocking the entrance. Awaken it by throwing a Hefty Furnace Pot into its basket, then defeat it. |
| Crimson-Sapping Cracked Tear | West Rauh Ruins | The established location is West Rauh Ruins; a more specific route is not stated in the cited location guides. |
What each Crystal Tear does
Crystal Tears are mixed into the Flask of Wondrous Physick, which can combine two Tears for temporary effects. Choose a route according to the kind of encounter or exploration support you want.
- Deflecting Hardtear: strengthens spontaneous guarding and guard counters for a limited time.
- Viridian Hidden Tear: temporarily removes stamina consumption.
- Glovewort Crystal Tear: strengthens Spirit Ash attacks.
- Crimsonburst Dried Tear: steadily heals nearby allies.
- Cerulean-Sapping Cracked Tear: restores FP when attacks hit.
- Oil-Soaked Tear: coats nearby enemies with oil.
- Bloodsucking Cracked Tear: increases attack power while draining HP.
- Crimson-Sapping Cracked Tear: restores HP on attacks.
How to defeat Furnace Golems
Normal golems: stagger the legs
For a normal Furnace Golem, attack its legs until it staggers and falls, then move in for a critical strike. The Gravesite Plain golem that drops Deflecting Hardtear and the soldier-camp golem outside Shadow Keep are identified as normal types.

Armored golems: throw pots into the basket
Armored golems protect their legs, so leg attacks are not the method to rely on. Find an elevated position and throw Hefty Furnace Pots into the basket. This applies to the golems associated with Glovewort Crystal Tear and Cerulean-Sapping Cracked Tear. The inactive Ruins of Unte entrance golem must also be awakened with a Hefty Furnace Pot thrown into its basket before you can fight it.
Crafting Hefty Furnace Pots
Greater Potentate’s Cookbook 2, which provides the Hefty Furnace Pot recipe, is at the Run-Down Traveler’s Rest near Ellac Greatbridge in Gravesite Plain. The listed ingredients are Redflesh Mushroom, Ember of Messmer, and Furnace Visage.

There are two separate targets along the Ruins of Unte route, and they drop different Tears. The active golem near Castle Watering Hole in lower Scadu Altus drops Oil-Soaked Tear. The inactive golem blocking the ruins entrance drops Bloodsucking Cracked Tear after you awaken it with a Hefty Furnace Pot and defeat it.
Sources and scope
The eight-item count and location checklist are supported by PC Gamer’s Crystal Tear guide, Gameranx’s location guide, and Gamers.Wiki’s location guide. The specific West Rauh entry is given at region level rather than as a turn-by-turn route.
