In Donkey Kong Bananza, the Donkey Kong & Pauline amiibo unlocks Pauline’s Diva Dress early and produces explosive gold KONG tiles. Other compatible Donkey Kong amiibo and Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands produce the tiles; any other amiibo gives Donkey Kong a sphere of random material. The Diva Dress is also obtainable through normal game progress, so the figure is an early-access route rather than the only way to get it.
What each amiibo gives you
Nintendo documents three reward types: the Diva Dress, explosive gold KONG tiles, and a random-material sphere. Which reward appears depends on the amiibo you scan.

Can you get Pauline’s Diva Dress without amiibo?
Yes. Nintendo says the Diva Dress can be obtained by speaking to a character in the game and progressing without an amiibo. The Donkey Kong & Pauline figure therefore provides early access, not an otherwise unobtainable outfit. Nintendo compatibility page

Nintendo Life identifies the character as Collectone, whom players first encounter on the Resort Layer, and describes the outfit’s in-game route as post-game content. Treat that timing and character-specific detail as guide-level information; Nintendo’s compatibility page confirms the alternate route but does not specify when it becomes available. Nintendo Life also reports that the dress doubles the chance defeated enemies drop a Disc; Nintendo’s page does not confirm that effect. Nintendo Life’s guide
How to scan amiibo in Donkey Kong Bananza
- Start the game and, during regular gameplay, press + to open the pause menu.
- Select amiibo.
- Move to an open space with room for the material sphere to appear.
- Touch the amiibo to the controller’s NFC touchpoint. On Joy-Con 2, it is on the right control stick. On a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, it is above the Nintendo Switch 2 logo at the top center.
Nintendo Support notes that Joy-Con controllers can be used wirelessly only with Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch Pro Controller’s NFC is disabled while that controller is connected by wire. Nintendo Support’s scanning instructions

For the Donkey Kong & Pauline figure’s Diva Dress interaction, Nintendo Life says to speak to Collectone and follow the character’s instructions to scan the figure. That is a guide-specific detail, separate from Nintendo Support’s standard pause-menu scan steps. Nintendo Life’s guide

- Want the Diva Dress early? Use Donkey Kong & Pauline. You can also earn the dress through game progress.
- Want explosive KONG tiles? Use a compatible Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, or King K. Rool amiibo, or a Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong Power-Up Band.
- Have a different amiibo already? Scan it for the random-material sphere. The documented reward is an in-game object, not the outfit or KONG tiles.
