Black Ops 6 has a separate mastery-camo ladder for Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone, so earning a camo in one mode does not unlock the equivalent in another. Each mode has four tiers; to earn one for a weapon, complete that weapon’s Military and Special challenges, meet any broader weapon-set prerequisite for the tier, then finish its mastery challenge. Weapon leveling is not required.
What are all the Black Ops 6 mastery camos?
The order differs by mode. Activision’s progression guide confirms four mastery camos per mode and that each camo is earned individually for each weapon. Activision’s Black Ops 6 progression guide and the Call of Duty: NEXT overview list these ladders:

How does the Black Ops 6 camo unlock sequence work?
For each weapon and each mode, the route is Military camos, then Special camos, then the four mastery tiers. Military and Special challenges are specific to that weapon and mode. Higher mastery tiers add a prerequisite involving the previous tier on a required set of weapons; completing the target weapon’s challenge alone is not enough to bypass that requirement.

1. Complete the nine Military camos
Every weapon has nine sequential Military camo challenges. Camo challenges are available as soon as you obtain a weapon; you do not need to level it first. The common challenge type is headshots in Multiplayer, critical kills in Zombies, and eliminations in Warzone, but challenge types can vary by weapon.
For Multiplayer, the October 2024 Call of Duty guide gives these per-weapon headshot milestones:

These are milestones for each individual weapon, not shared unlocks: completing a Military camo challenge on one gun does not grant that camo on another.

2. Unlock both Special camos
Once all nine Military challenges are complete for a weapon in a mode, two Special camo challenges become available for that weapon. Each has its own condition, often tied to the weapon’s strengths or playstyle, and you can complete them in either order. Both are required before that weapon can earn its first mastery camo.
Special camos become universal cosmetics once earned, but that does not skip another weapon’s progression: the target weapon still needs its own nine Military camos completed and its Special category unlocked before you can equip one on it.
3. Earn the mastery tiers in order
For the first tier, finish the target weapon’s Military and Special challenges, then complete that weapon’s Tier 1 mastery challenge. For each later tier, first meet the prerequisite by earning the previous tier on the required number of weapons in the designated class or weapon set; then complete the new tier’s challenge on each weapon you are progressing.

For example, Call of Duty’s launch guide says Multiplayer Diamond access required Gold on seven Assault Rifles. Its 2024 launch-roster examples also cite 33 weapons for Dark Spine access after Diamond and 33 for Dark Matter access after Dark Spine. Those are launch-era examples, not a reliable current roster count: later updates may add weapons, and the launch article’s general Tier 4 description is inconsistent with its specific Dark Spine example. Check the live challenge menu for the exact current prerequisite rather than assuming the original 33-weapon figure still applies.

- Complete all nine Military camo challenges on the target weapon in Multiplayer.
- Complete both of that weapon’s Multiplayer Special camo challenges.
- Earn Gold on the required set of weapons to unlock Diamond access, then complete the Diamond challenge on each weapon you are progressing.
- Meet the current in-game prerequisite for Dark Spine, then complete its challenge on each target weapon.
- Meet the current in-game prerequisite for Dark Matter, then finish the Dark Matter challenge on the target weapon.
The launch guide’s seven-Assault-Rifle example applies to Multiplayer Diamond access. For Dark Spine and Dark Matter, consult the current in-game challenge display for the required weapon count; the guide’s 33-weapon examples describe the 2024 launch roster, not necessarily the present one.

What are the Zombies mastery camos in Black Ops 6?
Zombies’ four tiers are Mystic Gold, Opal, Afterlife, and Nebula. Work through the same progression shape on each weapon: its nine Military challenges, two Special challenges, and then the mastery challenges in tier order. Critical kills are the common Military challenge type in Zombies, though individual weapon challenges can differ. Each higher tier requires the preceding tier on a designated group of weapons before you can complete that tier for another weapon. Use the Zombies camo challenge screen for current weapon counts and the exact conditions.
How do you get Abyss in Warzone?
Abyss is Warzone’s fourth mastery camo. First complete the target weapon’s nine Warzone Military challenges and both Special challenges. Then progress through Gold Tiger, King’s Ransom, and Catalyst in order, satisfying each broader weapon-set prerequisite and the relevant challenge on the weapon before moving on to Abyss. Eliminations are the common Warzone Military challenge type, but the exact conditions and current weapon counts are shown in the in-game camo challenges.
Where can you check the current requirements?
Use the in-game camo challenge menu for the live roster, each weapon’s Special and mastery challenge wording, and the number of weapons required for higher tiers. The detailed Call of Duty progression blog was published in October 2024 and describes launch-era examples; it is useful for the listed Multiplayer Military milestones, but it should not be treated as a current weapon-count tracker.
