Phasmophobia has seven cursed possessions, and each has a fixed spawn point on a given map. On default difficulty, one possession is selected for each contract; custom settings can change how many are available. Use the map reference below to check likely locations, but treat directions as guide-based: map changes can make older location lists inaccurate.

How cursed possessions spawn

“Cursed object” is a familiar name for what the game and guides call a cursed possession. The seven are the Music Box, Ouija Board, Voodoo Doll, Haunted Mirror, Summoning Circle, Monkey Paw and Tarot Cards. Each has a dedicated spawn point on a map, but a contract does not necessarily contain all seven. On default difficulties, one is selected; custom settings can alter the number available. The community-maintained Phasmophobia Wiki describes their general mechanics.

The locations below follow Gamers Illustrated’s guide, updated August 15, 2026, which says it incorporates Willow Street changes, and GameSpot’s guide, published July 1, 2026. These are guide-reported locations, not official placement documentation or independent in-game verification. If a possession is not where expected, check the map’s current layout and newer guide information.

The objects are optional for ordinary objectives, but using them can affect sanity or provoke dangerous hunts. Their effects differ: for example, the Mirror shows the ghost room, the Board lets you ask questions, and the Summoning Circle draws the ghost to it. For activation details, consult a current guide and weigh the risk before use.

The retrieved guides agree on the broad search area: all seven possessions spawn in or cluster around the Chapel. They do not align reliably on item-by-item landmarks, so use the Chapel as the starting point rather than relying on an unverified precise placement.
