Oblivion Remastered has four commonly identified major factions: the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood. That is not the same as a complete list of every organization tied to a quest or story. The Arena, expansion orders, and temporary alliances widen the picture, so this guide separates formal guilds from other faction-like groups instead of presenting one unsupported “all factions” total.
What counts as a faction?
In guides to Oblivion, “faction” can mean a major guild with a substantial questline, a quest-linked order, an Arena affiliation, or even a temporary alliance or infiltration. Those categories are not interchangeable: cooperating with a group during a story does not necessarily mean joining it as a lasting member.
The four major factions commonly named by guides are the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood. Other guides use a broader scope that includes the Arena, the Knights of the Nine, the Order of the Virtuous Blood, the Blackwood Company, and the Mythic Dawn. Because those lists mix persistent organizations with quest-linked and temporary affiliations, there is no authoritative total established here for “all” factions.

Other faction-related groups
Arena
The Arena appears in broader faction guides, but the available sources do not establish its membership rules, ranks, or how its affiliation compares with the four major guilds. Treat it as a faction-related activity rather than assuming it is another guild of the same kind.
Knights of the Nine
The Knights of the Nine are tied to the Knights of the Nine story expansion. Bethesda confirms that this expansion is included with Oblivion Remastered. Bethesda’s game page

Order of the Virtuous Blood
Some broader guides list the Order of the Virtuous Blood among faction-related organizations. The cited material does not establish its membership conditions or whether it has persistent player membership, so it is best treated as quest-linked rather than counted as a major guild.
Temporary and story-only affiliations
Broader faction guides also identify the Blackwood Company and Mythic Dawn as temporary affiliations. That distinction matters: a story may involve cooperation, infiltration, or a short-lived connection without offering the same lasting membership as a guild. The available sources do not verify specific joining steps or outcomes for either group. The Filibuster Blog’s broader faction guide

How to use this list
- For a concise list of the four major guild factions, use Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood.
- For a broader overview, also consider the Arena and quest-linked groups such as the Knights of the Nine and Order of the Virtuous Blood.
- Keep the Blackwood Company and Mythic Dawn separate as temporary story affiliations rather than treating them as equivalent to persistent guild membership.
- Do not infer exact join requirements, ranks, or quest outcomes from a group’s inclusion in a general faction list; those details are not established by the cited sources.
