There are 22 Kuji-kiri locations across nine regions in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, according to PowerPyx’s dedicated checklist. Use the region-by-region list below to find them. Kuji-kiri is a Naoe-only meditation activity; the first four completions trigger short story quests, and PowerPyx says the locations remain available after the story.

How Kuji-kiri works
Kuji-kiri is Naoe’s meditation activity. Interact with a site and follow the on-screen button sequence; Gamepressure notes that the sequence varies by location. Ubisoft describes Naoe’s meditation as a way to focus and learn more about her life and backstory.
Story progression and availability
PowerPyx says the first four Kuji-kiri you complete each trigger a short quest from Naoe’s past. Completing four is required to advance Naoe’s story through Act 3 and the epilogue. The guide also says the sites remain obtainable in free roam after the story.

PowerPyx provides a consistent checklist of 22 individually named entries. Gamepressure’s region summaries and embedded map-marker names do not align consistently with that list. The available guides do not establish whether the differences come from naming, guide errors, or different versions, so use the in-game map and activity state to resolve a disputed label rather than assuming a particular cause.

Ubisoft’s general exploration guidance says the world map reveals more detail as you explore, viewpoints reveal nearby points of interest, and Pathfinder can guide you toward a tracked quest or a manual map marker. That overview does not specify how or when Kuji-kiri markers themselves appear.
