There is no verified official, current complete monster roster for Content Warning. Beebom’s October 15, 2025 guide lists 25 creatures, but that is the guide’s count—not a confirmed in-game total. Names also vary between guides. Use the cues and responses below as practical guide claims, not guaranteed or officially confirmed mechanics.

How to use this monster guide

In the Old World, the useful question is not simply whether to run: it is what warning cue you noticed, what the creature can do, and whether you can counter it alone or need help. The published tactics below come from community guides, not firsthand testing or an official mechanics reference. A removed Steam Community guide is marked incompatible with the game, so its claims deserve particular caution.

Beebom’s guide, updated October 15, 2025, reports a roster of 25 monsters. That list is source-specific; coverage and naming differ across guides, and it should not be treated as the definitive total.

Monsters with specific escape tactics

Flicker

Warning cue: Lights flicker. Danger: The creature’s appearance can draw your attention, but the community guide warns against staring at it. Response: Look down or back away rather than keeping your gaze on it. This advice comes from the removed Steam guide.

Iron Maiden (Weeping)

Warning cue: A teammate is trapped by the Iron Maiden, also called Weeping. Danger: The captive has a short window to escape. Response: A teammate must solve the CATCHYA captcha before the timer expires; the guides say multiple attempts may be available, but the window is limited.

Slurper (Roof Monster) / Ceiling Star

Warning cue: Look above you for a ceiling creature; the names Slurper, Roof Monster, and Ceiling Star appear across the guides, but the naming is inconsistent. Danger: It can grab a player beneath it. Response: A teammate can throw an object at the creature to release the trapped player, according to both reviewed guides. Keep a throwable item accessible when exploring with others.

Gundog

Warning cue: Beebom identifies a red laser or sensor line. Danger: Being in its line of sight puts you at risk of detection. Response: Avoid crossing or lingering in the beam; break line of sight and move out of its path.

Whisker

Warning cue: It locks onto you before charging. Danger: A direct charge can catch a player who keeps retreating in a straight line. Response: Beebom advises moving aside near a wall after the lock-on so the charge hits the wall and briefly stuns it. Use that opening to flee.

Snail (Zombie)

Warning cue: The guides describe it as slow-moving. Danger: It can grab you if it closes the distance. Response: Walk away while you can; if grabbed, Beebom recommends using movement, jump, and crouch inputs. The removed Steam guide also suggests juking around obstacles.

Logitech G F310 Wired Gamepad Controller Console - Blue/Black
  • With broad game support, the Logitech Gamepad F310 works with old standbys to today's biggest titles, so it's easy to set up and use with your favorite games.
  • Profiler software allows the gamepad to be programmed to perform keyboard and mouse commands for games without gamepad support.* * Requires software installation.
  • A familiar control layout that doesn't require a learning curve to be able to use, with all the same buttons as on an Xbox 360.
  • The unique floating D-pad rests on four switches-instead of a single pivot point-making it responsive to quick changes in direction.
  • The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.

Spider

Warning cue: Watch for webs in your route. Danger: Webs slow your movement and can leave you exposed. Response: Preserve stamina so you can move and jump away instead of spending it all before you need to escape.

Snatcher (Snatcho)

Warning cue: It approaches or begins to close in. Danger: It can snatch a player who does not respond. Response: Both guides describe light as a deterrent; Beebom specifically recommends using a flashlight when it approaches. The evidence is guide-based, not an official confirmation of the mechanic.

Names in the published 25-monster list

Beebom’s October 15, 2025 guide lists these 25 names. The list is useful for recognizing guide terminology, but it is not a verified official roster; the sources disagree on aliases and coverage.

Names and tactics that need extra caution

The removed Steam guide uses alternate labels including Grabber Snake, Knife Ghost, Ceiling Star, Blender Head, Tall Man, and Gravity Monster. Because that guide is marked incompatible with Content Warning, treat those as unverified guide terminology rather than a reliable second roster. Where an alias seems to match a creature in another guide—such as Ceiling Star and Slurper—the identification remains uncertain.

For monsters without a specific, sufficiently supported escape response above, do not assume another creature’s counter will work. The available guides do not establish reliable escape instructions for every name in the 25-entry list.
