To run an All of Create: Aeronautics multiplayer server, use the pack’s dedicated server ZIP for the exact release you want, NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, and Java 21. Start with about 8 GB of server memory for a small group, increase toward 10–12 GB as more players and flying contraptions are active, and make every client use the identical Minecraft, NeoForge and modpack versions. Self-hosting gives you file-level control but requires firewall and router work; managed hosting removes most network setup.

What All of Create: Aeronautics is built for

All of Create: Aeronautics is a Minecraft 1.21.1 modpack centered on Create machinery, aircraft, airships and other physics-driven contraptions. WiseHosting’s 2026 overview describes more than 50 Create addons, a quest system and over 438,000 downloads at the time it was crawled. Those counts and the available pack releases can change, so treat them as a snapshot rather than a permanent specification.

The important server implication is that a flying machine is not just a collection of stationary blocks. Moving contraptions are simulated as active physics bodies and can keep chunks loaded while they travel. A modern CPU and an SSD are therefore sensible, especially when several players are operating aircraft at once. RAM helps, but it cannot compensate for excessive numbers of active contraptions or a weak processor.

Requirements before you install

  • Minecraft Java Edition on each player’s computer.
  • A dedicated server computer or a managed Minecraft host.
  • NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
  • Java 21. ModReady states that the pack targets NeoForge 1.21.1 and requires Java 21.
  • The All of Create: Aeronautics server pack for the exact release you intend to run.
  • Router administration access only if people outside your local network will connect to a self-hosted server.

Keep the server and client installations separate. A launcher export intended for playing the pack is not the same thing as the dedicated server package. Downloading the wrong archive is one of the most common causes of missing files and startup errors.

How much RAM should the server have?

Use these figures as starting allocations, not guarantees. WiseHosting’s 2026 guidance gives the following ranges:

Concurrent players Starting server allocation Source qualification
1–2 8 GB WiseHosting guidance
3–6 10 GB WiseHosting guidance
7–15 12 GB WiseHosting guidance

ModReady gives a broader starting range of 8–10 GB for All of Create — Aeronautics. Allocate only what the machine can spare: the operating system, Java overhead and a player’s client also need memory. If the computer has 16 GB total, assigning 12 GB to the server can leave too little for the desktop and client. Watch the server log and operating-system memory use while testing rather than treating the table as a promise of a particular tick rate.

Self-hosting or managed hosting?

Choose self-hosting when you want direct access to every file and are comfortable maintaining Java, NeoForge, backups, firewall rules and router forwarding. Choose a managed host when you prefer a control panel and want the machine, network exposure and routine maintenance handled for you.

Decision point Self-hosted server Managed server
Initial setup Download, extract and run the server package; install Java and configure the firewall and possibly the router. Install the pack from the provider’s modpack panel, then start it.
File and configuration control Direct control of the world, mods, scripts, JVM arguments and server.properties. Control through the provider’s panel and file tools; exact access varies by provider.
Home-network exposure Internet players require a forwarded TCP port and an allowed firewall rule. The provider supplies the public endpoint, so your home router is not exposed.
Backups and DDoS protection You must create and verify your own backups and security controls. Some providers advertise backups and DDoS protection; confirm what is included before paying.
Changing pack versions You control when to replace the server files, but must perform the migration safely. A panel can simplify installation, although available versions depend on the provider.

Vendor features change. WiseHosting documents a panel flow that uses Modpacks, a CurseForge filter and an All of Create Aeronautics entry, and advertises 24/7 operation. ModReady advertises preconfigured NeoForge 1.21.1, Java 21, JVM flags, dependencies, backups and DDoS protection. FadeHost advertises automatic installation, an 8 GB free trial and client installation through Modrinth or another launcher, while stating that it is not affiliated with Mojang or the pack authors. Verify current availability, limits and terms directly with any provider.

Install a self-hosted server

1. Download the correct server pack

  1. Open the All of Create: Aeronautics page on CurseForge.
  2. Open the pack’s Files area and check Additional Files if necessary.
  3. Download the server-pack ZIP for the exact version you want. Do not substitute a client export.

Write down the pack version, Minecraft version and NeoForge version shown for that release. You will use the same combination when installing clients and when diagnosing connection errors.

2. Create a clean server directory

  1. Create a short, dedicated folder such as CreateAeronauticsServer on the SSD.
  2. Extract the ZIP into that folder rather than into your launcher’s profile directory.
  3. Keep world saves, logs, configuration files and the original ZIP in this separate location so a client update cannot overwrite the server accidentally.

3. Run the supplied installer or start script

  1. Open the extracted folder and run the included start.bat or installer script.
  2. Leave the window open while NeoForge and required libraries download. The first run can take longer because it builds the server installation.
  3. If a download is interrupted, run the script again. A second run commonly completes files that were not received during the first attempt.

Run the script from the server folder. Starting it from another working directory can make relative paths point to the wrong place.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Select and verify Java 21

Install Java 21 and make sure the script uses that installation. In a terminal, run:

java -version

The output should identify Java 21. If it reports an older runtime, update the system path or edit the script so it points to the Java 21 executable. NeoForge 1.21.1 is the pack’s target; mixing a different Minecraft or NeoForge generation is not a supported shortcut.

5. Accept the EULA and finish the first launch

  1. Run the script once and wait for it to create the initial files.
  2. When Minecraft’s EULA prompt appears, open eula.txt, read the terms and change the acceptance value as required to agree.
  3. Run the script again.
  4. Wait for the log to report Done before attempting to connect.

Allow the Java server through the operating-system firewall if people on another machine will connect. Use the console command stop to shut down; closing the window or killing Java can interrupt a world save.

6. Set a sensible memory limit

The supplied installation normally includes user_jvm_args.txt or a start script where JVM arguments can be edited. For a small group, begin with:

-Xmx8G

Move toward -Xmx10G or -Xmx12G only when your total system memory and player count justify it. Keep free memory for the operating system and the client running on the same machine. Increasing the heap does not fix a CPU-bound physics simulation, and an oversized heap can make the host less responsive.

Configure the world before inviting players

Most routine gameplay settings live in server.properties. Set the game mode, difficulty, view distance, simulation distance and player limit there. Stop the server first, edit the file, save it and restart; settings changed while the process is running may not take effect until the next launch.

  • View distance: controls how far terrain is sent to clients and affects network and chunk work.
  • Simulation distance: controls how far entities and mechanisms continue ticking; lowering it can reduce background work.
  • Player limit: prevents an unexpected crowd from consuming the resources sized for a smaller group.
  • Game mode and difficulty: establish the intended rules before the first shared world is created.

Make a backup of the world folder and configuration files before changing settings or updating the pack. Test changes on a copy when possible, particularly if aircraft are already in flight.

Test the server locally

  1. Start the server and wait for the Done message.
  2. Launch the matching modpack client.
  3. Open Multiplayer, choose Add Server and enter localhost as the address when the client is on the same computer.
  4. Join and verify that the world loads, a Create machine can be placed and the server console continues ticking without repeated errors.
  5. Stop the server with stop and inspect the log if the test fails before attempting internet access.

Testing locally separates installation problems from router problems. A successful localhost connection proves that the Java, NeoForge, pack and world installation can work together; it does not prove that outside players can reach your network.

Let friends connect over the internet

For a self-hosted server, forward TCP port 25565 from the router to the computer running the server. ModReady identifies 25565 as the port for remote Minecraft connections.

  • Players match colors and numbers to the card on top of the discard pile as in the classic game.
  • The Creeper card unique to this deck forces other players to draw 3 cards.
  • Makes a great gift for kid, teen, adult and family game nights with 2 to 10 players ages 7 years and older, especially Minecraft and video game fans.
  1. Give the server computer a stable local IP address, preferably through the router’s DHCP reservation feature.
  2. Create a router forwarding rule for TCP port 25565 to that local IP and the same port.
  3. Create or enable an operating-system firewall rule allowing the Java server on TCP 25565.
  4. Start the server and test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot. Testing from inside the same home network can give misleading results on routers without NAT loopback.
  5. Share the public address only with the people who should play. Do not expose additional administration ports.

Port forwarding exposes a service on your home network. Keep NeoForge, the pack and the operating system updated, use a dedicated server account where practical, and remove the forwarding rule when the server is no longer needed. A managed host avoids this home-router configuration.

Make every client match

Every player must install All of Create: Aeronautics in a launcher such as CurseForge and select the exact release running on the server. The Minecraft version, NeoForge version and modpack version must all match. WiseHosting notes that a client/server pack mismatch produces a connection error.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not let one player update the pack independently while the server remains on the previous release. If a player cannot join, compare these three values character by character before changing anything else:

  • All of Create: Aeronautics release number.
  • Minecraft version: 1.21.1.
  • NeoForge version required by that release.

A client-only mod accidentally copied into the server’s mods directory can also prevent startup. The server should use the files supplied for dedicated-server operation, not an arbitrary copy of a player’s profile.

Performance tuning for aircraft and moving contraptions

Expect heavier CPU use than on a lightweight vanilla server. Problems often become visible when players take off because aircraft increase per-tick physics work and may load new chunks as they move.

When lag appears during flight

  • Reduce the number of simultaneously active aircraft and large moving contraptions.
  • Limit very large structures that move as one body.
  • Ask players to park or disassemble unused aircraft rather than leaving them running indefinitely.
  • Pregenerate terrain where practical so exploration does not combine chunk generation with physics calculations.
  • Check CPU and memory usage while reproducing the problem; adding RAM will not resolve a processor that is already saturated.

Change one factor at a time and observe the server log and tick behavior. A lower view or simulation distance can reduce background work, but it does not replace sensible limits on active machines.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Storage and maintenance

An SSD shortens world and library I/O compared with a hard disk, which matters when moving machines trigger chunk loads. Keep free disk space for the world, logs and backups. Stop the server cleanly before copying a save. Retain at least one backup made before every pack update and another backup from a known-good running state.

Troubleshoot common failures

The server closes immediately or reports a missing mod

  1. Confirm that the server was extracted from the dedicated server ZIP for the intended release.
  2. Confirm that Java reports version 21.
  3. Check that Create and Sable are present and compatible. ModReady identifies both as Aeronautics dependencies.
  4. Read the first missing-mod or version line in the log rather than the final cascade of errors.
  5. Rerun the supplied installer script if a library download was interrupted.

Do not download random replacement JARs from unrelated releases. Dependency versions are tied to the pack release; replacing one file can create a second incompatibility.

A player gets a version or handshake error

  1. Compare the client and server pack release numbers.
  2. Compare Minecraft 1.21.1 and the NeoForge version.
  3. Remove client-only additions from the server and ensure the player’s launcher is using the pack profile rather than a vanilla profile.
  4. Restart both client and server after correcting files.

Localhost works but remote players cannot connect

  1. Confirm the server is listening and that the firewall allows Java on TCP 25565.
  2. Check the router rule points to the server’s current local IP, not an old DHCP address.
  3. Verify that the rule is TCP and uses port 25565 on both sides.
  4. Test from a genuinely external network.
  5. If router configuration is unavailable or your internet service blocks inbound connections, use a managed host instead of exposing the home machine.

The server lags only after takeoff

Reduce active aircraft and very large moving structures first, then consider lower simulation distance and terrain pregeneration. Record which contraption was active when the lag began; this gives you a reproducible case instead of guessing at memory settings.

Use a managed host when you want less networking work

A managed installation is still a modded server: players must match the pack and the host must run the correct NeoForge and Java versions. The difference is operational. In WiseHosting’s documented panel flow, you choose Modpacks, filter to CurseForge, select All of Create Aeronautics, install and start. ModReady advertises a preconfigured NeoForge 1.21.1 environment with Java 21, JVM flags, dependencies, backups and DDoS protection. FadeHost advertises automatic installation of the Create Customised [Aeronautics] pack, an 8 GB free trial and matching client installation through Modrinth or another launcher.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These are provider claims, not guarantees of current capacity or pricing. Before ordering, verify the exact pack release available, allocated CPU and RAM, backup retention, restore procedure, access to server.properties, version-change controls and any limits on world size or active players.

Updating the pack without losing the world

  1. Announce downtime and stop the server with stop.
  2. Copy the complete world folder, server.properties, config directory and any scripts to a dated backup location.
  3. Record the current Minecraft, NeoForge and pack versions.
  4. Install the new server pack in a separate directory or preserve the old directory until the new one is proven.
  5. Apply the new release’s files and dependencies; do not blindly merge old JARs into the new mods folder.
  6. Start the updated server and wait for Done. Test with one matching client before inviting everyone back.
  7. If the world fails to load or a dependency error appears, stop the process and restore the known-good files and backup.

Players should update their launcher profiles only after the server has been tested. Keeping the previous server directory makes rollback much safer than trying to reconstruct a working installation from memory.

Pre-launch checklist

  • Java 21 is installed and java -version confirms it.
  • The server pack, Minecraft and NeoForge versions are recorded and match the client profile.
  • Create and Sable dependencies are present for the selected release.
  • The memory limit fits the host’s total RAM; 8 GB is a reasonable small-group starting point.
  • The server reaches Done and shuts down with stop.
  • Localhost testing succeeds before router troubleshooting begins.
  • Firewall and TCP 25565 forwarding are configured only when internet play is required.
  • A world backup exists before the first public session and before every update.
  • Players know which exact pack release to install.

The Bottom Line

The reliable formula is simple: dedicated server pack, NeoForge 1.21.1, Java 21, an 8–12 GB memory budget sized to the group, and exact client/server version matching. Add careful limits on active aircraft, clean backups and a correctly secured TCP 25565 rule if you self-host.
