To host waccyy’s Fantasia with friends, run the Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge release on either a managed host with CurseForge installation or your own machine. A managed server is usually the fastest route: select the pack from the provider’s modpack installer, allocate enough memory, and give every player the identical Minecraft, Forge, and pack versions. Self-hosting avoids a recurring server bill but leaves you responsible for Java, networking, updates, backups, and troubleshooting.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
What waccyy’s Fantasia requires
CurseForge describes waccyy’s Fantasia as “A modpack aiming to capture the immersive fantasy RPG experience like the Elder Scrolls games.” It is an adventure and RPG pack with exploration, multiplayer, combat/PvP, and quest content. The project identifies Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge loader as its supported combination.

The current release information in the project listing is unusually important when you create a server. The files page names Fantasia Beta 11.9h.zip as the latest 1.20.1 Forge release dated June 4, 2026; the project page also shows an update dated August 8, 2026. Check the official project page immediately before installing because a server and its players must use one exact release, not merely the same Minecraft major version.
The project page snapshot records 305,022 total downloads. That number indicates interest, not a tested player capacity or a performance guarantee. No independent benchmark or authoritative maximum-player figure is published, so size your server from your own player count, exploration habits, and monitoring rather than from the download total.

Pick managed hosting or self-hosting
Both approaches can work. The practical difference is who operates the machine after installation.

| Route | Best for | You handle | What to verify before ordering or installing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Managed Minecraft host | Friends who want the least setup and a web control panel | Player permissions, configuration, updates, and in-game administration | CurseForge/Forge 1.20.1 support, available memory, backups, location, upgrade policy, custom configuration, and whether a server pack is included |
| Self-hosted computer or VPS | Administrators comfortable with Linux or Windows operations | Java and Forge installation, firewalling, port forwarding, uptime, backups, updates, monitoring, and recovery | CPU performance, upload bandwidth, public reachability, storage for the world and backups, and permission to run a public game server |
A rental host converts hardware and networking work into a monthly bill. Self-hosting converts that bill into your own electricity or VPS cost and your own maintenance time. Neither route has a guaranteed player count for this pack.

Managed-host installation
Providers expose slightly different panels, but the documented CurseForge workflow is consistent. PLAYNHOST’s published procedure is a useful example of the sequence rather than a requirement to use that provider.
- Order a Minecraft server. Select a plan with enough memory for the number of concurrent players and the amount of exploration you expect. Leave room for the operating system and the Java process instead of allocating every available megabyte.
- Open the Modpacks tab. In the server control panel, choose the modpack installation area rather than uploading random client files.
- Select CurseForge. Use the panel’s CurseForge catalog, then search for waccyy’s Fantasia. Confirm that the result is the Forge project for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Choose the exact release. Select the release your players will install. If you choose Fantasia Beta 11.9h, record that decision in your group chat so nobody installs a different beta or an older profile.
- Install and let the panel finish. Do not start the server while files are still being extracted. A successful installation should leave the Forge server files, the pack’s configuration, and a start control in the panel.
- Start once and read the console. Watch for a normal Forge startup and a completed world load. Stop if the panel reports missing files, an invalid Java runtime, or a loader/version error; changing RAM will not repair a mismatched release.
- Set administration controls. Add your operator account, configure a whitelist if the server is private, and create a backup before inviting players.
- Send connection details privately. Give friends the address and port shown by the host panel, not your panel password or file-manager credentials.
WinterNode states that it preinstalls the pack and its Forge mods and recommends 8GB. Game Host Bros advertises one-click Forge 1.20.1 deployment, an included server pack, and 8GB or more. GhostCap advertises one-click installation but lists a 16GB minimum recommendation. These are provider statements, not an official memory requirement from the modpack author.
How much RAM should the server have?
The project page does not publish a minimum or recommended server allocation. The figures below are starting points published by individual hosting providers in 2026, so treat them as plan guidance rather than a specification.

| Provider guidance | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| PLAYNHOST | 6GB starting point | A lower starting allocation for a small installation; monitor before adding players or increasing simulation load. |
| WinterNode | 8GB recommended | A practical baseline for a small group according to that host’s page. |
| Game Host Bros | 8GB or more | Its advertised tier leaves room above the baseline when the workload grows. |
| GhostCap | 16GB minimum recommended | A more conservative provider recommendation, not proof that every installation needs 16GB. |
For a small private group, begin around 8GB and observe the server. Increase the allocation when concurrent players, long view distances, rapid world generation, large entity populations, or several dimensions produce pauses, watchdog warnings, or consistently exhausted memory. More RAM cannot compensate for a slow CPU, a bad mod/version match, or an overloaded disk.
What to monitor
- Java heap usage over a normal play session, including exploration rather than only time spent at a base.
- Server tick stability and console warnings during chunk generation.
- Player count at the same time as entity-heavy farms, villages, or combat events.
- Storage space for the world, logs, backups, and temporary update files.
Increase memory in measured steps and retest. Avoid selecting a plan solely because it advertises the largest number; CPU generation speed and the host’s geographic distance can matter just as much to playability.
Install the matching client profile
Every player must run the same Minecraft version, Forge loader, and pack release as the server. GDLauncher documents a quick-install path for this pack:

- Create a new instance in GDLauncher.
- Choose Forge and Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Open Addons, select Add Addons, and paste
#waccyys-fantasia. - Download the result and launch the instance once before connecting.
- In the instance details, confirm the displayed pack release matches the server’s selected release.
If you use another launcher, import the official release or server-provided files through that launcher’s supported method. Do not assume that copying a client folder to the server is valid: the available documentation does not provide a complete client-only versus server-required mod manifest.

Version checklist for players
- Minecraft: 1.20.1.
- Loader: Forge, not Fabric or an unmodded profile.
- Pack release: exactly the one selected on the server.
- Java runtime: the version required by the Forge 1.20.1 installation and the launcher profile.
- Configuration files: let the pack or launcher generate them rather than mixing files from another release.
Self-hosting the server
Self-hosting follows the same compatibility rule but adds operational work. The available release listing identifies the official ZIP and the 1.20.1 Forge pairing; it does not publish a complete command-by-command server-pack manual or a definitive manifest of every file that belongs on the server. Use the release’s official instructions and inspect the files you obtained instead of guessing.
- Choose a machine. Use a computer or VPS that can remain online, has adequate CPU headroom, sufficient storage for the world and rotating backups, and reliable upload bandwidth.
- Obtain the official release. Download the selected version from the project’s official CurseForge listing. Keep the filename and release date in your notes so you can reproduce the installation.
- Install the matching Forge server. Use the Forge 1.20.1 installer or server package associated with the selected release. Follow the installer’s instructions for the operating system instead of mixing loader versions.
- Install Java correctly. Use the Java version required by your Forge 1.20.1 build and verify it from the server startup output. A server that immediately exits with an unsupported-class or runtime error needs a Java correction before any mod troubleshooting.
- Place the server files. Keep the installation in a dedicated directory. Do not run it from a personal downloads folder that is included in cloud-sync or automatic cleanup jobs.
- Start once, then accept the EULA. The first launch normally creates configuration files and an EULA file. Read the EULA, set its acceptance exactly as required, and start again only after doing so.
- Configure the world and access policy. Set the server name, difficulty, view and simulation distances, operator list, and whitelist according to your group’s needs. Change one setting at a time so a later problem has an identifiable cause.
- Allow the server through the host firewall. Permit the Minecraft server process and the port configured in
server.properties. On a home network, forward that same port from the router to the host machine; use a reserved local address so the rule does not break after a reboot. - Test locally and externally. Connect from the host or local network first, then have a friend on a different network test the public address. If local access works but external access fails, inspect router forwarding, the operating-system firewall, carrier-grade NAT, and the address you shared.
- Automate safe operation. Run the server under a service or scheduled task, keep logs, and arrange a clean stop before maintenance. A terminal window left open is not a backup or an uptime plan.
Do not publish a private server ZIP for convenience. Direct players to the official project and release listing, and preserve the release’s licensing terms.
Best Value
- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Networking and security essentials
- Use a whitelist for a friends-only world and grant operator rights only to people who need them.
- Never expose the control-panel password, SSH credentials, or file-manager account in the same message as the game address.
- Keep the operating system, Java runtime, Forge installation, and host panel current, but take a backup before each change.
- Prefer a host location near most players. Geographic distance affects latency even when the server has plenty of RAM.
- Check whether a managed provider includes network attack mitigation and whether that protection applies to the game port you use.
- Restrict remote administration to trusted accounts and, where available, two-factor authentication.
Backups, updates, and rollback
Before the first session
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world directory and relevant configuration files to storage outside the live installation, and record the pack release, Forge version, Java version, and server settings. A backup that exists only on the same disk does not protect against disk failure.
Before an update
- Announce a maintenance window and stop new logins.
- Make a dated backup of the world and configuration.
- Confirm the new release’s Minecraft and Forge requirements.
- Update the server first in a separate test copy when possible.
- Have every player update to the same release before reopening the whitelist.
If the update fails
Stop rather than repeatedly launching into the same broken world. Restore the previous server files and backup, verify that the old client profile still connects, then investigate the first meaningful error in the log. Keep the failed installation for diagnosis only if you have enough disk space; never overwrite your sole known-good backup.
Troubleshooting connection and startup failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| “Incompatible version” or a loader mismatch | The player and server use different Minecraft, Forge, or pack releases | Compare the complete version labels on both sides and reinstall the exact server release in the player’s launcher. |
| Missing mod or registry errors during login | Files are mixed between releases, or a client/server file was copied incorrectly | Create a clean 1.20.1 Forge instance from the official pack listing and remove manually added files before trying again. |
| Server exits immediately | Wrong Java runtime, incomplete Forge installation, or an unaccepted EULA | Read the first startup error, verify Java and Forge versions, check the EULA file, and start from the dedicated server directory. |
| Friends cannot see the server | Firewall or router forwarding is missing, or the wrong address/port was shared | Test locally, confirm the configured port, verify the forwarding rule points to the host’s current local address, then retest externally. |
| Long pauses while exploring | Chunk generation, entity load, CPU limits, or insufficient memory headroom | Check console timing and heap usage, reduce view or simulation distance, limit entity-heavy activity, and increase the plan only when monitoring shows memory pressure. |
| Players lose progress after a crash | No recent external backup or an unsafe shutdown | Restore the newest clean backup, identify the crash trigger from logs, and schedule regular stopped-server or provider snapshots. |
When requesting help, include the exact pack release, Minecraft version, Forge version, Java version, operating system or host, player count, and the first relevant error from the log. “It does not work” is not enough information to distinguish a version mismatch from a network failure.
Choosing a provider beyond the installer button
One-click installation reduces file handling, but it does not make every host equivalent. Compare the following before committing:
- Cost structure: monthly price, setup fees, renewal terms, and the cost of increasing memory.
- Hardware headroom: CPU performance, storage type, and whether the advertised RAM is dedicated to your instance.
- Location: choose a data center close to the majority of players.
- Pack support: confirm CurseForge catalog access, Forge 1.20.1 support, and whether the provider supplies a server pack.
- Backups: check frequency, retention, restore controls, and whether backups consume your storage quota.
- Networking: ask about DDoS protection, fixed addresses, port restrictions, and bandwidth policies.
- Control: verify access to configuration files, scheduled tasks, logs, Java settings, and custom Forge arguments.
- Scaling: determine whether you can add RAM or CPU without rebuilding the world.
The provider pages cited for this pack advertise installation support and different memory recommendations, but they do not constitute independent performance testing, an uptime study, or a verified player-capacity benchmark.
A practical launch checklist
- Official waccyy’s Fantasia release selected and recorded.
- Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge confirmed on the server.
- Server memory allocated with operating-system headroom.
- Clean matching client profile prepared for each player.
- EULA handled and the first startup completed without errors.
- Whitelist, operator permissions, and firewall rules configured.
- External connection tested by someone outside the host network.
- World and configuration backup stored away from the live server.
- Maintenance and rollback plan agreed before the first update.
For most small groups, a managed CurseForge installer is the shortest path to a working world. Self-hosting is viable when you are prepared to operate the machine, protect the network, and maintain recoverable backups. Whichever route you choose, exact version matching matters more than any advertised RAM figure.
