To run an All The Forge server, choose the exact pack release first, download that release’s dedicated Server Files archive, extract every file into one server directory, and launch the supplied Windows or Linux script. The current listing is ATFG11 v11.2.1hf for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. The server guide calls for at least 6 GB of allocated memory; Java 21 is the practical runtime for the 1.21.1 NeoForge line.

Choose the exact All The Forge release before downloading
All The Forge is not a single interchangeable download. Its Minecraft version, mod-loader version, configuration files, and startup settings are tied to the release you select. The current project listing identifies ATFG11 v11.2.1hf as the active line for Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project also retains an older 1.20.1 line built for Forge.
That distinction matters when an existing world or group of players is already on an older pack. A 1.20.1 Forge server cannot be made compatible by copying in 1.21.1 NeoForge files, and a 1.21.1 client will not join a 1.20.1 Forge server simply because both are called All The Forge.

Do not mix a client pack with a server pack
The client archive is intended to install the game for players. A server needs the separate archive labelled Server Files on the project’s Files page. The server archive contains the startup scripts and the server-side directory layout required for a dedicated instance. Downloading a client pack and trying to use it as a server commonly leaves you without the correct launch script or with an incomplete file set.
What All The Forge contains
The project describes All The Forge as a pack that combines technical progression with enhanced vanilla features, improved structures, exploration, and new dimensions. Its listed feature set contains more than 100 mods, including Alex’s Mobs, Biomes O’ Plenty, Applied Energistics 2, Mekanism, Create, and The Twilight Forest.

That breadth affects server planning. World generation, automation systems, storage networks, dimensions, and mob additions all create persistent data. Keep the instance in its own directory, back it up before changes, and avoid replacing individual mod files with versions from another release.
Requirements before installation
Memory allocation
The All The Guides server procedure specifies at least 6 GB of allocated RAM. Treat that as memory assigned to the Java process, not the total physical memory in the machine. Your operating system, file cache, monitoring tools, and any other services also need room. On a personal computer, leave headroom rather than assigning every available gigabyte to Minecraft; on a rented host, check that the plan’s advertised memory is actually available to the server process.
Java runtime
Use the Java version required by the selected pack. For ATFG11 v11.2.1hf on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, Java 21 is the practical runtime target. An older Java installation may cause the script to exit immediately, report an unsupported class version, or fail while NeoForge starts. Confirm the runtime supplied by a managed host’s image before uploading files.

A dedicated directory and reliable access
Create a new folder used only by this server. Do not extract the archive into a general Downloads folder that may be cleaned automatically, and do not place it inside an existing Forge or NeoForge instance. You need permission to create and modify files there, enough disk space for the generated world and backups, and a way for players to reach the machine through the host’s address and configured game port.
Download the correct server files
- Open the official All The Forge project listing.
- Confirm the Minecraft and loader combination you intend to run. For the current release, that is ATFG11 v11.2.1hf, Minecraft 1.21.1, and NeoForge.
- Open the project’s Files area and select that exact release.
- Download the archive explicitly labelled Server Files. Keep the archive’s version number with your notes so every player can install the same release.
- Do not substitute the client modpack archive, a different All The Forge version, or a server archive from another Minecraft line.
If an existing world is important, make a copy before changing anything. A release migration can involve mod, loader, and world-format changes; the original directory is your rollback point.
Install a self-hosted server
The official server procedure is deliberately simple: extract the complete archive, place all extracted contents in the main server folder, run the supplied script, complete the first-run EULA step, and restart cleanly.
1. Extract every file
Extract the Server Files archive into the dedicated directory you created. Check that the scripts, configuration folders, libraries, and mod files are directly inside the server’s main folder rather than hidden inside an extra nested directory. When using a third-party host, upload all extracted contents to the host’s main server folder, not just the mods folder or the apparent executable.

2. Verify Java before launching
Point the server environment at the compatible Java installation. On a 1.21.1 NeoForge setup, this normally means Java 21. If your operating system has multiple Java versions, make sure the startup script resolves to the intended one rather than whichever version happens to be first on the system path.
3. Run the supplied startup script
Use the included Windows batch script on Windows or the included Linux shell script on Linux. The archive’s script is the authoritative launch method for that release because it carries the pack’s expected arguments and file names.

4. Let the first launch finish
The first run generates libraries, configuration files, logs, and the world directory. It can take longer than later starts. Watch the console for a clear stop or completion message instead of closing the window abruptly.
5. Accept the Minecraft EULA
After the initial generation step, the server creates an EULA file. Stop the process, read the EULA, and set the acceptance value as required before starting again. Do not edit unrelated settings during this first pass; keeping the initial launch clean makes failures easier to identify.
6. Restart cleanly
Run the same startup script again after the EULA step. A successful second start should load the modded server, finish loading the world, and leave a running console ready for commands. Stop it with the server’s normal stop command when you need to make configuration or backup changes.
Configure the instance after it starts
All The Forge does not publish universal values for every operating system, router, or hosting panel. Apply these settings to your environment and follow the host’s interface where it differs.
Server properties
After the first successful launch, review the generated server-properties file. Set the world name, difficulty, player access policy, and other gameplay options your group needs. Change one setting at a time and restart cleanly so a bad value is easy to trace.
Firewall and port forwarding
A self-hosted machine must allow the Minecraft server port through its operating-system firewall. If players connect from outside your home network, the router also needs a forwarding rule to the computer running Java. The exact address, port, and firewall commands depend on your operating system and network equipment, so use the values shown by your server configuration rather than copying a generic rule.

Operator permissions and whitelist
Grant operator status only to trusted administrators. Use a whitelist when the server is private, and add each player deliberately. Test a normal player account as well as an operator account; permission mistakes often remain hidden when every connection is made with administrative rights.
Backups
Back up the world directory and the server configuration before installing updates, changing major settings, or adding a new dimension. Keep at least one copy outside the live server directory. A backup that sits beside the world can be lost with the same disk failure or accidental deletion it was meant to protect against.
Make every client match the server
Every player must install the identical All The Forge release and loader as the server. For ATFG11 v11.2.1hf, that means Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge and the matching client pack. Do not let one player use an older Forge line while the server runs NeoForge.
When a connection fails, compare the complete version label first, then the Minecraft version, then the loader. A seemingly minor pack revision can change mod files or configuration. Have players close the game before replacing a pack, and remove an old profile if the launcher keeps selecting it automatically.

Self-hosting is appropriate when you want direct control over files, backups, ports, and Java arguments and are comfortable maintaining the machine and network. Managed hosting trades some low-level control for a control panel, a provider-maintained environment, and support with deployment.

No universal player-capacity figure, uptime guarantee, or current hosting price applies to every provider. Compare the exact plan’s allocated memory, storage, backup policy, location, support for the chosen loader, and ability to move the files later.
Troubleshooting common setup failures
The script does nothing or closes immediately
- Check that the entire archive was extracted and that you are running the script from the server’s main directory.
- Verify that the script can find the required Java runtime and that the Java version matches the pack.
- Run the script from a terminal so its error message remains visible instead of disappearing with a double-clicked window.
The server reports an unsupported Java or class-version error
Install or select the Java version required by the pack. The current 1.21.1 NeoForge line should normally run on Java 21. If multiple versions are installed, correct the script or host setting that selects Java rather than only installing another copy.
Players receive a mod, loader, or version mismatch
Compare the server archive and each player’s client profile byte for byte in practical terms: release label, Minecraft version, loader, and modpack revision. Replace the out-of-date profile with the matching client pack. Do not copy random individual mods from a different release into the server.
The server stops at the EULA stage
Complete the EULA acceptance step created by the first launch, then stop and restart through the supplied script. If the file keeps reverting, check that the server account has write permission in the directory and that you edited the EULA file belonging to this instance, not a second extracted copy.
The process runs out of memory
Confirm that at least 6 GB is allocated to Java, not merely installed in the machine. Leave room for the operating system and other services. On a managed host, ask support to verify the process limit rather than relying on the plan’s headline memory figure.
The console starts but nobody can connect
- Confirm that the server finished loading and is listening on the configured port.
- Check the operating-system firewall and, for home hosting, the router’s forwarding rule.
- Have a player test from the correct network address; an internal address generally differs from the address friends use from the internet.
- Check whitelist and operator settings after basic connectivity works.
The world or settings disappear after an update
Stop the server cleanly before copying files. Make a dated backup of the world and configuration, then verify that the startup panel or script points to the same main directory as before. Running a newly extracted archive from a different folder can make the server appear empty even though the original world still exists elsewhere.
Updating without losing control of the world
- Record the current All The Forge release, Minecraft version, loader, Java version, and launch arguments.
- Stop the server normally and make an external backup of the world and configuration.
- Download the new release’s dedicated Server Files archive.
- Extract it into a new directory instead of overwriting the known-good installation.
- Apply the compatible Java runtime and memory allocation, then perform a first launch and EULA step in the new directory.
- Move or copy the world only after the new instance starts successfully, and retain the old directory until players have confirmed that their builds, inventories, and dimensions load correctly.
This parallel-directory approach gives you a rollback path if a mod, loader, or world conversion causes trouble. Never test an upgrade on the only copy of an established world.
