They are divided into Grim, Sinister and Wicked tiers. Each relic imposes a harmful modifier, and each is unlocked by completing a specific trial. Cursed Mode progress is run-based, so the guide’s instructions should be completed in one session rather than relying on a save-and-quit.

Relic unlocks are separate from simply playing a Cursed Mode run: you must satisfy the listed setup and finish the associated portal challenge. Because progress is not retained between sessions, avoid quitting or assuming that partial counters will carry into a later game.

Power Switch (Grim)
Power Switch is available from Tier 1 once you reach round 20 or later. Its unlock puzzle combines a randomized number code with a trap-only combat trial.
How to unlock it
- Bring a weapon with a scope. Look through it at the four deer-skull statues and record the number shown at each statue. The values reroll every game, so a memorized order is not reliable.
- In Blodheim Hall, match each number to the corresponding bear rug or pelt.
- Use Combat Axes (tomahawks) on the matching rugs in ascending order, from the fewest heads to the most.
- Enter the green portal that appears.
- Complete three waves. During this trial, fire traps are the only source of damage that counts; gunfire, melee attacks and ordinary equipment will not substitute for the traps.
Read the statue values in the current run before throwing anything. A wrong order wastes the setup because the counts are not fixed across games.

Wrestler’s Belt (Grim)
The Wrestler’s Belt is solved. COD Central marked it FOUND on October 16, 2026, 169 days after Totenreich launched. Older pages that call it unsolved are out of date. Treyarch’s June 4, 2026 response also said the belt was “not bugged and never was.”
Build the 18 kill counters
- Start a Cursed Mode run and complete the Jotunn Star quest up to the lighthouse.
- Before picking up the wonder weapon, collect the Mr. Peeks magazine. This starts the hidden counters.
- Buy all 17 Totenreich wall-buy weapons, one at a time, and score 50 direct kills with each weapon.
- Use the Jotunn Star for another 50 direct kills.
- When all counters are complete, go to the portal beside the Arsenal in Eidskallen Square.
The requirement is 18 counters × 50 kills, or 900 minimum kills. Only direct kills from the specified wall-buy weapon or Jotunn Star count. Mystery Box weapons, loadout weapons, equipment, field upgrades and ammo mods do not advance these counters.
Survive the belt trial
The challenge removes your weapons at the end of each wave. Bank enough Essence to rebuy what you need between waves and plan purchases before entering the next lockdown. Losing a weapon is part of the trial, not a bug; the portal will not complete until the weapon-stripping sequence is cleared.

Stuffed Elephant (Sinister)
Stuffed Elephant requires a clean climb to round 40. You cannot buy or receive a perk from any source before reaching that round.
Perk restriction
- Do not use perk machines or Wonderfizz.
- Do not accept perks from GobbleGums, T.E.D.D. rewards, Mr. Peeks eggs or random drops.
- Do not accidentally pick up a perk while moving through a reward area.
After round 40, the portal behind Jugger-Nog on Fishery Island appears. Perks become safe to purchase before entering the challenge, so the restriction applies to the approach, not the portal combat itself.
Egg and HVT sequence
- Enter the Fishery Island portal after confirming the no-perk run.
- Shoot the four fixed Mr. Peeks eggs at Skallen Market, Storm Bridge, Dry Dock and Beacon Island.
- Each egg spawns a high-value target (HVT). Kill that HVT before moving to the next egg.
- Use the extra time created by the egg sequence to finish all four targets before the trial expires.
The eggs do not change location between runs, but the round-40 no-perk condition is what makes this relic difficult.

Dancing Arnie (Sinister)
Dancing Arnie randomizes every perk machine, including Wonderfizz. Its unlock has a strict ingredient order and then a five-wave melee trial.

- Take the pot from Skallen Market to Blodheim Hall.
- Add ale from Eidskallen Square.
- Catch Chilly Chunks at Storm Bridge and put them in the pot before building the Jotunn Star. Doing this later can lock the run out of the quest.
- Kill a Necropincer with the Flammenfalle trap to make it drop a lobster, then place the lobster in the pot.
- Catch the red fish during a later Special Round and add it as the final ingredient.
Trigger and trial
- Build the Jotunn Star only after Chilly Chunks are in the pot.
- Use Jotunn Star melee kills on Mr. Peeks until he laughs. The laugh is the practical confirmation that the hidden soul requirement has been met.
- Enter the portal above Pack-a-Punch on Fishery Island.
- Clear all five waves using melee attacks only.
Available guides disagree on the exact soul count (about 75 versus about 100) and on whether the fish becomes available at round 39, 40 or 41. Continue melee-feeding until the laugh, and treat a round-40-or-later Special Round as the safe fishing target rather than stopping at an earlier threshold.
Agarthan Device (Wicked)
Agarthan Device is the most preparation-heavy unlock. It requires Tier 2 or higher, the Richtofen operator, completion of the main Easter Egg and a separate side quest.

Required setup
- Play as Richtofen in Tier 2+ Cursed Mode.
- Complete Totenreich’s main Easter Egg before attempting the relic chain.
- Buy Melee Macchiato directly from its perk machine; a free or random acquisition does not satisfy the requirement.
- Search the randomized secret rooms for the Mr. Peeks figurine, helmet and walkie-talkie.
- Complete the Richtofen side quest.
- Place all three secret-room items on the throne.
Do not save and quit during this sequence. The room locations are randomized, so check every eligible secret room in the current run rather than following a fixed route.
Indoor-only trial
The portal challenge contains six waves with enemies tuned to round-60 strength. You may deal damage only while indoors; stepping outside to shoot invalidates the intended rule. HVT bears appear on waves three and six, so reserve ammunition and indoor cover for those encounters.

Music Box requires Tier II and round 60 or later. Its effect is severe: enemies take only critical damage while the relic is active.

Start the unlock
- Reach round 60 or later in Tier II.
- Take the Shadow SK from Tyr’s Shoulder.
- From Tyr’s Head, fire through the bay window and score five critical kills.
- Listen for Mr. Peeks’ laugh. The exact meaning of “consecutive” in some descriptions is disputed, so the laugh is the reliable in-game confirmation.
- Enter the red portal in Dry Dock.
Complete the six lockdowns
The lockdowns must be cleared in this order:
- Fishery Island
- Tyr’s Foot
- Dry Dock
- Beacon Island
- Eidskallen Square
- Skallen Market
During the trial, ordinary body shots do not count. Build a loadout and ammunition plan around reliable critical hits before entering the portal.
Planning and failure checks
The relics are easier to organize by their real gate rather than by tier alone.

Once unlocked, each relic can be selected as a Cursed Mode modifier. The trade-off is intentional: Grim relics disrupt equipment or weapon access, Sinister relics interfere with survivability and perk certainty, and Wicked relics impose round-wide enemy or damage restrictions. Choose a relic only when your squad can support its specific trial rule and its ongoing drawback.
