All Trade Evolution Codes in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Here are all 13 commonly used trade-evolution codes for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Enter the repeated eight-digit code in Link Trade, equip any required held item first, and inspect the other player’s offer before confirming. These are community conventions rather than official Nintendo-issued codes, and a random match is not a guaranteed tradeback.

If you still need the game, the procedure works with Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch. Players using Nintendo’s newer hardware can use the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition; the trade-code process is the same.

Use the following commonly used community Link Codes for trade evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Each code repeats the four-digit Pokémon identifier to create an eight-digit matchmaking code. The list below reflects the standard 13-code set reported by multiple current game guides, updated through June 17, 2026.

These are community-standardized codes, not Nintendo-issued codes. Both players normally offer the same species, allowing each Pokémon to evolve for its new owner. That means a random code trade is not automatically a tradeback—read the safety section before using a valuable Pokémon.

Before trading: Equip the required held item before you confirm the exchange. For item-based evolutions, the item is used during the evolution process. This applies to Metal Coat, King’s Rock, Sachet, Whipped Dream, Upgrade, Dubious Disc, and Prism Scale evolutions.

How to use a trade code

Trading becomes available after you progress far enough to reach Main Mission 3, A New Life in Lumiose City. Once Link Play is unlocked, follow these steps:

  1. Open the main menu by pressing X.
  2. Select Link Play.
  3. Choose Link Trade.
  4. Select Faraway Players for an internet trade, or Nearby Players for a local wireless trade.
  5. Enter the relevant eight-digit code. For example, use 0066 0066 for a Haunter-to-Gengar trade.
  6. When a partner is found, inspect the offered Pokémon carefully. For an item evolution, confirm that the correct item is equipped.
  7. Confirm the trade. If the species and held-item requirements are correct, the received Pokémon should evolve immediately after the exchange.

Nintendo’s multiplayer instructions describe Link Trade as supporting two players either locally or over the internet. Both players enter the same eight-digit code, select a Pokémon, and confirm the exchange. The procedure applies to both the original Nintendo Switch version and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition; the enhanced edition is not required for these trade codes.

Held-item checklist

Seven of the 13 listed trade paths require an item. Check the item before searching, and check it again on the trade-confirmation screen:

  • Metal Coat: Scyther → Scizor and Onix → Steelix
  • King’s Rock: Slowpoke → Slowking
  • Sachet: Spritzee → Aromatisse
  • Whipped Dream: Swirlix → Slurpuff
  • Upgrade: Porygon → Porygon2
  • Dubious Disc: Porygon2 → Porygon-Z
  • Prism Scale: Feebas → Milotic

The item must be held before the trade is confirmed. A missing or incorrect item prevents the intended item-based evolution, and the item is consumed when the evolution occurs according to the current evolution documentation.

Faraway Players: online requirements

Faraway Players uses an internet connection. Current third-party guides report that an active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for online trading in the U.S. version. Nintendo’s official multiplayer information confirms the internet-trade workflow but does not specify that membership requirement in the retrieved guidance, so treat the membership detail as the practical current requirement rather than a universal statement for every region.

Nearby Players is the local wireless option and does not use internet matchmaking. It is the better choice if you are trading with someone in the same location and want to avoid online matchmaking requirements.

Do not assume a random code trade is a tradeback

A shared evolution code is a way to find a player offering the same unevolved species. It is not a guarantee that the other player will send your original Pokémon back. For example, when you enter the Haunter code, you may receive another player’s Haunter, which evolves into Gengar for you; the other player receives your Haunter, which evolves into Gengar for them. You should not expect to receive the exact Pokémon you sent unless you arranged that exchange directly.

For a shiny, event, competitively trained, high-value, or sentimental Pokémon, use a trusted friend and agree on a tradeback beforehand. Before confirming any random trade, verify:

  • the species and form of the Pokémon being offered;
  • the held item, when one is required;
  • that the partner is offering the evolution-path species you expect;
  • that you are comfortable receiving that partner’s Pokémon permanently.

Community trading reports include cases involving incorrect held items, wrong species, and partners who did not return Pokémon. If you need a specific Pokémon back, do not rely on a public code alone—arrange a direct tradeback with someone you trust.

What about Galarian Slowpoke?

Galarian Slowpoke is not included in the 13-code standard trade list. Current evolution-method tables list its item-based paths as:

Rank #2
Pokémon TCG: Pokémon Day 2026 Collection
  • The Pokémon TCG: Pokémon Day 2026 Collection includes 1 foil promo card featuring Pikachu with a Pokémon Day stamp.
  • This also comes with 1 Pokémon coin.
  • You will also receive 3 Pokémon TCG booster packs.
  • Booster Packs May Vary from those pictured.
  • Galarian Slowpoke → Galarian Slowbro: Galarica Cuff
  • Galarian Slowpoke → Galarian Slowking: Galarica Wreath

Those are item-based evolution methods, not published public Link Trade codes. Do not treat 0137 0137 as a code for Galarian Slowpoke: that code is the commonly used path for regular Slowpoke → Slowking with a King’s Rock. A separate Galarian trade code should not be presented unless a later authoritative source confirms one.

Switch and Switch 2 version notes

Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched on October 16, 2025 for Nintendo Switch. A separate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition offers improved graphics and frame rates. The standard Link Trade procedure and the community code list remain relevant to both editions, so choose the version that matches your console rather than buying the enhanced edition solely for trade evolutions.

The Mega Dimension DLC adds postgame content, but it is not required for the standard trade-evolution codes listed above. It also does not change the basic Link Trade steps described here.

Why the codes may stop working

These numbers are matchmaking conventions maintained by the player community, not permanent Nintendo-issued evolution codes. If a code does not find a suitable partner, try again later, confirm that both players entered all eight digits correctly, and make sure you selected the intended player-distance option. A partner found through a code may still offer the wrong species or item, so inspect the trade before accepting it.

For the most reliable result, coordinate with your trading partner in advance, use the same code, state exactly which species and item you are offering, and agree whether the trade is permanent or a tradeback.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use 0066 0066. Offer Haunter, and it should evolve into Gengar after the trade if the species and trade conditions are correct.

What is the trade code for Haunter in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

Some do and some do not. Scyther and Onix need Metal Coat; Slowpoke needs King’s Rock; Spritzee needs Sachet; Swirlix needs Whipped Dream; Porygon needs Upgrade; Porygon2 needs Dubious Disc; and Feebas needs Prism Scale.

Do trade evolutions require held items in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

No. They are commonly used community Link Codes based on repeated four-digit Pokémon identifiers. Nintendo documents the same-code matchmaking system, while multiple current game guides publish the species-to-code assignments.

Are these official Nintendo trade codes?

No. A public code normally matches two players offering the same unevolved species, and each player receives the other player’s Pokémon. Use a trusted friend and agree on a tradeback if you need your original Pokémon returned.

Can I use these codes for a guaranteed tradeback?

No. Current evolution tables list Galarian Slowpoke’s Galarica Cuff and Galarica Wreath paths as item-based evolutions, not as part of the 13 published trade-code paths.

Is Galarian Slowpoke included in the trade-code list?

The Bottom Line

Quick answer: use the repeated-ID code in the table, equip any required item before trading, and remember that public codes match you with another player—they do not guarantee that your original Pokémon will come back. Use a trusted partner for tradebacks or valuable Pokémon.
