The roster below lists all 40 by cost tier. Unlock requirements are match-specific and can change with patches, so check the in-game Lorefinder for the current condition for any champion you want to add.
All 40 unlockable champions in Set 16
The roster is grouped by cost category in Mobalytics’ guide, updated March 4, 2026. Riot’s overview confirms that Set 16 has 40 unlockables within its 100-champion roster.

Riot describes the set as 60 champions available at the start and 40 added to a player’s draft pool through unlocks. Once a champion’s quest is complete, it appears in the next shop reroll and then joins the shared pool at its usual appearance rate. Riot also says that repeatedly ignoring an unlocked unit reduces its appearance rate for that player. Riot’s Lore & Legends overview explains the set’s scope and pool behavior.
How unlocks work
Each unlock is tied to an in-match quest condition. Requirements may involve actions early in a game, specific items or traits, champion star levels, player level, special mechanics, or combat outcomes. Completing a quest makes its champion eligible to enter your shop; it does not place the champion directly on your board.

Conditions can change between patches
Patch 16.6, published March 3, 2026, revised a range of unlocks to make them more flexible. For example, Riot changed Bard’s requirement from four shop rerolls to three before the Stage 2 Carousel; Graves’ requirement from two items on Twisted Fate to two items on any Bilgewater champion; Aatrox’s Omnivamp threshold from 40% to 30%; and Veigar’s requirement from two Deathcaps to one Deathcap on a Yordle. These are examples of that patch’s changes, not a guarantee that the same conditions remain live. See Riot’s Patch 16.6 notes for the changes it lists.
Check the current quest in Lorefinder
For an exact current requirement, open Lorefinder in the game client and select the locked champion. Riot Support says Lorefinder displays locked champions, their traits and origins, and their unlock quests. This is the better reference than relying on an older guide when a patch may have changed a condition. Mobalytics’ Set 16 unlockables guide, updated March 4, 2026, provides roster and quest examples, but conditions are patch-sensitive.

Lorefinder progression rewards
Riot Support’s Lorefinder article describes collection-track rewards at milestones of 10, 20, 30, and 40 different champions unlocked. The 40-champion milestone grants the Old Man Whisker Little Legend; placing Top 4 after unlocking all 40 grants the Purrrrtal Portal. Those rewards were tied to the original Lore & Legends Part I event information, so their current availability should be checked in-client rather than assumed.
