To invite a specific villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, use a compatible Animal Crossing amiibo at the Nook Stop and invite that character to your campsite. It takes multiple invitations and continued interaction before they can move in. Making a current villager leave is different: residents may ask to move on their own, and you can choose whether to let them go or ask them to stay. There is no confirmed method here for selecting a specific resident to move out.
How to invite a specific villager with amiibo
A compatible Animal Crossing amiibo card or figure lets you choose which character to invite to the campsite. Nintendo’s instructions apply to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch systems. An amiibo scan begins a campsite visit; it does not move the character onto your island immediately.

Go to the Resident Services building and interact with the Nook Stop.

Select Invite a camper and confirm.

When prompted, touch the compatible amiibo to the controller’s NFC touchpoint. If it represents more than one character, select the character you want.

Talk to the visitor at the campsite. To get them to move in, invite them on multiple visits and keep interacting with them.
Nintendo does not specify a fixed number of visits. GamesRadar reports that a campsite visitor may ask you to craft a requested souvenir before a move-in invitation becomes available, but that detail is secondary guidance, not a guaranteed step for every visit. Make sure the campsite is unlocked
You need access to the campsite before you can invite an amiibo camper. GamesRadar’s guide says it becomes available after Resident Services upgrades from a tent to a building. The amiibo process does not bypass that progression requirement.
How to make a current villager move out
In the guidance available for this process, a resident may bring up moving away on their own. When they do, choose whether to ask them to stay or allow them to leave. This gives you a decision about that conversation, but not a reliable way to make a particular villager raise it. The selection rules and any cooldown timing are not established by the cited guidance.

- Take in-game photos of your designs and add them to your portfolio. Show them to other characters and you may get more requests to create vacation homes. Share the photos with other players using the in-game Showroom in the Happy Home Network app and they can tour your personally-designed resort islands or go tour theirs for some relaxation and inspiration.

Do not count on being rude to a villager to trigger a departure. The consulted GamesRadar guide describes tactics such as ignoring a resident, hitting them with a net, or sending unpleasant mail as uncertain, rather than dependable ways to choose who leaves. Read its discussion of resident move-outs with that limitation in mind.

Reporting a resident to Isabelle can reset certain language or clothing settings; it does not evict them. Use the complaint option to address those settings, not as a way to clear a home or force a move-out.
