Apex Legends Season 25: Prodigy ran from May 6 to August 4, 2025. Its patch brought major changes to Pathfinder, reworked the Bocek, weakened the Havoc and P2020, and adjusted several other Legends, weapons, attachments, and class perks. This guide covers the Season 25 balance update—not the game’s current live balance. EA published the Prodigy patch notes on May 5, 2025; EA’s season chronology gives the season dates.
Biggest Season 25 balance changes
- Pathfinder was substantially buffed: his Grappling Hook cooldown became dependent on distance traveled, while Zipline Gun gained stronger damage mitigation and new charge options through upgrades.
- The Havoc was nerfed: damage, hipfire spread, and recoil changed, and Selectfire was removed.
- The Bocek was reworked: it returned to floor loot with a dedicated arrow supply and a Frag Grenade-powered explosive-arrow mode, but its fully charged damage and rate of fire fell.
- The EVA-8 became faster but weaker per pellet: its rate of fire increased across bolt tiers, while pellet damage dropped.
- Other notable adjustments affected the Devotion, Hemlok, P2020, Wingman, sniper rifles, class perks, and several Legends.
EA’s patch notes also include changes labeled “Previous Hotfix.” Those were already applied before the main Season 25 patch notes and are identified separately below.
Legend and class changes
Pathfinder
Grappling Hook cooldown changed from a flat 30 seconds to a variable 10–30 seconds based on distance traveled. Zipline Zen’s 25% damage mitigation was built into Zipline Gun and increased to 50%. At level 3, Pathfinder could choose an additional Zipline Gun charge or a second Grappling Hook charge. These changes lowered the cooldown after shorter grapples and gave his ultimate stronger baseline protection.
Assault class: Battle Surge
Battle Surge lost its shield-crack scan, and its health-bar linger time decreased from 4 seconds to 3. The movement-speed boost now applies only while sprinting during the active window. Respawn said the class had remained popular and powerful during Takeover and that its shield-crack scan was excessive alongside Sparrow’s scan.

Skirmisher class: Charged Knock
Charged Knock no longer grants a tactical charge when a player gets a knock. Health regeneration on knocks remained. Respawn said the extra tactical charge had inconsistent effects and could interfere with Legend upgrades.
Sparrow
Season 25 introduced Sparrow as a Recon Legend. Her kit includes Double Jump; Tracker Dart, which reveals enemies crossing its line of sight and can remotely activate Survey Beacons; and Stinger Bolt, a charged arrow that anchors and shocks, damages, and slows nearby opponents. Her upgrades offered another tactical charge, a speed boost toward marked targets, an alternate three-charge Ultimate, and healing from Ultimate damage.

Ash, Conduit, Mirage, and Seer
Ash’s Predator’s Pursuit stopped showing Death Box locations or pings on the minimap. The patch notes list her Ultimate travel-time adjustments as previous-hotfix changes: maximum-distance travel time increased from 1.4 to 2.5 seconds, and minimum-distance travel time increased from 0.3 to 0.5 seconds.
The following were also marked as previous hotfixes: Conduit’s tactical health regeneration increased from 3 to 4 per tick; Mirage’s Ultimate decoys increased from 5 to 6; and Seer’s tactical time to hit targets decreased from 1.4 to 0.8 seconds, while its completion time decreased from 1.0 to 0.9 seconds.

Weapon changes

How the Bocek’s explosive arrows worked
Frag Grenades could energize the Bocek to fire explosive arrows. The arrow required a full draw, stuck to surfaces or players, and dealt 40 hit damage (64 on a headshot). It exploded after two seconds, dealing an additional 25 damage within a 5-meter radius. The bow used its own reserve of 40 arrows; arrows could be retrieved from the world or a Death Box, with up to four recoverable from a player. Arrows no longer appeared as floor loot. The Bocek could also appear on Sniper Arsenals and accept Sniper Stocks.

- The Bocek and Havoc returned to floor loot; the Triple Take entered the Care Package.
- Gold weapons were the Bocek, Hemlok, Longbow, Mastiff, and Wingman.
- Boosted Loader left floor loot. Skullpiercer joined floor loot for the 30-30 Repeater, Longbow, and Wingman.
- Gun Shield Generator was removed from the Devotion and L-STAR and became usable with the Hemlok.
- Accelerator was removed from the P2020, Volt, and Wingman, and added to the Bocek, Devotion, Mastiff, and Sentinel.
- Gold Sniper Stock became usable on Sniper and Marksman weapons and removed the movement penalty while the weapon was drawn. Marksman sniper stocks received improved ADS and raise/lower speed bonuses at every level.
Ranked and matchmaking changes
Ranked initial placement began using a tracked hidden skill value from previous ranked seasons. Players without one used their Unranked Trios skill value instead. The rule that placed players who skipped a season in Bronze IV was removed. EA also announced Ranked Ladders and Ranked Challenges as phased rollouts during the split.
Separately from weapon and Legend balance, EA said it was testing region population management to find closer-skill matches without sacrificing too much latency. For Platinum, Diamond, and Masters/Predator lobbies, the test sought opponents closer to players’ RP values, with longer queue waits as a possible trade-off.
