The current community-wiki category snapshot contains 79 Woody entries, but that number includes regular shop crops, limited rewards, legacy entries, crops with unclear availability, and at least one item marked unreleased.
Updated August 10, 2026: This guide separates the current Woody category from the much smaller list used by the original Beanstalk Event, which ran from August 16 through August 30, 2025. Availability, shop prices, pack odds, and event access can change after future updates.

What counts as a Woody plant?
Woody is a gameplay classification used by Grow a Garden. It is not based only on whether a crop looks like a tree or has a visibly hard stem. The category includes trees, shrubs, vines, bamboo-like plants, roots, and other crops that would not all be called woody plants by a botanist. The community wiki also notes that Woody crops are affected by the Woodpecker; see the Woody crop category for the current classification.

For example, a crop may be Woody as well as Tropical, Fruit, Leafy, Stalky, Nutty, or part of an event-specific category. Its appearance, rarity, harvest behavior, and event eligibility are separate properties. If you need to know whether a crop qualifies, use the in-game category rather than guessing from its name or appearance.

How to check for Woody crops in-game
- Open the Garden Guide.
- Open the Plants Index.
- Search for Woody.
- Review the results to see discovered Woody entries.
- Open an individual crop to check its available information and obtainment details.
The Garden Guide is the best in-game verification tool because it reflects the game’s own plant index. It also covers other collections, including pets, cosmetics, food, mutations, achievements, and obtainment information. However, the Guide may only show details your account has discovered. Some crops can appear as silhouettes or have incomplete records, so an external list remains useful for undiscovered crops and historical event rewards.
All 79 Woody crops and how to get them

- Unreleased/data-only: listed in game data or the category, but not reliably obtainable.

Woody crops grouped by acquisition route
The alphabetical table is the most reliable way to check a specific crop. The route groups below are useful when planning what to pursue next.
Seed Shop and recurring shop routes
The publicly documented Seed Shop routes include Amberheart, Apple, Avocado, Bamboo, Cacao, Coconut, Giant Pinecone, Mango, Sugar Apple, and Trinity Fruit. The listed prices range from inexpensive beginner options such as Apple and Bamboo to extremely expensive purchases such as Cocomango and Trinity Fruit. Stock is still rotation-based, so a crop having a Seed Shop route does not mean it will be visible every refresh.

Feijoa and Kiwi require extra caution: GameBoost lists Seed Shop routes, while PCGamesN associates them with the Summer Traveling Merchant. Check the live shop and merchant rather than relying on an old guide.
Packs and chests
Woody crops also come from the Basic, Normal, Exotic, Summer, Fall, Sprout, Crafters, Ancient, Zen, Premium Night, Safari, Honey Hive, and other event-specific seed packs. Chest routes include the Nutty, Enchanted, Kitsune, and Culinarian Chests. The percentages in the table are reported values; opening one pack or chest is never a guarantee.
Events, seasons, and special shops
Limited routes include Safari Harvest, the Fairy Event, Fall Market, Halloween, Christmas Harvest, Easter, Bizzy Bee, Zen, Summer, Twilight, Team Training, Chubby Chipmunk, and the historical Beanstalk event. Season Pass and Season Store rewards account for several other entries, including Bendbark, Naval Wort, and Purple Treeshroom.
Crafting, quests, weather, and progression
Evo Apple, Shadow Spine, and Willowberry are associated with crafting. Weeping Branch comes from Dead Tree quests, Frostspike is tied to Frozen Ice King weather, and Mangrove is a Garden Ascension reward. Trading may be a fallback where the game permits it, but trade rules and item availability can change. For crops marked unobtainable or unclear, first check your existing inventory before assuming the plant is permanently lost.
Which Woody crops are best to stockpile?
There is no single best Woody crop for every player. Compare candidates by rarity and historical event points, purchase cost, shop frequency, growth time, whether they are multi-harvest, how many fruits they produce, whether you already own the seed, and whether the crop overlaps with other requested categories.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Player situation | Recommended focus | Why |
|---|---|---|
| New player or low budget | Apple, then Bamboo or Coconut | Apple was historically the clearest beginner option because its listed Seed Shop price is low. Bamboo is also inexpensive, while Coconut adds stronger rarity and multi-category utility. |
| Mid-game player | Coconut, Mango, Peach, and Kiwi when available | Coconut and Mango have useful overlap with other categories, while Mango offers a stronger rarity target than the cheapest crops. Peach and Kiwi can help collectors, but Kiwi’s current route needs verification. |
| Wealthy player | Cacao, Sugar Apple, and Giant Pinecone | These are expensive or stock-limited but historically stronger contribution targets. Giant Pinecone and Sugar Apple are especially valuable when the rarity-based point system is active. |
| Collector | Event packs, chests, season rewards, and limited shops | Many entries cannot be replaced through the normal Seed Shop. Prioritize the event or season that contains the missing crop. |
| Returning player | Check legacy inventory first | Some older or limited crops have no dependable current route. Historical coverage notes that an unobtainable crop already in your inventory may still be useful, although this should be confirmed against the live event rules. |
Best cheap option: Apple
Apple is the safest general recommendation for a new player preparing for a possible category event. Its documented Seed Shop cost is 3,250 Sheckles, and older event coverage described it as a commonly stocked, accessible choice. That makes it practical for building a supply without spending millions of Sheckles. There is not enough current growth-time evidence to call Apple the fastest Woody crop, however.

Best category overlap: Coconut and Mango
Coconut and Mango are strategically useful because they have appeared in multiple plant categories, including Woody and Tropical. A stockpile of overlapping crops can help when requests rotate between categories. Coconut is cheaper than Mango in the documented shop prices, while Mango provides a higher-end target for players with more money.
Best historical high-point targets: Giant Pinecone and Sugar Apple
Under the documented Beanstalk rarity system, Prismatic crops such as Giant Pinecone and Sugar Apple were worth the highest base contribution tier. They are not automatically the best farming choices: Giant Pinecone has an enormous listed price and poor stock accessibility, while Sugar Apple is also expensive. If the event is inactive, spending scarce resources on them solely for Beanstalk preparation may not be worthwhile.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Beanstalk Event: what happened in 2025
During the original event, Jack requested a plant category. When Woody was the active request, the historical process was:
- Harvest crops that matched Jack’s currently requested category.
- Go to Jack near the center of the map.
- Speak to Jack.
- Select the option equivalent to Feed all my plants to the beanstalk.
- The submitted crops convert into Beanstalk contribution points.
- Wait for the contribution cooldown before submitting again.
The documented event system awarded more base points for higher rarity:
| Rarity | Historical Beanstalk points |
|---|---|
| Rare | 3 |
| Legendary | 4 |
| Mythical | 5 |
| Divine | 6 |
| Prismatic | 7 |
Silver, Gold, and Rainbow mutations could add bonus points to contributions. The documented growth threshold was 900 points, and the event also included contribution milestones, access to the Beanstalk area or portal, and rewards. See the Beanstalk Event page and the Pocket Tactics overview for the historical event context.

Does Jack accept every current Woody crop?
Do not assume that he does. The current community-wiki category is broader than the original event table. New crops were added after August 2025, and public guides disagree about whether later additions such as Rhubarb and other event crops were accepted by Jack.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If the Beanstalk Event returns, check Jack’s active request and the live in-game classification. A crop being listed as Woody today proves its current trait, but it does not prove that the 2025 version of Jack’s event table included it. The safest approach is to test one copy first rather than feed an entire stockpile of a rare or limited crop.
Older coverage illustrates why the numbers differ. Dexerto reported 27 Woody plants for the 2025 event, while PCGamesN presented a much smaller event-focused selection. GameBoost attempted a larger list and stated 73 plants, but its table, closing paragraph, and availability count do not agree. The current Fandom category snapshot contains 79 entries, including newer additions and an entry marked unreleased. These are different scopes, not necessarily simple counting mistakes.
Why different Woody lists show different numbers
- Older 2025 guides: generally list the crops relevant to the Beanstalk event at that time, often around 20 to 27 entries.
- GameBoost: labels its list as 73 plants, but its conclusion refers to only 24 available crops and its table omits six entries found in the current category.
- Current community-wiki category: lists 79 Woody entries, including limited crops, unclear entries, and at least one unreleased/data-only entry.
- Gamezebo: contains useful early prices, odds, and routes, but its August 2025 information should not be treated as a live database.
- PCGamesN: was updated September 20, 2025 and is useful for event strategy, but it predates much of the later roster.
For collection purposes, use the Garden Guide and the current category snapshot. For a returning event, use Jack’s live request and actual submission behavior. For acquisition, use the table as a route map, then confirm that the relevant shop, pack, event, or crafting station is currently available.
Troubleshooting Woody crop problems
Jack is not accepting a crop
- Confirm that the Beanstalk Event is actually active.
- Check Jack’s current request; he may be asking for a different plant category.
- Verify the crop in the Plants Index rather than relying on its appearance.
- Try one copy before submitting a whole inventory of a newer or limited crop.
- Remember that the 2025 event table may not include every crop added later.
The crop appears in the Woody category but has no acquisition method
Treat it as unclear, legacy, or data-only until the Garden Guide or a current in-game source provides a route. Do not spend currency based only on a third-party list that says N/A or preserves an old event route.
Recommended Free Tools
A listed shop or pack is not available
Shop stock rotates, and seasonal shops and packs may be disabled outside their events. Check the Seed Shop, Daily Deals, Traveling Merchants, event shops, and relevant packs again after their refreshes. For Kiwi and Feijoa in particular, public sources disagree about whether the Seed Shop or Summer Merchant is the active route.

An old guide says a crop is unobtainable
First check your inventory and the Garden Guide. A crop can lose its original acquisition route while remaining in players’ inventories. Trading may also be possible where the game permits it, but it is not a guaranteed replacement method and trade rules can change.
Shadow Spine has conflicting information
Shadow Spine’s page gives a crafting recipe requiring two Beanstalk Seeds, one Zebrazinkle fruit, one Master Sprinkler, and 50,000,000 Sheckles, but the same page still labels the crop unreleased and not currently obtainable. Report it as conflicting rather than treating the recipe as proof that it is live.
Practical preparation checklist
- Open the Garden Guide and search the Plants Index for Woody.
- Separate crops you can buy now from limited or legacy entries.
- Keep Apple or Bamboo for a low-cost baseline if you are preparing without a confirmed event.
- Save Coconut and Mango when you want crops that can overlap with other categories.
- Do not spend Giant Pinecone, Sugar Apple, Cacao, or other rare crops until Jack’s request and the event rules are visible.
- Check seasonal packs, chests, event shops, crafting stations, quests, and progression rewards for missing entries.
- When a new event begins, submit one test crop before sacrificing your entire stockpile.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are all 79 Woody plants currently obtainable in Grow a Garden?
No. The 79 figure is the current community-wiki category snapshot. It includes regular shop crops, limited event and season rewards, legacy or unclear entries, and Shadow Spine, whose page gives a crafting recipe but also labels it unreleased. Availability must be checked in the Garden Guide and the live shops or events.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Does Woody mean that a crop grows on a tree?
No. Woody is an in-game trait. The category also includes shrubs, vines, bamboo-like crops, roots, and other plants that may not look like trees. Use the Plants Index classification instead of judging by appearance.
Can I submit every Woody crop to Jack?
Not safely. The original Beanstalk Event ran from August 16 to August 30, 2025 and used a smaller, event-specific Woody table. If the event returns, check Jack’s active request and test newer crops before submitting rare items.
What is the best Woody crop for a new player?
Apple is the clearest low-cost recommendation because its documented Seed Shop price is 3,250 Sheckles and historical coverage described it as accessible. Bamboo is another inexpensive option. Coconut and Mango become more attractive when you want higher rarity or overlap with other plant categories.
The Bottom Line
Use the Garden Guide’s Plants Index to verify the Woody trait, but do not treat the current 79-entry category as a list of 79 live or Beanstalk-eligible crops. Apple is the practical low-budget target; Coconut and Mango offer useful category overlap; and Cacao, Sugar Apple, and Giant Pinecone are higher-end historical contribution options. If Jack or the Beanstalk Event returns, follow the live request and test eligibility before spending limited crops.
