That does not rule out a regional outage, an authentication or API failure, a stale browser build, a blocked network request, or a device-specific graphics problem.
Start with the lowest-risk sequence: open the official Pokerogue.net address, press Ctrl + F5 on Windows/Linux or Command + Shift + R on macOS, then test a private window, another browser, or mobile data. Do not immediately clear all browser data: deleting site storage can sign you out and may remove locally stored settings or progress if it has not synchronized.

“Won’t load” describes several different failures. The fastest fix depends on whether the domain is unreachable, the page is blank, the loading screen loops, login fails, a save will not open, or the game freezes during a run.

A black screen immediately after opening the site is a different problem from a black screen after a battle. The former usually points toward client initialization, cached assets, graphics, or network access. The latter can be save-, memory-, asset-, or game-state-specific.
Is PokéRogue down right now?
During the August 10, 2026 check, the official homepage responded, and Down for Everyone or Just Me reported no active widespread problem. Its last detected outage was listed as July 9, 2026, lasting approximately two hours, with launching the game accounting for most user reports.
That is useful evidence, not a guarantee. A homepage can respond while the game client, login system, save-loading service, or API is failing. The PokéRogue repository’s production configuration points the client to https://api.pokerogue.net, so the web page and the game’s backend are not exactly the same test.
Use these checks to separate a global outage from a local failure
- Open
https://pokerogue.net/directly rather than using an old bookmark. - Open the site in a private or incognito window.
- Try a second browser.
- Try a second device.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or test another network.
- Check the outage monitor and the official wiki’s community links, including its Discord link, for maintenance or incident reports.

Do not treat an outage monitor as definitive. It measures reachability and user reports, not every function of PokéRogue’s backend.
Confirm that you are using the official site
The official project repository and the official wiki both identify pokerogue.net as the project’s game website. Use that link when troubleshooting.
Be cautious with:
- Old bookmarks and search results that lead to a similarly named domain.
- Unofficial mirrors, clones, or lookalike domains.
- Third-party APKs or “PokéRogue” app downloads.
- Any site that asks for your account credentials but cannot be verified through the official project.
This does not establish that every alternative domain is malicious. It does mean you should not enter credentials into an unverified mirror. The official project is browser-based. A separate repository, Pokerogue-App, describes itself as a third-party app for playing Pokerogue.net with online and offline modes; it is not the same thing as the official production website.
Try the low-risk fixes first
1. Hard-refresh Pokerogue.net
A normal reload may continue using an older JavaScript bundle, image, font, or other asset after a deployment. The official PokéRogue FAQ recommends Ctrl + F5 or clearing the browser cache when an update is not appearing.

- Windows/Linux: press Ctrl + F5. If needed, try Ctrl + Shift + R.
- macOS: press Command + Shift + R.
- iPhone/iPad: close the Pokerogue.net tab completely, remove it from the app switcher if necessary, reopen the browser, and visit the official address again.
Also close duplicate PokéRogue tabs. On phones and tablets, several open game tabs can increase memory pressure and make a blank screen or crash more likely.
2. Test a private or incognito window
Open the official address in a private window without changing anything else.
- Works privately: an extension, stored site data, cookie restriction, tracking setting, or browser-profile problem is likely.
- Fails privately too: investigate browser compatibility, graphics, network access, and outage status next.
This is a diagnostic test, not necessarily a permanent solution. Private browsing may handle cookies differently or block third-party cookies by default. Google explains that blocking cookies can prevent some sites from working as expected, so a failed private-window test does not by itself prove that PokéRogue is down.

3. Temporarily disable extensions and privacy tools
Disable extensions for one test, especially:
- Ad blockers and tracker blockers.
- Script blockers.
- Custom CSS, theme, or dark-mode extensions.
- Browser security and anti-fingerprinting tools.
- Translation, reader-mode, and page-modification tools.
- VPN or proxy browser extensions.
If the game works, turn the extensions back on one at a time until the conflict returns. Firefox’s site-rendering troubleshooting guidance identifies cached data, extensions, blocked JavaScript, tracking protection, and hardware acceleration as possible causes of pages loading incorrectly.

PokéRogue needs its browser-based client to run JavaScript and preserve login/session state. Check that:
- JavaScript is not blocked.
- Cookies and site storage are permitted for
pokerogue.net. - Strict tracking protection is temporarily relaxed for a test.
- Third-party-cookie restrictions are not interrupting the login flow.
- Your browser is not using a privacy mode that disables storage required by the site.
Microsoft’s Edge guidance also notes that strict tracking prevention can cause parts of websites to fail. Change these settings only for testing if possible, then restore the strongest setting that still allows the game to work.
5. Update and restart the browser
Update Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari, then fully close and reopen the browser. Also install pending updates for Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, or iPadOS. Retest in a current mainstream browser before assuming that your account or save is damaged.
Browser age matters for PokéRogue. The official February 15, 2026 changelog records a hotfix for a problem that could prevent older browsers and Chromebooks from running the game. The project does not publish a universal minimum browser version in the supplied documentation, so do not rely on an arbitrary version-number rule.
Clear PokéRogue’s site data without risking unnecessary loss
“Clear the cache” and “delete site data” are not interchangeable.
- Cached files are old copies of scripts, images, fonts, and other downloadable resources. Removing them is generally the lower-risk browser reset, although the game must download assets again.
- Site data can include cookies, web storage, application caches, and IndexedDB. Chrome’s data documentation lists these types of stored information. Deleting them may sign you out, remove preferences, and potentially remove locally stored game data.
Before deleting all site data, confirm that you know the correct PokéRogue account and password. If you played only locally, never created an account, or are unsure whether progress synchronized, try the original browser and device first. Once the game becomes reachable, use the current in-game data-management or export options before performing more destructive troubleshooting.
Chrome on desktop
- Open Chrome.
- Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Select See all site data and permissions.
- Search for
pokerogue.net. - Select the delete or remove control for the matching entry.
- Reopen the official site and sign in again if prompted.
These controls remove the site’s stored data, not merely a temporary page copy. Google warns that deleting cookies can sign users out and delete saved preferences.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Settings and more → Settings.
- Select Privacy, search, and services.
- Open Cookies → See all cookies and site data.
- Search for PokéRogue or
pokerogue.net. - Delete the matching site entry.
- Reopen the official site.
See Microsoft’s Edge cookie and site-data instructions if the labels differ in your version.
Firefox
- Visit PokéRogue.
- Select the padlock or site-information icon to the left of the address bar.
- Select Clear Cookies and Site Data.
- Confirm and reload.
This targets the current site rather than wiping every website’s data. Mozilla documents the process in its Firefox site-data guide.

Safari on Mac
- Open Safari → Settings.
- Select Privacy.
- Select Manage Website Data.
- Search for PokéRogue or
pokerogue.net. - Remove the matching entry.
Apple’s Safari instructions cover this targeted removal.
Safari on iPhone or iPad
Apple’s standard control is Settings → Apps → Safari → Clear History and Website Data. This is broader than deleting only Pokerogue.net’s data and can affect other sites, so treat it as a later-stage measure. Apple documents the control in its iPhone and iPad safety guide.
Save-data warning: Do not guarantee that your progress is safe after clearing site storage, switching accounts, uninstalling an unofficial app, or playing without synchronization. Clearing data may only sign you out, but local-only progress can be different. Avoid deleting storage until you understand how your account and save are synchronized.
Fix black, white, gray, or purple screens
Test hardware acceleration in both states
The current PokéRogue client initializes Phaser with WEBGL, according to the project’s source code. That makes graphics initialization a plausible explanation for a blank, flickering, purple, or black screen, but it does not prove that WebGL is the cause of every rendering failure.
The official FAQ recommends enabling hardware or graphics acceleration for slow or frequently crashing gameplay. Test it rather than assuming it must always be enabled:
- If the device is slow and the CPU is doing most of the work, enabling acceleration may help.
- If the screen is black, flickers, or crashes while graphics initialize, disabling acceleration temporarily may help expose a driver or GPU conflict.
- Updating the browser and graphics driver is preferable to leaving acceleration disabled permanently.
Firefox hardware-acceleration settings
- Open Firefox Settings.
- Select General.
- Scroll to Performance.
- Uncheck Use recommended performance settings.
- Test Use hardware acceleration when available in its current state, then test the opposite state.
- Restart Firefox after changing the setting.
Mozilla explains that hardware acceleration uses the GPU for games and animations, while also noting that disabling it can help with graphics-driver-related crashes. See Mozilla’s performance settings and troubleshooting guidance.
iPhone and iPad: account for memory limits
The official FAQ warns that iOS memory constraints can cause browser crashes. On an iPhone or iPad:

- Close other tabs and memory-heavy apps.
- Restart the device.
- Avoid opening several PokéRogue tabs.
- Test on a newer or less memory-constrained device if possible.
- Do not delete the home-screen web app or browser data until you understand whether progress is synchronized.
Switching from Safari to Chrome on iOS is not guaranteed to provide a completely different rendering engine; do not assume that one browser will universally solve an iPhone graphics problem.
Chromebook: check age and management policies
On a Chromebook, install pending ChromeOS updates and check whether the device is managed by a school or employer. Managed devices may block game sites, scripts, authentication, storage, or graphics features. Also check available memory and restrictive extensions. The February 2026 compatibility hotfix makes an old browser or ChromeOS installation especially worth checking, but it does not mean every Chromebook problem is fixed.
Black screen after a battle or wave
If the title screen and a new run work but one existing run becomes black after a battle, wave, or biome transition, do not immediately delete the account or clear all storage. Record:

- The displayed client version.
- The exact transition where the screen fails.
- Whether every save or only one save is affected.
- Whether another device or browser reproduces it.
- The first meaningful console error, if available.
This pattern can indicate a game-state bug, missing asset, memory problem, session issue, or save-specific failure rather than a complete website outage.

Fix login loops and saves that will not load
For a login page that refreshes or loops
- Try normal browsing as well as private browsing. A private window may impose stricter cookie behavior.
- Allow cookies and site storage for the official site.
- Temporarily relax strict tracking protection.
- Disable password-manager or autofill extensions for one test.
- Clear only PokéRogue’s site data, then reopen the official site.
- Try a second browser.
- Confirm that you are using the original account before creating anything new.
An existing GitHub issue reports a Google sign-in problem in which the page refreshed instead of completing login. Treat that as a reported issue, not evidence of a current universal bug.
For a missing or unopenable save
First confirm the account. A login to a different account can look like missing progress. Then determine whether all saves fail or only one.
Recent release notes show that loading failures can be version-specific:
- v1.12.0.2: fixed older session saves from before version 1.7.0 that could crash while loading.
- v1.12.0.5: added automatic re-download of server save data when the client detects corruption.
- v1.12.0.10: restored loading for pre-1.0.3 save data and removed invalid starter or Pokédex entries that could prevent accounts from loading.
The current production package reports version 1.12.0.10, and the latest listed release is Hotfix v1.12.0.10, released July 25, 2026. Check the current package version and release notes if the game displays a version or if the trouble began after an update.

The most useful network test is simple: switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or from a home connection to another trusted network.
- Mobile data works, Wi-Fi fails: restart the router, test another device on that Wi-Fi, and investigate DNS, filtering, firewall, proxy, or ISP routing.
- Every network fails: check service status and community reports before repeatedly changing local settings.
- Only a school or work network fails: the network may block game domains, scripts, authentication, or API traffic. An administrator may need to change the policy.
- A VPN changes the result: that suggests routing, regional filtering, or IP reputation may be involved, but it is not proof and is not a guaranteed fix.
Restarting the router is a reasonable low-risk step. Changing DNS can help when a resolver has stale or incorrect records, but it is not necessary for everyone and should be done only if you understand how to restore the original settings. A VPN can also add latency or trigger authentication challenges, so use it only as a diagnostic experiment and follow the network’s rules.
Unofficial cache-busting workaround
During a June 10, 2026 incident, players reported that adding a harmless query string helped bypass a hosting-provider cache problem:
https://pokerogue.net/?t=123
This comes from a community report, not an official PokéRogue fix. If it does not work, replace 123 with a different random number. It is not proof that your current problem is caused by caching, and it will not repair a server outage, login problem, blocked API request, or damaged save.
