Yes—Amazon officially added Alan Wake 2 to the cloud games included with Prime on Luna on February 5, 2026. However, that does not guarantee that Prime members can still play it today. Luna’s Prime catalog rotates, and Amazon’s August 2026 update did not list Alan Wake 2 among that month’s additions.
Check the live Luna catalog after signing in before assuming the game is available. If it appears as playable for your account and region, you can stream it through Luna without buying a separate copy or downloading it locally.

What Amazon actually offered
Amazon’s February 5, 2026 Luna content update listed Alan Wake 2 as a cloud game “now available” to Prime members.
That was a genuine Amazon announcement—not a rumor or a deal-tracking claim. The important distinction is that Amazon added the game to Luna’s Prime-included cloud library. It did not give Prime members a downloadable PC or console copy, nor a permanent license to keep.

- Light is your greatest weapon and only protection as dark¬ness takes over everything and everyone, and turns them against you.
- Episodic narrative
- Suspenseful and gripping storyline
Is Alan Wake 2 still available on Luna?
Amazon does not promise that every Prime Luna game remains indefinitely. The catalog is regularly updated, so a game’s availability can change by month, region, account, or service tier.
Amazon’s July and August 2026 updates highlighted other titles, including Bluey: The Videogame, Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles, Disney/Pixar Brave, WALL-E, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. They did not list Alan Wake 2 among the August additions or highlighted titles.
The individual Alan Wake 2 Luna page is still accessible, but a listing page alone does not prove that the game is currently playable through Prime. As of the August 18, 2026 availability check described by Amazon’s updates, the safest wording is: Amazon added Alan Wake 2 to Luna for Prime members in February 2026; check the live catalog to confirm whether it remains available.
How to check and play it
- Open Amazon Luna, or open the Luna games area in a supported Prime Video and Fire TV setup.
- Sign in with the Amazon account attached to your eligible Prime membership.
- Search for Alan Wake 2.
- Check the title page’s current access label. Confirm that it is included with your Prime catalog rather than requiring a separate purchase or paid tier.
- Select Play.
- Connect a compatible controller, or use phone-based controls where the device and game support them.
If the title is currently included, Luna should start a cloud session without a local game download. If it does not appear, or the page does not offer Prime access, do not assume that buying a controller, Fire TV device, or another Luna tier will restore access.

For an existing eligible Prime member, “free” means included at no additional charge while the title is part of the applicable Luna catalog. It does not mean:
- you receive a permanent copy of Alan Wake 2;
- you can download it to a PC or console;
- you can transfer the Luna entitlement to another platform;
- you can play it after Amazon removes it from the catalog; or
- you automatically receive access in every country or on every Luna tier.
Amazon’s Luna policy also distinguishes catalog access from ownership and changed its third-party-store and Bring Your Own Library arrangements in 2026. A copy purchased through Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PlayStation, or Xbox should not be assumed to grant Luna access. See Amazon’s Luna policy for third-party stores and subscriptions for the relevant changes.

Amazon has not established in the supplied announcements a single universal minimum bandwidth, latency, resolution, or frame-rate requirement for this specific game, so performance should not be guaranteed. Your experience can vary with network congestion, distance from Amazon’s service, device support, and connection stability.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPlaying through Prime Video and Fire TV
On July 23, 2026, Amazon announced that Luna games became available inside the Prime Video app on Fire TV in the United States and United Kingdom. In that setup, users can open the Prime Video Games tab and play with a controller or, where supported, a phone used as a controller. Amazon’s announcement does not establish that this particular integration is available worldwide.
That Fire TV feature is an access option, not proof that Alan Wake 2 is still in the Prime catalog. You must still check the game’s live entitlement on your account.
Is Luna a good way to play Alan Wake 2?
Luna can be a useful option if you already pay for Prime and do not own a gaming PC or current console. Cloud streaming removes the need for a large local installation and lets you try a demanding modern single-player game on supported hardware.
The game’s single-player structure may also be more forgiving of occasional interruptions than a competitive multiplayer title. But cloud gaming has clear compromises:
- Image quality: compression can be visible, particularly in dark scenes where Alan Wake 2 relies heavily on atmosphere.
- Responsiveness: network delay can make aiming and combat feel less immediate than local play.
- Reliability: congestion or an unstable connection can interrupt a session.
- Availability: catalog access can end when Amazon rotates the title out or changes regional rights.
- Ownership: Luna access is a Prime benefit, not a permanent game license.
These are general cloud-gaming trade-offs, not a claim about a specific Luna performance test.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Luna versus buying the game
| Luna through Prime | PC or console purchase |
|---|---|
| No separate game purchase while included | Requires buying the game and having compatible hardware |
| No local download or installation | Supports local play and, subject to platform features, offline access |
| Access depends on catalog and region | Better suited to long-term access |
| Performance depends on streaming quality | Usually offers more consistent local image quality and latency |
| Not a transferable ownership license | May provide platform-specific features, DLC access, or mod support |
Luna is the better fit if you already have Prime, want to sample the game, and have reliable internet. Buying it elsewhere is more appropriate if you want offline play, permanent access, the lowest possible input latency, or hardware-level control over image quality.

Troubleshooting
The game does not appear in Luna
It may have rotated out, be unavailable in your region, or be excluded from your account’s current catalog. Check the live catalog and confirm that your Amazon account and region are correct.
The title page exists but there is no Play button
Treat the page as a listing, not proof of entitlement. Verify Prime status and read the current access label. The page may remain online after catalog availability changes.
The stream looks poor or feels delayed
Reduce competing network traffic, try a less congested connection, test a supported device, and if practical use a wired network connection. Cloud performance cannot be made independent of your connection and location.
The controller is not detected
Re-pair the controller and confirm that the device supports it. On supported Fire TV setups, try the phone-control option described by Amazon.
You expected to own the game
Prime access through Luna is conditional. If Amazon removes Alan Wake 2, you may lose access even if you played it previously. Save-data and cross-platform compatibility should also be verified through Luna; do not assume that progress transfers automatically to another platform.
Verdict
Alan Wake 2 really was included with Prime on Amazon Luna beginning February 5, 2026. But the headline should not be read as a permanent or universally current “free game” offer. The practical answer is to sign in to Luna and confirm the title’s current Prime availability before relying on it. If it is still listed as playable, it is a convenient way for Prime members to stream the game without buying a console, gaming PC, or separate copy. If you want ownership or dependable long-term access, buy it for a platform you own instead.
