Amazon Prime Gaming is included with an Amazon Prime membership, but in 2026 much of its gaming experience now sits inside Amazon Luna. Prime members can claim rotating downloadable PC games, play a rotating selection through Luna where available, redeem one Twitch channel subscription each month, and receive additional Twitch and in-game perks.
It is most valuable if you already pay for Prime, watch Twitch regularly, or enjoy trying rotating PC and cloud games. It is less suitable as a replacement for a dedicated gaming subscription, a permanent cloud library, or a service built around games you already own.

What happened to Prime Gaming?
Prime Gaming has not vanished from Amazon’s support pages, but Amazon has effectively folded the standalone Prime Gaming brand into Luna. Amazon’s current direction is to make Luna the main destination for Prime-member gaming benefits, while the monthly Twitch subscription and downloadable PC-game claims continue.

Amazon’s Luna announcement describes the brand transition, while Amazon’s support hub still uses the Prime Gaming name for claims and account help.

Amazon’s current Prime Gaming help page lists the Twitch subscription, exclusive emoticons, expanded chat colors, a Prime chat badge, and 60-day broadcast storage where available. It does not promise universal ad-free Twitch viewing, so Prime Gaming should not be described as an ad-free Twitch subscription.
Prime Gaming versus Luna: downloadable games are not cloud games
The most important distinction is whether you are claiming a downloadable game or receiving access to a streamed Luna title.

Amazon’s May 2026 update described more than 50 games in the Prime-included Luna selection where cloud delivery is available. That figure and the lineup are not permanent. Luna access should be treated as rotating service access, not ownership of every streamed game.

Also note a major 2026 change: Amazon discontinued Luna’s individual game purchases, third-party game stores, and Bring Your Own Library functionality beginning April 10, 2026. Previously purchased or linked third-party titles were no longer playable through Luna after June 10, 2026. Amazon says affected EA, GOG, and Ubisoft purchases could still be accessed directly through their linked third-party accounts, but not through Luna. Details are in Amazon’s Luna changes notice.
How to claim the monthly PC games
- Open the current Prime Gaming or Luna gaming claims area and sign in with the Amazon account that has the active Prime membership.
- Review the available monthly offers.
- Select a game and read the listed redemption platform before claiming it.
- Claim or redeem the offer before its expiry date.
- Install it through the relevant platform, such as the Amazon Games app, Epic Games Store, GOG, or Legacy Games.
- Keep track of which Amazon, storefront, or gaming account received the entitlement.
Do not assume every offer appears in your Amazon Games library. Amazon’s May 2026 examples included games delivered through GOG, Amazon Games, Epic Games Store, and Legacy Games. The platform shown on the offer determines where the game is added and how it is installed.
“Keep” also needs qualification. A downloadable game claimed through a third-party platform may remain available in that platform account under its terms. That is different from Luna access, which can disappear when a title leaves the rotating catalog or when eligibility changes.
How to use the free Twitch subscription
Prime includes one free monthly subscription to an eligible Twitch Partner or Affiliate channel where the benefit is available. It gives you that channel’s subscriber benefits, such as subscriber emotes, badges, and chat privileges, while supporting the streamer without a separate subscription payment. Amazon’s guide references an ordinary subscription price of $4.99, but that is only an indicative figure: Twitch pricing varies by country, tier, tax, and purchasing method.

The subscription does not automatically renew. You must redeem it again each month, and an unused subscription generally cannot be banked indefinitely.
Link Amazon Prime and Twitch
- Create or sign in to a Twitch account.
- Sign in to the Amazon account with the Prime membership.
- Open the Prime Gaming/Twitch linking page.
- Link the Amazon and Twitch accounts and complete any requested verification, which may include a six-digit code.
- Visit the desired eligible Twitch channel.
- Open the Subscribe menu.
- Choose the option to use Prime, such as Use Prime Sub or Subscribe with Prime.
- Confirm the subscription.
Twitch’s labels can change, so look for the option that uses the included Prime subscription rather than a paid recurring subscription. Repeat the process next month if you want to support the same or another channel.
How Luna works for Prime members
Luna runs games on Amazon’s infrastructure. Your device receives a video stream and sends controller inputs back to Amazon, so local graphics hardware matters less than your network connection and latency. You do not normally download the full streamed game.
Where supported, Prime members can access Luna through compatible devices. Amazon announced Luna inside the Prime Video app on supported Fire TVs in the United States and United Kingdom starting July 23, 2026, with games available from a Games tab. Amazon says the included Prime experience requires no additional payment, download, or game purchase. A compatible controller may be used, and some supported games can use a phone as a controller.

Do not generalize phone control to every Luna title. Support depends on the game and device. Similarly, Prime-member Luna cloud access is not available everywhere, and the library changes over time.
Who should use Prime Gaming?
- Existing Prime members who watch Twitch: The monthly channel subscription may be the clearest recurring benefit, especially if you regularly support a particular streamer.
- PC players: Monthly downloadable claims can add value if you are comfortable using several storefronts and launchers.
- Casual players: Rotating games are useful if you enjoy trying smaller, older, or less predictable releases rather than choosing a specific new title on demand.
- People without a gaming PC or console: Luna can provide a low-hardware route into gaming where supported devices and a reliable connection are available.
- Families and TV households: Luna’s supported party games and phone-control options can make occasional group play convenient.
Who should not subscribe to Prime solely for gaming?
Prime Gaming is a weak fit if you want a predictable catalog of major new releases, a permanent cloud library, offline access to every title, or the ability to stream games purchased through EA, GOG, or Ubisoft from Luna. It is also less compelling if your internet connection is unreliable, you already pay for a stronger dedicated game catalog, or you will not remember to claim monthly offers.
Prime is a broader household membership, so the decision should include its other benefits. If gaming is the only feature you want, compare the total Prime membership cost with dedicated gaming services before signing up. Amazon’s Prime page is the appropriate place to check current membership details; no current price is stated here because pricing varies by market and can change.

“I have Prime, but I cannot claim a game.”
Confirm that you are using the Amazon account with Prime, that the offer has not expired, and that the offer is available in your country. Check whether the game must be redeemed through another platform or is restricted by account type, including household or teen-account rules. If the offer is current and the account is correct, retry later and consult the Amazon Games support hub.

“The game is not in my Amazon Games library.”
Check the delivery method on the original offer. It may be an Epic Games Store, GOG, Legacy Games, or another platform code, or it may be a Luna streaming entitlement rather than a downloadable game.
“My Prime Twitch subscription is missing.”
- Sign out of both Amazon and Twitch.
- Sign back in to the intended accounts.
- Check the linked-account settings.
- Reopen the channel’s subscription menu.
- Try a desktop browser if the mobile app does not show the Prime option.
- Contact Amazon or Twitch support if the accounts appear linked but the benefit remains unavailable.
Other possible causes include an unexpired previous subscription, an ineligible channel, regional restrictions, or a purchase flow that does not expose the Prime option.
“Do I keep Luna games forever?”
No. Luna games are rotating access, not automatically permanent downloadable ownership. A separate downloadable entitlement claimed through a storefront is governed by that storefront’s terms and should not be confused with the Luna version.

There is no universal winner; the right comparison depends on what you want:
- Xbox Game Pass: A better fit if you want a dedicated, broad game-subscription catalog across supported Xbox and PC devices.
- PlayStation Plus: The natural alternative for PlayStation owners seeking console-based membership benefits.
- GeForce NOW: A better fit for users who want to stream supported games they already own through compatible PC storefronts, subject to its current policies and game support.
- Publisher subscriptions: Services such as Ubisoft+ can suit players committed to one publisher’s catalog, but publisher access through Luna should not be assumed after the 2026 changes.
- Individual PC-store giveaways: Better for people who only want to build a free game library and do not need Twitch or other Prime benefits.
Verdict
Prime Gaming is best understood as a bonus package attached to Prime, not as a replacement for a full gaming platform. Its strongest reasons to use it are the manually redeemed monthly Twitch subscription, claimable downloadable PC games, and convenient Luna access for supported users. Existing Prime members should activate those benefits; people considering Prime only for gaming should first decide whether rotating offers and cloud access match the way they play.
