Epic Games’ mobile free-games program is already live—it launched on January 24, 2025, rather than starting in August 2026. Epic currently advertises a new mobile free game every Thursday, but availability depends on your device, country and the individual offer.
Android users can access the Epic Games Store worldwide, subject to legal restrictions. On iPhone and iPad, the store is limited to selected regions, including the European Union; Epic also lists iPhone support in Japan, but not iPad support there.

What Epic is offering
The program runs through the Epic Games Store mobile app, the storefront used to browse, claim, download and update games. It is separate from the Epic Games app, which provides account, chat and Epic Authenticator features but is not the mobile game store.

It added third-party games and launched the mobile Free Games program on January 24, 2025. Early promotions included Bloons TD 6, Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee and the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games, but those are historical examples—not a current catalog.

Where the Epic Games Store works
| Device | Availability |
|---|---|
| Android | Worldwide, except locations restricted by applicable law or sanctions. |
| iPhone | European Union and Japan, according to Epic’s current mobile pages. |
| iPad | European Union. Epic’s support information says the store is unavailable on iPad in Japan. |
| United States | Android is supported; Epic does not list iPhone or iPad availability as generally supported. |
Epic says Brazil is planned for later in 2026, but has not supplied a firm launch date. Do not use a VPN or another workaround to bypass regional restrictions; wait for official availability.
Device and software requirements
- Android: Epic’s support article lists SDK 24 or later and recommends SDK 34 or later for optimal performance. Its general download page instead describes Android 8/SDK 26 as the minimum, so check your device and the specific game listing.
- iPhone in the EU: iOS 17.6 or later.
- iPhone in Japan: iOS 26.2 or later.
- iPad: iPadOS 18 or later, where the store is available.
- Store app storage: Approximately 25 MB, although individual games can require substantially more space.
These are requirements for the storefront, not a guarantee that every game will run. A demanding game may require newer software, more capable hardware or additional storage.
How to install it on Android
- Open Epic’s official Android download page.
- Download the Epic Games Store installer.
- If Android blocks the file, open Settings and search for install unknown apps. Allow installation only for the browser or file manager you used to download the installer.
- Install and open the store.
- Sign in to an existing Epic account or create one.
- Open the mobile Free Games section, select the current offer and follow the claim or installation instructions.
Download the installer only from Epic’s official website. The Epic Games Store is an alternative Android storefront; it is not the same app as Epic’s account-and-chat app distributed through Google Play.

How to install it on iPhone or iPad
- Confirm that your country is supported and that your device meets the required iOS or iPadOS version.
- Open Epic’s official iOS download page.
- Follow the region-specific installation process shown by Epic.
- Install the Epic Games Store, sign in and open its Free Games section.
- Review the current offer’s platform, region and deadline before claiming it.
This is not a universal iPhone sideloading process. Installation rules and availability are region-dependent, and Epic does not currently list the United States as a supported iPhone or iPad region.
How claiming works
The store app is free to install, and you need an Epic account to manage claimed games. Open the current offer in the mobile store, read its terms, then claim or install it before the displayed deadline.
Do not assume that every mobile promotion creates the same permanent entitlement as a PC giveaway. The offer may be a limited-time giveaway, a free-to-play game, a demo, a content pack or another type of entitlement. Check the individual listing for what you receive, whether installation is required immediately, and how long access lasts.
Android and iPhone/iPad entitlements should also be treated as platform-specific unless the individual Epic listing expressly says otherwise. Availability, pricing and claim periods can differ by country and platform.

What “free” means
- Free-to-play: The base game costs nothing to download, but optional in-app purchases may be available. Epic describes games such as its own mobile titles this way.
- Limited-time giveaway: A normally paid game is offered at no cost during a stated claim period. Read the offer terms rather than assuming “free” means free forever.
- Free content or promotion: The offer may be an item, pack, demo or temporary access entitlement rather than a complete paid game.
Epic also advertises Epic Rewards of 5% to 20% back on eligible Epic Games Store purchases, subject to its terms. Rewards do not turn paid games or optional in-game purchases into free products.

The store is unavailable on iPhone
Check your region, operating-system version and the app you are trying to install. The Epic Games app is not the Epic Games Store. If your region is unsupported, there is no official installation route to recommend yet.
Android blocks the installer
Search Android Settings for install unknown apps and authorize only the browser or file manager used to obtain the official installer. Disable that permission afterward if you do not need it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsA game is listed but cannot be installed
Check the product page for game-specific hardware and software requirements. Other explanations include regional or platform restrictions, an expired giveaway, insufficient storage, an account or age restriction, or claiming the offer on a different platform.

Epic’s catalog changes dynamically. Use the official free-games page and verify the exact title, date and time checked, countdown or end date, supported platforms, type of offer and any country exclusions.
Security and family checks
- Verify that the download domain is Epic’s official site before installing.
- Use one established Epic account rather than creating duplicates.
- Enable two-factor authentication or Epic Authenticator.
- Review parental controls, age limits and purchase settings before allowing downloads.
- Remember that free-to-play games may contain optional purchases.
Who should use Epic’s mobile store?
It is most useful for Android players who want an additional storefront, Epic account integration and recurring giveaway offers. Supported iPhone and iPad users may also find it worthwhile, although regional availability and installation rules make the experience less universal than on Android.
The trade-offs are another account and update path, Android installation outside Google Play, a smaller or less familiar catalog than established stores, possible in-app purchases, and the need to check every game’s compatibility separately. Epic identifies cross-platform progression for supported games such as Fortnite and Fall Guys, but that should not be assumed for every title.
