What this file actually does
AMCDOM.dll belongs to NeroVision, Nero’s older video-authoring application. The product was originally associated with Ahead Software AG and later Nero AG. Historical NeroVision installations load the file alongside NeroVision.exe and other Nero-specific modules.
The normal location is inside the Nero program folder, for example:
C:Program FilesAheadNeroVisionAMCDOM.dll
C:Program FilesNeroNero 7Nero VisionAMCDOM.dll
The exact folder depends on the Nero release and how it was installed. It should not normally be placed in:

C:WindowsSysWOW64
Those folders contain Windows components, not the private files of an old Nero application. On 64-bit Windows, System32 generally contains 64-bit system components and SysWOW64 contains 32-bit Windows components. Neither is the correct default location for this Nero DLL.
Historical records show AMCDOM.dll in NeroVision Express and NeroVision installations across several old product generations. Those records are not a complete official version catalog, so do not use an advertised file size or version number to choose a download.

Fix 1: Repair or reinstall NeroVision
This is the most likely solution because AMCDOM.dll is an application-private file.
Confirm which program is failing
- Read the complete error message.
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
- Select Details.
- Look for
NeroVision.exe, or check the application named in the error. - Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for Nero, NeroVision, or Nero Vision.
If another program is requesting the file, do not assume that installing Nero will fix it. First identify the executable that displays the error.

Check the existing Nero folder
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the Nero installation folder.
- Look for
NeroVision.exeandAMCDOM.dllin the same folder or its expected module directory. - If
AMCDOM.dllis present, right-click it and select Properties. - Check the General and Details tabs for its full path and file information.
- Do not move it to
System32orSysWOW64.
If the DLL is missing while the surrounding Nero files remain, the installation is incomplete. If the file exists but Nero still fails, continue with the dependency and integrity checks below.
Repair from the original installer
Use the original Nero installer or a legitimate download associated with the purchased Nero product.
- Close Nero and any disc-burning software.
- Back up Nero serial numbers, project files, custom templates, and other personal data.
- Run the Nero installer.
- Choose Repair if that option is offered.
- If no repair option appears, uninstall the affected Nero product from Settings > Apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the installer again.
- Install the same product family and release where possible.
- Restart Windows once more.
- Launch NeroVision from its installed shortcut.
A successful repair restores AMCDOM.dll beside the appropriate NeroVision executable. It does not require manually registering the DLL.

Use Nero’s cleanup utility when reinstalling fails
Older Nero installations can leave behind files or registry entries that prevent a clean reinstall. Nero provides an official FirstAidKit for cleaning failed or incomplete Nero installations.
Use it only after recording your serial number and backing up personal Nero data. The cleanup process can remove Nero-related files and registry entries.
- Uninstall Nero from Settings > Apps if Windows still lists it.
- Download the FirstAidKit from Nero’s official support site.
- Close all Nero programs.
- Run the cleanup utility as an administrator.
- Follow its removal prompts.
- Restart Windows.
- Install Nero again from the original, legitimate installer.
- Check whether
NeroVision.exelaunches without the missing-file message.
A current Nero installer may not include the old NeroVision component. Do not assume that a modern release contains this legacy DLL.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
If Nero worked until the file suddenly disappeared, antivirus action is a reasonable possibility.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections and quarantined items.
- Expand an item that refers to the Nero installation folder or
AMCDOM.dll. - Confirm that the original path was inside the legitimate Nero folder.
- Check the detection name and scan details.
- Do not restore the file solely because its filename is correct.
If the file clearly came from your genuine Nero installation, scan the system first, then use Windows Security’s restore or allow action only when you understand the detection. Follow that by repairing or reinstalling Nero so the complete set of modules is restored.

Do not disable antivirus protection merely to obtain a DLL. A malicious file can use the same filename as a genuine application module.
If the file came from a temporary folder, a download directory, or an unknown program, leave it quarantined and run a full scan. For a stronger check, use Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Microsoft Defender Offline scan.

Fix 3: Do not install Visual C++ or DirectX blindly
AMCDOM.dll is not a Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable file, and it is not a Windows component. Installing a runtime will not recreate this Nero DLL.
NeroVision may depend on other components. Historical Nero documentation lists DirectX as a product requirement for some NeroVision Express releases, but that does not establish one universal DirectX or Visual C++ package for every old Nero build.

A 32-bit NeroVision application can run on 64-bit Windows. Installing a 64-bit replacement for an old 32-bit application DLL is not an appropriate fix.
Fix 4: Run DISM and System File Checker for Windows corruption
DISM and SFC repair protected Windows components. They normally do not restore an application-private Nero DLL, so use them as secondary checks rather than the primary repair.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test NeroVision again.
DISM should be run before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test. If it reports that it could not repair some files, run DISM again, verify that Windows Update is working, and repeat SFC once. Do not expect these commands to manufacture AMCDOM.dll.

Fix 5: Do not use regsvr32 as a generic DLL repair
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 AMCDOM.dll
regsvr32 applies to DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. An application-private Nero module is not automatically a COM or ActiveX server.

If you run the command and receive:
The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found
that usually means registration does not apply. It does not, by itself, prove that the file is corrupt.
Use the Nero installer to restore the correct file and its surrounding modules instead.

Fix 6: Check drivers only when the error names a driver
A graphics or disc-burning driver can cause Nero to fail after AMCDOM.dll loads, but a driver update will not replace the missing Nero DLL.
If the complete error names a display, capture, optical-drive, or other driver:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties > Driver.
- Record the provider and version.
- Use Windows Update or the hardware manufacturer’s official support page.
- Restart and test Nero.
Do not replace drivers merely because the filename is missing. Outbyte Driver Updater can show which drivers it identifies as stale, but installation through the full version is optional and the Nero reinstall remains the definitive solution for AMCDOM.dll.
Fix 7: Handle an unavailable legacy installer
If you no longer have the original Nero installer:
- Check your legitimate Nero account or purchase records.
- Look for the original installation media and serial number.
- Contact Nero support about the product license and available installer.
- Do not download an isolated
AMCDOM.dll. - If the old product cannot be obtained, consider a currently supported Nero product only if it meets your needs.
- Do not assume a current installer contains the old NeroVision component.
If the error appears on a computer where Nero is no longer installed, open Task Manager > Startup apps and inspect installed programs. Remove a stale Nero startup entry only after confirming that no required Nero component uses it. If the entry points to an unknown folder, scan the system before restoring or downloading anything.

- Select System Restore.

- Review the affected programs.

System Restore changes system files, settings, and installed programs but normally does not change personal files. It cannot create a legitimate Nero installer or guarantee that an old application will run.

If the DLL exists but Nero still fails
A present file does not prove that it is the correct file. Check:
- The full path of
AMCDOM.dll - The full path of
NeroVision.exe - The exact Windows error
- The Windows version
- The Nero product and release
- Whether the failure occurs at launch, authoring, capture, or disc burning
Mixed Nero versions are a common explanation. A copied DLL may have different internal interfaces, language resources, dependencies, or malicious modifications. Remove the inconsistent installation and reinstall the complete product from one legitimate installer.
If the error changes after restoration and names another DLL, that second message identifies a dependency problem. Fix the newly named dependency from its official vendor rather than replacing AMCDOM.dll again.
