It is a genuine fix, but not a universal solution for every F1 25 crash or every Radeon GPU.
Because 25.5.2 is a historical 2025 package, users should not assume it is the best driver to install today. It is most relevant to RX 9000 owners who are troubleshooting the specific path-tracing crash described by AMD.

What AMD 25.5.2 fixes
AMD lists this release as fixing intermittent application crashes in F1 25 with path tracing enabled on Radeon RX 9000-series graphics products.
That wording matters. The release notes do not claim to fix every crash in the game, guarantee stable path tracing in all situations, improve performance, or resolve the same problem on older Radeon generations. If your crash happens with path tracing disabled, the documented fix may not apply.
#1 Best Overall
- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
Adrenalin 25.5.2 also includes official F1 25 support. AMD’s preceding 25.5.1 release had already listed the game under new support, making 25.5.2 a follow-up optional update focused on the reported launch-era stability problem.
Driver names and versions
These identifiers refer to the same package:
- Product name: AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.5.2 Optional Update
- AMD driver version: 25.10.01.12
- Windows Driver Store version: 32.0.21001.12002
AMD reports that the WHQL test suite passed, while Microsoft certification is listed as Not Applicable. Therefore, it is more accurate to call this an optional update that passed AMD’s stated WHQL testing than to describe it simply as a Microsoft-certified WHQL driver or as a beta release.
Compatible Radeon hardware
AMD lists the following desktop product families as compatible with the package:

- Radeon RX 9070 series
- Radeon RX 7900, RX 7800, RX 7700, RX 7650 and RX 7600 series
- Radeon RX 6900, RX 6800, RX 6700, RX 6600, RX 6500 and RX 6400 series
- Radeon RX 5700, RX 5600, RX 5500 and RX 5300 series
Supported mobility products include the RX 7900M, RX 7800M, RX 7600M, RX 6800M, RX 6700M, RX 6600M, RX 6500M, RX 6300M, RX 5700M, RX 5600M, RX 5500M and RX 5300M.
Compatibility with the installer is broader than the documented fix. AMD specifically attributes the path-tracing crash correction to RX 9000-series products. RX 7000, RX 6000 and older owners should not assume that this particular fix resolves their F1 25 crashes merely because their card can install the driver.
Supported Windows versions
AMD lists support for:
- Windows 11: version 21H2 and later
- Windows 10: 64-bit version 1809 and later
The package is intended for 64-bit Windows installations. It requires administrator privileges to install and is not intended for AMD Radeon products running through Apple Boot Camp.
Laptop and handheld users need extra caution
AMD describes its mobile package as a notebook reference driver and recommends checking the laptop or all-in-one manufacturer’s support page first. OEM drivers may include platform-specific support for display switching, power management, hotkeys and other features that a generic AMD.com package may not fully reproduce.
If the reference driver causes problems, AMD recommends reinstalling the manufacturer-provided graphics driver. AMD Software also does not include support for handheld gaming devices; handheld owners should use the driver supplied by the device manufacturer.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBefore installing
- Confirm that the GPU and Windows version are supported.
- Laptop and all-in-one users should check the OEM support page before replacing the manufacturer’s driver.
- Record the current driver version so you can identify or restore the previously working setup.
- Close F1 25, game launchers, browsers and GPU-monitoring or tuning utilities.
Installation steps
- Download the installer from AMD.
- Run it with administrator rights.
- Follow the Adrenalin installation prompts.
- Restart Windows if requested.
- Launch F1 25 and reproduce the same circuit, graphics preset and path-tracing settings that previously caused the crash.
- Check AMD Software or Windows Device Manager to confirm the installed driver version.
Should you install this optional driver?
| Your situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| RX 9000 desktop GPU, and F1 25 intermittently crashes with path tracing enabled | 25.5.2 is a reasonable driver to test because it specifically lists this fix. |
| RX 7000 or older Radeon GPU | Do not expect the RX 9000-specific fix to apply. Install only if another documented reason supports the change. |
| Laptop or all-in-one PC | Check the manufacturer’s driver first and keep the OEM package available for rollback. |
| Game is stable and you do not use path tracing | There is no compelling reason to replace a stable setup with this older optional package. |
| Handheld gaming device | Use the handheld manufacturer’s driver instead. |
Installing 25.5.2 should not be treated as a guaranteed performance upgrade. AMD’s release notes document a targeted crash fix, not a general F1 25 performance improvement.
Known issues that remain
AMD lists two important problems in the same release:
- Stutter and lower-than-expected performance when alt-tabbing and streaming to Discord with multiple monitors.
- Intermittent system crashes when using multiple high-resolution monitors with AMD FreeSync on Radeon RX 9000-series graphics products.
These issues may matter more than the F1 25 fix for users who stream through Discord, run several high-resolution displays or rely heavily on FreeSync. Consider that trade-off before changing a stable driver installation.
If F1 25 still crashes
A continued crash does not prove that the driver installation failed; AMD’s fix covers a specific intermittent condition. Use this conservative diagnostic sequence:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Disable path tracing and test whether the game remains stable.
- Temporarily disable Discord, Steam, EA App and Radeon overlays.
- Return GPU overclocking, undervolting and tuning settings to factory defaults.
- Verify or repair the F1 25 installation through the relevant launcher.
- Restart Windows and retest after shader compilation has completed.
- If the issue began after installing 25.5.2, follow AMD’s official uninstall guidance and return to the previously stable driver.
- For a laptop or all-in-one, test the manufacturer’s graphics driver.
If only path tracing triggers the crash, leaving path tracing disabled is the most direct workaround while retaining the rest of the driver update. AMD’s release notes do not promise that 25.5.2 eliminates every path-tracing stability problem.
Bottom line
AMD 25.5.2 is a legitimate optional Windows driver update for F1 25, and its key fix is narrowly defined: intermittent path-tracing application crashes on Radeon RX 9000-series graphics products. It is worth considering for that exact setup, but older Radeon owners, laptop users and anyone already running a stable system should not treat it as a universal or automatically current recommendation.
