Possibly—but it is not confirmed. Microsoft has announced that its next-generation first-party Xbox, Project Helix, will use a custom AMD SoC. A report citing hardware leaker KeplerL2 says the chip reportedly known as Magnus may also be available to PC makers, potentially including Asus or MSI. Neither Microsoft, AMD nor those manufacturers has confirmed a Magnus-powered product.

What Microsoft has confirmed about Project Helix

Microsoft describes Project Helix as its next-generation first-party Xbox console, designed to play Xbox console and PC games. In an Xbox Wire summary from March 11, 2026, Xbox VP Jason Ronald said the system is powered by a custom AMD SoC, co-designed for the next generation of DirectX and FSR. Microsoft has not publicly identified that chip as a retail product called Magnus.

Microsoft says it plans to begin shipping alpha versions of the hardware to developers in 2027. That is a planned developer-hardware milestone, not a consumer release date. Microsoft’s Project Helix announcement

Why other manufacturers could be involved

Microsoft and AMD announced a multi-year partnership in June 2025 to co-engineer silicon across a portfolio that includes future first-party consoles and cloud gaming. The announcement also described gaming-optimized chips for consoles, handhelds, PCs and cloud. It establishes a broad collaboration, but does not say that the specific chip reportedly called Magnus will be sold to outside manufacturers. Microsoft and AMD’s partnership announcement

What the Magnus report says—and what it does not

Notebookcheck reported on April 21, 2026, that hardware leaker KeplerL2 had suggested Magnus would not be exclusive to Project Helix. The report raised the possibility that OEMs such as Asus and MSI could build gaming systems around the APU. It did not identify confirmed products, a supply agreement, specifications, prices or a release schedule. Notebookcheck’s report on possible OEM systems

A separate Notebookcheck report distinguishes Microsoft’s confirmed first-party Helix console from speculation about third-party systems. It does not establish that Asus, MSI or any other maker will release a Magnus-based device. Notebookcheck on first-party Helix and third-party speculation

What this means for a future buyer

For now, there are no confirmed Magnus-powered systems to compare or buy. If a manufacturer announces one, the useful questions will be its exact chip configuration, form factor, performance, price, software and storefront support, and availability. None of those product details is established by the current announcements and reporting.
