Xbox’s June 8, 2025 showcase recap says players can explore and capture Aniimo, battle in real time, and use Twining to become one of the creatures. The game was announced for 2026, but no exact release date was given.
What is Aniimo?
Aniimo is an open-world action RPG from Pawprint Studio centered on finding and capturing creatures called Aniimo. The reveal places the adventure in Idyll, a world described by Executive Producer Jovi Zhang as dynamic, with creatures that respond to terrain and weather. Xbox introduced the trailer as a world premiere during its June 8, 2025 Games Showcase. Xbox’s showcase recap provides the official game description.

What does the reveal trailer show about gameplay?
Xbox’s description identifies exploration, creature capture, real-time battles, and a central mechanic called Twining. Twining lets players become an Aniimo, changing how they experience the game; the announcement does not provide detailed controls or explain how the mechanic affects combat beyond that premise.
The June 2025 developer-authored overview adds examples of Aniimo adapting to their surroundings. A later Xbox Wire feature, published September 25, 2025, describes creature personalities and relationships: Stellarys can develop a Rainy Form when it evolves on rainy days, while Glacy protects other Aniimo when threatened. These are descriptions from Zhang, not independently documented gameplay tests. Read the June overview and the September creature feature.

When does Aniimo release?
The showcase recap gives 2026 as the planned arrival year. It does not state a specific day or month, so an exact release date cannot be confirmed from that announcement.
