To get the Festivale Float in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, trade Pavé three rainbow feathers after you have received all nine regular Festivale furniture rewards. Catch feathers with a net, then choose between three matching regular feathers for a same-color item or one rainbow feather for a rainbow item. Festivale dates vary by year: February 15 was Nintendo’s announced date for the 2021 event, not a guaranteed date for every year.
When Festivale happens and what you need
Festivale is an in-game carnival hosted by Pavé, who appears in the island plaza during the event. The date depends on the year; Nintendo announced February 15 for the 2021 event, while GameSpot describes the annual date as falling in February or March. Check the date for the specific year rather than assuming February 15 is current.
Nintendo’s January 26, 2021 announcement said players needed the latest update data for the event and upgraded Resident Services for Pavé’s plaza appearance. Those are the conditions stated for that update cycle. To visit friends’ islands online, Nintendo said players need a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo’s announcement
How to collect feathers
Bring a net and catch feathers floating around the island. There are five colors: green, red, blue, purple, and rainbow. The four regular colors can also be combined to make a rainbow feather once Pavé gives you the recipe.

What to trade Pavé for furniture
Pavé’s trade choice determines the color of the reward: three regular feathers of one color earn a furniture item in that color, while one rainbow feather earns a rainbow variant. He gives a different regular item until you have the nine-item set; after that, trades repeat rewards.
| Offer Pavé | Reward | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Three regular feathers of the same color | A Festivale furniture item in that color | Targeting a green, red, blue, or purple variant |
| One rainbow feather | A rainbow furniture variant | Targeting rainbow furniture |
The nine regular items are the Festivale balloon lamp, confetti machine, drum, flag, garland, lamp, parasol, stage, and stall. Each has green, red, blue, purple, and rainbow variants. GameSpot’s Festivale guide

Villager feather exchanges
Villagers may offer to exchange regular feathers. The offered color is random, rainbow feathers are excluded, and the number offered can be up to three, depending on the inventory stack. This can help when you are short of a particular regular color, but it does not substitute for the rainbow feathers needed for the float.

How to unlock the Festivale Float
- Trade feathers with Pavé until he has given you all nine different regular furniture items.
- Once the set is complete, bring Pavé three rainbow feathers in a single trade.
- He gives you the Festivale Float. It is a separate reward and cannot be customized.
GameSpot says that after the nine regular rewards, Pavé repeats items, and that you can earn another float by completing another cycle of nine trades while the event is still underway. Plan for the full sequence if you want more than one float: the three-rainbow-feather trade comes after each completed cycle.

That guide also reports that most regular furniture appeared in the upgraded Nook’s Cranny seasonal slot from February 1 through 15, while the float was event-exclusive. Those dates and shop details describe the 2021 guide’s coverage and should not be treated as a schedule for later years.
Clothing and reactions around the event
Nintendo’s 2021 announcement said Festivale clothing would appear at Able Sisters beginning February 1 for a limited time. It also listed the Viva Festival Reaction Set—Feelin’ It, Let’s Go, Viva, and Confetti—as a limited-time Bells purchase at Nook’s Cranny. These were details for the 2021 update cycle, not a promise of the same dates in every year. Nintendo’s event announcement

Choose a feather strategy
- Want one particular regular color? Save three feathers of that color for each Pavé trade.
- Want rainbow furniture? Use a rainbow feather for that trade, or craft one from one green, one red, one blue, and one purple feather after you obtain the recipe.
- Want the float? Prioritize completing all nine regular rewards, then reserve three rainbow feathers for Pavé.
- Short on time or feathers? Decide whether the remaining event time is better spent targeting a furniture color or completing the nine-item cycle for the float.
