Nintendo’s official event page lists a Mario Kart World update, several games for Nintendo Switch 2, and other announcements—but it does not tell us which five things the original article expected or which three it ruled out. Without that pre-event list, those predictions cannot be fairly scored.
What Nintendo announced at the September 9, 2026 Direct
Nintendo identifies the presentation as “Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026.” Its official event page is the primary record of what appeared. The page includes a free update for Mario Kart World, three Resident Evil titles coming to Nintendo Switch 2, two Persona games coming to the system, and a Nintendo Treehouse: Live follow-up featuring gameplay from selected titles.
The event page also includes a Lara Croft adventure, a Wuhu Island sports title, Mega Man: Dual Override, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, and confirmation that a Yo-kai Watch 2 remake is in development. Nintendo’s page uses promotional headings in places, so check its individual entries for exact title and platform details rather than inferring them from a headline.
Why the original five predictions and three exclusions can’t be scored
The event record confirms what Nintendo presented; it does not establish what this article’s author expected beforehand. The headline alone does not identify the five anticipated items or the three exclusions. Reconstructing that list from the announcements would turn a preview into hindsight presented as prediction.
#1 Best Overall

- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps

- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
A reliable retrospective needs the original pre-event draft, notes, or source links. With that material, each item could be compared against Nintendo’s page as explicitly shown, absent, or only partly addressed—and classified as a new reveal, an update or date, or a previously announced game. The evidence should also distinguish confirmed Switch 2 games from titles for other platforms and record whether Nintendo gave a release date, window, or no timing.
What absence from one Direct does—and doesn’t—mean
Nintendo’s 2026 Direct archive shows that the company used multiple presentation formats, including a Partner Showcase and focused, game-specific Directs. A title missing from this presentation therefore cannot be treated as proof that it does not exist or will never be announced; the event’s format and scope matter.

Nor should games announced earlier be counted as September reveals. Nintendo’s June 2026 recap had already covered a substantial Switch 2 slate, including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, KINGDOM HEARTS IV, Xenoblade Genesis, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and Pokémon Pokopia. These are earlier announcements, not new September announcements, unless the September presentation separately supplied a fresh update. See Nintendo Australia’s June 2026 recap for that earlier context.

Nintendo’s October 6, 2026 corporate release describes a Japan-only Nintendo Switch 2 bundle scheduled for November 12 at 63,980 yen, including the system and Joy-Con 2 hardware. That release came after the September Direct, so it is separate product news—not part of the presentation. The October 6 release establishes the stated Japanese bundle details, not availability or pricing in other regions.
