TechWiser’s September 2025 tier list, updated September 19, ranks a selected group of Anime Vanguards units from SS to C. It is a dated, unofficial snapshot—not a complete ranking of every unit or a current-meta recommendation for October 2026. Use it to see what that guide recommended at the time, then weigh role, mode, team fit and in-game Yen cost before investing.
September 2025 tier list at a glance
The placements below reproduce the units TechWiser included in its September 19, 2025 article. They are the author’s rankings, not an official developer tier list. TechWiser said the game had over 200 unique units in 2025, but its article covered only a selected portion of that pool.

What the September 2025 SS choices cost and do
TechWiser’s table gave deployment and total upgrade costs for its SS entries. These figures are in-game Yen, not real-world prices. The listed rarity and role are also the guide’s classifications.

These costs help explain why a tier label alone is not an investment plan: a unit’s placement does not show whether its price fits your economy or team. For example, TechWiser listed Arin (Rumbling) at 193,300 Yen total, while The Falcon (of Light) had a 1,000 Yen total in the same table.
Song Jinwu and Igros: guide-reported mechanics
TechWiser described Song Jinwu and Igros as a damage dealer with summoned-unit synergies. The guide reported that “The Army’s Supply” can increase damage by up to 30% as mana is lost, and “The General” can add up to 50% damage when allied summons are defeated. It also described further range and damage gains when no summons are on the field. These are the guide’s reported mechanics, not independently verified observations.

Why those rankings are tied to a specific update
A tier list is a judgment about a particular roster, balance state and mode—not a permanent property of a unit. Stealthy Gaming’s October 1, 2025 guide characterized Update 8.5 as adding an effective-DPS system, balance adjustments and new units. Its analysis said that emphasizing consistent damage against high-value targets could favor some hybrid or support units over pure area-damage choices, and noted tournament-rule changes. That is the guide’s interpretation; the sources available here do not establish the changes through primary developer patch notes.
The roster has since moved on. Pocket Gamer’s October 2, 2026 Update 13.0 list includes later SS entries such as Beerus, Kratos, Savior (Moonless) and Deceiver (Monster), rather than simply repeating the September 2025 selection. The two publishers may use different ranking methods, but the later list is enough to show why the old placements should not be presented as current.

How to use a tier list when choosing a unit
Start with the job your team needs
Check whether you need damage, support, crowd control, a hybrid kit or a unit suited to a particular boss. A support or control unit may contribute substantial team value without topping raw DPS rankings.
Match the unit to the mode
Story progression, wave clearing, Infinite, tournaments and limited-time events can reward different strengths. The September list speaks broadly about the meta, while the Update 8.5 guide discusses Story, Infinite and Tournaments; neither establishes that one placement is best in every mode.

Account for deployment and upgrade costs
Compare the initial deployment cost with the total cost shown for the unit, then consider what else your team needs. A high placement cannot compensate for a build that you cannot afford to complete or that leaves a role uncovered.
Consider team synergy and build
Effective damage, support effects, crowd control and interactions with allied units can change how useful a unit is. Treat a tier as a starting comparison, not a guarantee that the unit will perform the same way in every lineup.

Check the date before committing resources
Look for the list’s publication or update date and the game update it covers. If a guide predates major balance changes or newer units, seek a newer ranking rather than carrying the old tiers forward.
