Anime Vanguards Update 1, titled Cursed Showdown, was live by October 22, 2024. Its original October 20 date was changed to an October 21 target of 2:00 PM PT, but that target was missed. The available reports do not establish the exact time the update ultimately became playable.
Anime Vanguards Update 1 release timeline
| Date and time | What happened |
|---|---|
| October 20, 2024 | The initial release date announced in the trailer, as reported retrospectively by Beebom. |
| October 21, 2024, 2:00 PM PT | The revised announced target. It was not the final launch time: a 2:20 PM PT report said testing was still underway and the update was not live. |
| October 21, 2024, 2:35 PM PT | Beebom reported that developers had shared on the Anime Vanguards Discord that testing had uncovered “two serious bugs.” |
| October 22, 2024 | Beebom added an editor’s note saying Update 1 was live. The note did not give an exact go-live time. |
The schedule and later status are distinct: October 21 at 2:00 PM PT was a delayed target that slipped, while the October 22 note confirms the update had subsequently launched. The cited account does not establish when during that interval it went live.
Why was the update delayed?
According to Beebom’s October 21 report of a developer announcement on the Anime Vanguards Discord, the team encountered “two serious bugs” during testing. That explains why the announced 2:00 PM PT target was missed, but the report does not identify the bugs or provide an independent technical account.
What was Cursed Showdown?
Cursed Showdown was the name of Update 1. Beebom’s release report pointed to new units and game modes and showed Shibuya Station as the stage location in the trailer, but the available account does not provide a complete, reliable list of everything that shipped. For that reason, those details should not be treated as an exhaustive patch summary.
