AOC’s Q24G4E is a compact 23.8-inch gaming monitor with a 2560×1440 QHD resolution, 180Hz refresh rate and Fast IPS panel. AOC rates it at 1ms GtG and 0.5ms MPRT, while also listing Adaptive-Sync, HDR10 and wide-gamut colour coverage. Its key catch is connectivity: the full 180Hz QHD mode requires DisplayPort, while HDMI is listed at up to 144Hz.
The monitor launched in China at 999 yuan on May 26, 2024. Regional availability and pricing vary, and it should not be confused with the similarly named Full HD AOC 24G4E.

The Q24G4E uses the informal “2K” positioning common in launch coverage, but its precise resolution is QHD, or 2560×1440. At 23.8 inches, that works out to approximately 123 pixels per inch—considerably sharper than a conventional 23.8-inch 1920×1080 monitor.
#1 Best Overall
- SHARP CLARITY: This 24'' class (23.8″ viewable) AOC gaming monitor delivers crisp Full HD visuals. Enjoy games, movies, and videos with remarkable detail, all wrapped in a 3-sided frameless design, perfect for multi-monitor setups
- SPEED INTO VICTORY: Lightning-fast 200Hz refresh rate and rapid 1ms MPRT response time lets you target moving opponents with precision. With Adaptive-Sync and low input lag, fast-moving action and dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the effects of ghosting
- ASTONISHING COLORS: Enjoy true-to-life images and vivid colors with 116% sRGB wide color gamut. Elevate your viewing experience with HDR ready
- THE ULTIMATE BATTLE STATION: This sleek gaming monitor is frameless on three sides, so you get minimal bezel distraction. Enjoy next level immersion by creating your own seamless multi-monitor setup
- BETTER CONSOLE GAMING: AOC gaming monitors are designed to maximize the performance of your consoles by unleashing up to 120Hz frame rate (exact performance depends on consoles) and ultra low latency with its low input lag mode, giving you an edge over your opponents
That density can make text, fine game detail and desktop elements look crisp. It also means that some users may want 125% or 150% operating-system scaling, larger in-game interface settings or browser zoom. People who prefer larger text or a more immersive image may find a 27-inch QHD monitor more comfortable, while small-desk users and competitive players may prefer the Q24G4E’s compact footprint.
180Hz Fast IPS gaming features
AOC lists a 180Hz maximum refresh rate and Fast IPS panel. Compared with a 60Hz or 75Hz display, 180Hz can provide smoother motion and more responsive-looking gameplay when the system is rendering enough frames. Esports titles are more likely to approach 180 frames per second at 1440p; modern AAA games may require reduced settings or upscaling.
The monitor also supports Adaptive-Sync, intended to reduce tearing when the frame rate changes. AOC lists MBR Sync as well, a motion-blur-reduction feature that uses backlight behaviour to improve perceived motion clarity. Such modes can involve compromises—including lower brightness or restrictions on variable refresh rate—and the available specifications do not establish how well the modes work together in every setting.
AOC’s 1ms GtG and 0.5ms MPRT figures are different measurements. GtG describes a rated pixel transition, while MPRT is associated with perceived motion persistence and commonly with strobing modes. Neither figure is the same as input lag or total end-to-end latency. No independent input-lag or response-time measurements are established by the sources reviewed.
Use DisplayPort for the full 180Hz
This is one of the most important practical details. AOC’s specification sheet lists:
Rank #2
- 24" FULL HD IPS GAMING DISPLAY Experience smooth and vivid gameplay on a 23.8-inch Full HD IPS panel with wide viewing angles and accurate color reproduction.
- 180HZ REFRESH RATE Enjoy ultra-smooth gaming with up to 180Hz refresh rate via both DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 connections.
- 0.5MS RESPONSE TIME React faster with 0.5ms MPRT response time, helping reduce motion blur and ghosting in fast-paced games.
- ADAPTIVE-SYNC & HDR READY Reduce screen tearing with Adaptive-Sync support and enjoy enhanced contrast with HDR Ready compatibility.
- MODERN FRAMELESS DESIGN Features a sleek frameless design with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, VESA mount compatibility, and gaming-focused OSD controls.
- DisplayPort 1.4: up to 2560×1440 at 180Hz.
- HDMI: up to 2560×1440 at 144Hz.
Therefore, buyers should connect a gaming PC through DisplayPort if they specifically want 180Hz at QHD. HDMI users should not assume that the advertised maximum refresh rate applies to every input.
AOC’s regional product pages list two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port and a 3.5mm headphone output, with no USB hub, USB-C input or USB-C power delivery. However, the Hong Kong store listing appears to show one HDMI input rather than two. Confirm the port count for the exact market and production batch before ordering.
The relevant connection limits are listed in AOC’s specification sheet.
HDR10 and colour coverage
The Q24G4E supports HDR10 and is rated at 350 cd/m² brightness with a 1000:1 static contrast ratio. HDR10 compatibility can help the monitor accept HDR content, but it does not by itself guarantee a strong HDR image.
AOC does not list local dimming, a DisplayHDR certification or an advanced multi-zone backlight for this model. Based on the published brightness and native contrast figures, the HDR implementation is better understood as entry-level HDR compatibility rather than an OLED- or local-dimming-class HDR experience.
Rank #3
- 24" AOC Gaming G42 series monitor with 1920x1080 Full HD (1080P) Resolution Curved VA panel.Aspect ratio:16:9.Viewing Angle:170.0 degrees
- 180Hz refresh rate (via DP1.4) and rapid 1ms MPRT response time lets you target moving opponents with precision, putting you ahead of the game. Fast-moving action and dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the effects of ghosting with AMD FreeSync Premium technology.
- 1500R curved monitor wraps around your vision for an immersive gaming experience
- The VA display and sleek 3-sided frameless design offers minimal bezel distraction for the ultimate seamless multi-monitor setup
- 119.9% sRGB, 89.8% DCI-P3 wide color gamut brings characters to life and creates stunning imagery with rich details and diverse contrast
AOC claims 122% sRGB and 96% DCI-P3 coverage, and also lists an E<2 colour-accuracy claim. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent colourimeter results. The wide gamut may benefit games, video and general creative work, but unmanaged applications can sometimes appear oversaturated.
Design and ergonomics
The Q24G4E has a flat 16:9 panel and a three-sided frameless front design. It supports 100×100mm VESA mounting and offers tilt adjustment of approximately –5° to 23°. AOC lists approximate dimensions of 540×434.5×177.4mm with the stand and a stand-inclusive weight of about 3.43kg.
The stand is basic: the published specifications do not list height, swivel or pivot adjustment. That may be acceptable on a smaller desk, particularly if the monitor is mounted on an arm, but it is a meaningful limitation for an ergonomic workstation. The monitor also has no built-in speakers.
Low-blue-light and flicker-free features, game modes and display customisation options are included in AOC’s feature list.

The Q24G4E was reported as going on sale in China on May 26, 2024, through JD.com at an introductory price of 999 yuan. That is a China-market launch price, not a universal global MSRP. The launch report is available from ITHome.

Regional listings show why buyers should check local stock rather than convert the launch price directly. AOC Singapore’s official page currently states “Currently not available.” The AOC Hong Kong store listing reviewed showed the monitor at HK$1,199, reduced from HK$1,540, but marked it sold out. Prices on other Hong Kong collection pages have shown different promotional figures over time, so they should not be treated as a guaranteed current price.
The reviewed official sources do not establish a U.S. retail listing for the Q24G4E. The U.S. site lists related models, including the 24G4E and Q24G4RE, but those are not proof that this exact Q24G4E model is sold in the United States. Check local warranty, returns, dead-pixel coverage and service availability before importing one.
Do not confuse the Q24G4E with the 24G4E
The model names are easy to mix up:
- Q24G4E: 23.8-inch, 2560×1440 QHD, 180Hz Fast IPS.
- 24G4E: 23.8-inch, 1920×1080 Full HD, 180Hz IPS.
The “Q” is significant. A retailer or search result showing “24G4E” may lead to a Full HD product page rather than the QHD Q24G4E. Compare the exact model number and resolution before buying. AOC’s pages for the Q24G4E and 24G4E show the distinction.
Who should buy the Q24G4E?
It makes sense for
- Gamers wanting QHD sharpness without moving to a larger 27-inch screen.
- Competitive players who prefer a compact image and high refresh rate.
- Users upgrading from 23.8-inch 1080p who value sharper text and detail.
- Small-desk or multi-monitor setups.
- PC users with DisplayPort and a graphics card capable of high frame rates at 1440p.
It may be a poor fit for
- Users who need height, swivel or pivot adjustment from the included stand.
- Laptop owners seeking USB-C video, charging or docking.
- Console users expecting 1440p at 180Hz over HDMI.
- Buyers prioritising strong HDR contrast.
- People who prefer large text or a more immersive 27-inch display.
- Buyers in regions without reliable official stock or local warranty support.
- Anyone expecting built-in speakers or a USB hub.
What to check before ordering
- Confirm that the listing says Q24G4E, not 24G4E.
- Check that the exact regional version has the expected number of HDMI ports.
- Use DisplayPort for 2560×1440 at 180Hz.
- Verify that your GPU and cable support the desired resolution and refresh rate.
- Decide whether approximately 123 PPI will require operating-system or application scaling.
- Confirm local price, stock, warranty, returns and dead-pixel policy.
- Do not buy it primarily for premium HDR or USB-C functionality; it does not list the hardware for those use cases.
Verdict
The AOC Q24G4E stands out for combining QHD resolution, 180Hz refresh and a Fast IPS panel in a compact 23.8-inch format. Its high pixel density is attractive for sharp desktop content and competitive gaming, while Adaptive-Sync and the manufacturer-rated response figures give it a credible high-refresh feature set.
Recommended Free Tools
Its limitations are equally clear: the stand is tilt-only, there is no USB-C, USB hub or speaker system, HDR10 is unlikely to deliver premium contrast, and full 180Hz requires DisplayPort. Availability is also market-dependent. For a buyer who specifically wants compact QHD and can source the correct regional model, it is an interesting budget-to-midrange option; for everyone else, a 27-inch QHD display, a Full HD 24G4E or a locally available alternative may be more practical.
