For Apex Legends Season 30: Marked, the clearest current meta signal is that energy weapons have gained ground, while the R-99, Alternator, RE-45, and Hemlok lost usage and win rate after targeted nerfs. That is not enough evidence to name a defensible, measured winner among every gun. The ranking below therefore orders the best-supported current weapon signals—not a fabricated all-gun leaderboard—and explains how to choose for your mode, input, attachments, and loadout.
Current frame: Season 30, Marked. The season launched August 4, 2026; Split 2 began September 15 after patch notes dated September 14. Weapon balance can change with a split or patch, so treat this as a snapshot of the Marked-season evidence, not a permanent tier list.

Season 30 weapon ranking: what the evidence supports
Respawn’s Marked retrospective reports usage and win-rate changes from Ranked and Unranked Trios gameplay between August 13 and 20, 2026. Its charts are image-based in the accessible publication, so exact values are not available here. The developer account supports broad direction, but not a precise rank for each gun.
| Rank | Weapon group | Why it ranks here | How to read the placement |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Energy weapons | Respawn says many energy weapons improved their position in the meta, and energy-ammo changes were part of the Season 30 shake-up. | Strongest broad positive signal in the available current-season evidence; it does not establish which energy gun is best. |
| 2 | Triple Take, Bocek Compound Bow, and Charge Rifle | Respawn announced Marked Split 2 buffs intended to move these weapons closer to their peers. | A targeted improvement signal, not proof that any one now outperforms the energy class or other guns. Exact change values are not confirmed here. |
| 3 | Other weapons without a verified current signal | The available official evidence does not provide readable, comparable current measurements for every weapon. | Unranked rather than presumed weak or strong. Their value depends on practical fit and current in-game stats. |
| 4 | R-99, Alternator, RE-45, and Hemlok | Respawn says season-start targeted nerfs were followed by declines in both usage and win rates. | They lost ground relative to their prior position; the evidence does not show they are unusable or specify a universal placement. |
This is an editorial ordering of the strength and direction of the available meta signals. Respawn does not publish a simple official weapon ranking from those signals, and its results should not be read as a universal verdict for every skill level, mode, or input method.

What changed in the Marked weapon meta
Four previously prominent weapons lost ground
Respawn reports that the R-99, Alternator, RE-45, and Hemlok saw declines in both usage and win rates after Season 30’s targeted season-start nerfs. That supports moving them down from an assumed top position, but not writing them off: the reported direction does not reveal each gun’s absolute strength or the size of its decline.
Energy weapons improved as a group
Respawn identifies energy weapons among the season’s biggest movers, with many improving their position. The energy-ammo system also changed, so an energy gun’s practical value includes ammunition availability and inventory cost—not damage figures in isolation. The available evidence does not identify a top energy weapon or quantify the effect for each one.

Three weapons received Split 2 buffs
The Triple Take, Bocek Compound Bow, and Charge Rifle were named for Marked Split 2 buffs intended to bring them closer to their weapon-class peers. Without confirmed change values or later comparable performance data, it is too early to turn that announcement into a claim that one has become a top pick.
How to pick the best weapon for your match
“Best” depends on the job a gun needs to do. Respawn says its balance reviews consider current weapon win rate, usage rate, and community sentiment, sometimes alongside historical data. It also notes that changes elsewhere—including other weapon and Legend metas—can shift a gun’s performance even when that weapon receives no direct adjustment. For your own loadout, use the following checks rather than treating popularity as power.

- STRATEGIC AND ENGAGING: Whether you’re playing with friends or family, Apex Legends: The Board Game offers deep tactical gameplay that will challenge your decision-making and keep you on your toes throughout every match.
- Match the engagement range. Decide whether you need a close-range entry and finisher, sustained mid-range damage, or long-range pressure. A gun that excels at one job may leave a gap at another.
- Account for execution. Recoil, handling, tracking demands, and time to deal damage affect how reliably you can land shots. A theoretically strong option is a poor fit if you cannot use it consistently.
- Choose for mode and input. Battle royale, Mixtape, and Wildcard can reward different ranges and fight lengths. Controller and mouse-and-keyboard preferences can also change how manageable recoil, tracking, and distance feel.
- Judge the pickup you actually have. Compare a weapon with few or no attachments against one equipped for the fight. Season 30’s Playground tab and in-game weapon or attachment UI show weapon stats and how available attachments affect them.
- Weigh attachment tradeoffs. Corrupted Attachments introduce drawbacks as well as benefits, and a gun can equip only one at a time. Check the resulting weapon rather than assuming an attachment is an unconditional upgrade.
- Make the pair work. Give each slot a role—such as a sustained primary and a close-range finisher, or a damage weapon and a poke option. Avoid pairing guns that compete for the same range or create an impractical ammunition burden.
Why this is a ranked guide, not an official tier list
Weapon usage and win rates are useful signals, but a ranking needs comparable figures across the weapons being ranked. The official Marked retrospective provides directional findings, while its chart values are not readable in the accessible output. The evidence here does not establish a complete current ordering across weapons, modes, skill levels, and input methods.
A Season 29 community list illustrates why player lists can differ: its author favored short-range guns for a run-and-gun style, accounted for controller input, and considered recoil, time-to-kill, charge-up time, and range. Those are useful comparison criteria, not current Season 30 recommendations; the list predates Marked’s changes.

Reassess after balance updates, particularly at a new split: usage and win rates can move when other weapons or Legends change, too.
