Error 30005 usually means Easy Anti-Cheat failed to launch. On Windows, begin by repairing Apex Legends through the launcher you use, then repair Easy Anti-Cheat and restart your PC. EA also recommends deleting a specific Easy Anti-Cheat driver file; the instructions below explain how to do that without touching unrelated Windows files.
What Apex Legends Error 30005 means
EA describes Error 30005 as an Easy Anti-Cheat launch failure. Apex is therefore failing before or while its anti-cheat service starts; it is not normally an in-game, account, or network error. The message may include a service or file detail—for example, “CreateService failed with 1072”—but that suffix is a clue, not proof of one particular cause. See EA’s Apex Legends error-code guidance.
The file and service steps here apply to the Windows PC version. They are not instructions for PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.
Start with the low-risk checks
- Exit Apex Legends and close Steam or the EA app.
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc. If Apex, Steam, EA, or Easy Anti-Cheat processes remain after closing the apps, end those leftover processes.
- Check that the launcher has finished any Apex update. A pending update can interfere with launch; EA notes that Steam may show an update progress bar that must finish before you play.
- Restart Windows, then launch Apex from the same official launcher you normally use.
If the error returns, repair the game files before changing Windows security settings or reinstalling the game.

Repair Apex Legends through your launcher
EA app
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Select Apex Legends, open its menu (usually the three-dot button), and choose Repair. Labels can vary as the app changes.
- Let the scan and any downloads finish, then restart Windows and try Apex again.
Repair checks for damaged or missing game files and replaces them as needed. Do not interrupt the process.
Steam
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Apex Legends and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files, then Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the verification and any downloads to finish, restart Windows, and launch Apex.
Steam may report that files were reacquired or replaced. That can be part of restoring files and does not by itself mean the installation has a serious problem. EA lists repairing files through Steam or the EA app among its Apex error remedies: Troubleshoot Apex Legends error codes.

Repair the Easy Anti-Cheat service
Apex’s installation normally includes an Easy Anti-Cheat setup utility, though its filename and location can vary between installations. Look in the Apex installation folder for a utility with a name such as EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe or EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe.
- Right-click the setup utility and choose Run as administrator.
- If a game selector appears, select Apex Legends.
- Choose Repair Service, if that option is available.
- Restart Windows and launch Apex from Steam or the EA app.
EA’s Easy Anti-Cheat troubleshooting guide identifies Repair Service as a remedy for launch errors such as 30005. If the utility or repair option is missing, do not download a replacement from an unofficial site; use your launcher’s file-repair option to restore the bundled files.

Try EA’s Easy Anti-Cheat .sys-file fix
EA’s Apex error guidance gives a more targeted step: delete the Easy Anti-Cheat .sys file in the specified folder, then restart the PC. Follow the path and limit the deletion carefully:
- Open File Explorer and navigate to
C:Program Files (x86)EasyAntiCheat. - Delete only the
.sysfile in that Easy Anti-Cheat folder. Do not delete other files there or any.sysfile elsewhere in Windows. - Restart the PC before opening Steam, the EA app, or Apex, then launch the game normally.
This instruction comes directly from EA’s Apex error-code page. The path is for Windows and may not exist on every installation. If the folder or file is absent, skip deletion and use the launcher repair or EAC service repair instead.

If Windows will not delete the file
- File in use: Restart Windows and try again before opening the launcher or game.
- Access denied: Check that your Windows account has administrator rights. Do not start by taking ownership of protected folders.
- File or folder missing: Do not create a file manually. Repair Apex through Steam or the EA app, then retry the EAC repair if needed.
Check for a security-software block
Security software is a possible source of interference, not the established cause of every 30005 error. EA community troubleshooting discussions mention antivirus or similar software as a possible blocker, but those reports are anecdotal: EA Forums troubleshooting discussion.
- Install pending Windows updates and restart.
- Review your antivirus quarantine or protection history for legitimate Apex, launcher, or Easy Anti-Cheat files.
- If your security product has incorrectly quarantined a verified game file, restore it and add a narrowly scoped exception for the legitimate installation files only.
- Do not permanently disable antivirus, Windows Defender, the firewall, or Windows kernel protections to launch the game.
If Error 30005 persists
Check whether the problem is broader than Apex
Try another game that uses Easy Anti-Cheat, if one is available. If several EAC games fail, repeatedly repairing or reinstalling Apex is unlikely to address a Windows service or security conflict. Note whether the failure began after a Windows, driver, antivirus, or game update, and whether it affects other Windows accounts; those details can help narrow the issue when contacting support.

Reinstall only after targeted repairs
If Apex or its EAC files remain missing or corrupted after launcher verification and service repair, reinstalling the anti-cheat component through the official game files—or reinstalling Apex as a last local repair—may be reasonable. A full game reinstall takes time and may not help if the underlying problem is a service conflict or security block. Escalate a recurring or cross-game failure
If the error survives file repair, EAC repair, a restart, and a security-history check—or affects multiple EAC games—contact EA support with the complete error text, including any service suffix, your launcher, and the steps already tried. Avoid registry edits, registry cleaners, third-party “EAC repair” downloads, and unrelated command-line resets: they are not part of EA’s specific Apex 30005 instructions and can add risk without targeting the failed component.
