Play Sparrow as a mobile Recon Legend: use Double Jump to find better routes and angles, place Tracker Darts to check enemy paths before your squad commits, and fire Stinger Bolt to pressure opponents out of cover or disrupt a push. Share what you spot, then coordinate your team’s follow-up while enemies react.
What is Sparrow’s role?
Sparrow combines vertical mobility, scouting and area control. He can help a squad gather information and shape where a fight happens without needing to lead every engagement head-on. EA introduced him in Prodigy (Season 25); the current EA Legends guide lists Axle as the newest Legend, so Sparrow is not the newest Legend in that roster context.
How to use Double Jump
Sparrow can jump again while airborne. While climbing, press jump to launch upward and gain height quickly. These movement options can open routes to rooftops, ledges and vantage points; EA’s guide specifically recommends higher routes and wall jumps. His passive also lets him carry additional arrows and explosive arrows for the Bocek.
Before a fight, look for a ledge, roof or alternate route that could give you a useful angle or a way to reposition. Use the extra height to scout or move with your squad, rather than staying in an exposed spot where your route is easy to predict. Jump and other controls are configurable, so use your chosen binding.

Where to place Tracker Darts
Tracker Dart is a trap fired from Sparrow’s gauntlet. It reveals enemies who walk within its line of sight. Darts can be placed on most surfaces, and the reveal appears as a trail visible through walls. When an enemy is more than 40 meters away, a distance marker appears above them. Darts can also activate Survey Beacons remotely.
Use a dart to watch a route enemies may cross, check whether a building is occupied or cover a flank while your squad monitors the result. Wait for the information before entering a room or crossing a choke point. If no one appears, that does not prove the surrounding area is clear: enemies may avoid the watched route.

There is a visibility tradeoff. A dart can reveal your presence if an opponent spots it; EA Help cautions that an enemy who sees an arrow knows Sparrow is nearby. Place traps where their information is worth the risk of alerting opponents.
When to use Stinger Bolt
Stinger Bolt launches a large arrow that anchors where it lands, charges, then damages and slows enemies in range. It can control an area, flush opponents from cover or make a dangerous push harder. Enemies can get behind cover, leave the zone or shoot the arrow to respond.

Fire it where the affected area constrains the enemy’s cover or escape route. While opponents react, coordinate a push, grenade or reposition with your squad. The pulses slow all players, including Sparrow, so do not assume you can move through them without being affected.
Choosing Sparrow’s upgrades
EA’s Prodigy patch notes and Sparrow introduction list these upgrade choices. They describe what each option does, but do not establish a universal best pick or a current competitive ranking.

- Level 2 — Extra Traps: Adds one Tactical charge and two traps in the world. Choose it when more route coverage or additional attempts to gather information fit the team’s plan.
- Level 2 — Hunt Target: Gives Sparrow a speed boost when running toward a marked enemy. It suits a plan to pursue a target after gaining information.
- Level 3 — Alternate Mode: Changes the ultimate to three charges that fire fewer pulses in a smaller radius. This trades the standard larger pattern for multiple smaller placements.
- Level 3 — Life Siphon: Restores Sparrow’s health and shields when enemies are damaged by his ultimate. The recovery depends on damaging enemies; it is not guaranteed just for using the ability.
Choose according to what your squad needs next: broader scouting coverage, help pursuing a marked opponent, more compact ultimate placements or recovery when Stinger Bolt damages enemies.
A practical Sparrow sequence
- Find a route: Use Double Jump or a wall launch to reach a useful angle or move with your squad.
- Check the approach: Place a Tracker Dart where it can watch a likely enemy path, flank or building entrance.
- Share the reveal: Tell your squad what the dart shows and adjust if opponents avoid the watched route.
- Shape the fight: Use Stinger Bolt to pressure enemies out of cover or disrupt their push, then coordinate the follow-up.
What current ability figures are established?
The cited EA pages describe Sparrow’s abilities and launch upgrades, but do not establish current cooldowns, damage values or radii, or subsequent balance changes. Check current patch notes and in-game ability descriptions for those details rather than relying on launch-era numbers. Exact key and button bindings vary because controls are configurable.
