What changed in Season 23?
EA’s launch update focused on five areas: a mode inspired by Apex Legends’ 2019 launch, changes to Lifeline, new Support class perks, temporary Rift Relics, and more visible Ranked match information. The details below describe EA’s Season 23 announcement, not necessarily the current live game.

How did Launch Royale differ from standard Battle Royale?
Launch Royale was a limited-time mode designed to evoke the original Apex Legends experience. EA described its listed changes as highlights rather than a complete restoration of every historical detail, and said some modern quality-of-life improvements remained.

EA announced Launch Royale as an event mode in November 2024. That announcement does not establish that it remains playable now.

What changed in Lifeline’s kit?
Season 23 gave Lifeline a more active support-and-combat role. Her new abilities centered on mobility, a deployable D.O.C. drone, and a shield system that helped nearby players use consumables faster.
Core abilities
- Combat Glide: Holding jump while airborne lets Lifeline glide briefly.
- D.O.C. healing drone: The tactical heals nearby allies. After deployment, Lifeline can assign D.O.C. to follow an ally.
- D.O.C. revives: D.O.C. can revive a teammate, leaving Lifeline free to defend rather than perform the revive herself.
- D.O.C. Halo: Lifeline’s ultimate deploys D.O.C. to activate the Halo Shield System. Players inside use health and shield consumables faster.
Upgrades listed in EA’s Season 23 announcement
- Battpack: Adds one battery per stack and displays battery counts in Death Boxes.
- Extended Flight: Gives D.O.C. 1.5 additional seconds before it runs out of fuel.
- Enhanced Radio: Increases D.O.C. assignment range by 50%.
- Tactical Cooldown+: Reduces tactical cooldown by 10 seconds.
Those upgrade values are Season 23 patch specifications from EA’s 2024 update, not confirmation of Lifeline’s current kit.

What Support class perks were added?
EA announced two Support perks aimed at healing and reviving. The revive timing and other figures here are the specifications in the Season 23 update.
Heal Expert
Support Legends could move at full walk speed while healing, and small healing items restored twice as much health.

Revive Expert
- Revives were 25% faster, with EA specifying a 4.5-second revive time.
- A successfully revived ally received health regeneration. The Support Legend also received regeneration if revived.
- Incoming damage could cancel the ally’s regeneration.
- Banner crafting and allied Death Boxes could provide Mobile Respawn Beacons. Support Legends could see those beacons in Death Boxes.
EA also said banner crafting was no longer an exclusive Support class perk.
What were Rift Relics?
Rift Relics were temporary rifts that could appear randomly across multiple rounds. EA said they provided weapons and a Survival Slot Boost Kit, and warned that the Ring affected relic stability.
The announcement named the EPG-1 launcher, which had splash damage and rocket-jumping capabilities, and exotic Hop-Ups among the relic content. The announcement describes Season 23’s feature; it does not confirm present-day availability.

What did the Ranked display show?
EA announced a display that updated as players loaded into a match and showed that match’s rank distribution. EA’s stated aim was to give players more information as they entered a match. The announcement does not establish that the display improved matchmaking fairness or match quality.

What was the Raptor’s Claw?
Raptor’s Claw was a universal melee cosmetic, not a physical item. EA said it was available through the in-game Void Mercenary Store from November 5, 2024, through January 7, 2025, and would then move to the Mythic Shop. That was the availability schedule announced in 2024.
