The Aphelion is a legendary battle rifle in ARC Raiders that fires two-round bursts using Energy Clips. Its blueprint’s documented location is Stella Montis—not the Matriarch, as older guides may say. Embark has improved the rifle’s reload, firing cadence, recoil and aiming stability, but those changes alone do not establish that it is better than another weapon.
What kind of weapon is the Aphelion?
The ARC Raiders Wiki describes the Aphelion as an experimental legendary Battle Rifle. Its entry says it fires two-round bursts and uses Energy Clips. The “experimental” label is the game’s designation; it does not establish any further technical details about the weapon.
The wiki lists a 10-round magazine, 25 base damage, strong ARC armor penetration, a 3.5-second reload and no upgrade path. These are community-maintained figures, not a current official stat sheet, so check the weapon’s details in your game before relying on them. ARC Raiders Wiki: Aphelion
Where does the Aphelion blueprint drop?
Embark’s December 16, 2025 Cold Snap patch notes say the blueprint drop moved from the Matriarch to Stella Montis. The community wiki also lists Stella Montis as its location. What has Embark changed about its handling?
Embark’s February 24, 2026 Patch Notes 1.17.0 explain the weapon’s intended role: “It was intended to be a more PVP focused legendary weapon, but it couldn’t quite keep up with the pacing of many of our other PVP weapons.” In that update, the studio made three documented changes:

- Time between shots decreased from 0.9 seconds to 0.7 seconds.
- Vertical recoil decreased by approximately 50%.
In Live Update 1.45.0 on September 8, 2026, Embark added: “Reduced weapon sway for Aphelion to improve aiming stability.” This is the latest Aphelion-specific official adjustment found in the sources for this guide. Together, the notes document efforts to make the rifle more responsive and stable; they do not show that it is top-tier or superior to a particular alternative. Embark’s stated design intention was a more PvP-focused legendary weapon, and the official notes show several handling improvements. That is evidence of intended role and balance changes—not a current performance ranking. The community wiki reports strong ARC armor penetration, but that item detail does not demonstrate how the Aphelion performs against ARC compared with other weapons.

No controlled comparison or independent performance statistic in the available sources establishes that the Aphelion is best for PvP, PvE or either role. To judge it for your own loadout, consider the target you expect to face, its two-round burst and reported ammunition type, aiming stability, time between shots, reload downtime, and the cost and effort of acquiring and crafting it. Treat community-listed stats and recipe details as provisional until checked in-game.
