What’s notable about the Final Fantasy IV remake?
Apple identified FINAL FANTASY IV (3D REMAKE)+ as a Square Enix game and announced it for December 9, 2024. Apple described updated graphics, improved gameplay, and added voice acting for event scenes. Those are the company’s description of the release, not an independent assessment of how the remake plays or performs.

Apple also noted the original Final Fantasy IV was the series’ first mainline entry to introduce the Active Time Battle system. The slate included two related releases alongside the remake: FF IV: THE AFTER YEARS+ and FINAL FANTASY+. It also listed Trials of Mana+, another RPG, for January 9.
How the slate differs by genre and platform
Apple’s descriptions point to a varied slate rather than a single genre focus. Its examples include skateboarding in Skate City: New York, RPGs among the Final Fantasy games and Trials of Mana+, and base-building and tower defense in Gears & Goo.

Gears & Goo is the Vision Pro-specific game
Apple described Gears & Goo, from Resolution Games, as a base-building and tower-defense game made for Apple Vision Pro, using spatial-computing mechanics. Apple said its Arcade catalog was available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro; it singled out Gears & Goo for Vision Pro. The announcement does not say that the other games require a headset.

What Apple said about the Arcade catalog
In its November 13, 2024 announcement, Apple described the service as having “all 250+ games” free of ads and in-app purchases. That is Apple’s dated catalog statement, not a current count. The announcement does not establish present-day subscription pricing, regional terms, or whether each announced title is still available.
