For a new ARC Raiders player, the best beginner weapon is the one you can use confidently and afford to lose. As of October 2026, the accessible choices identified in recent guides are Ferro, Kettle, Stitcher, Il Toro, and Anvil. There is no official beginner ranking or consistent head-to-head test establishing a universal winner, so the order below is an editorial judgment based on replaceability, handling demands, range, and likely use against ARC machines or rival Raiders.
How to read this ranking
Cheap weapons are easier to replace after a failed raid, but low acquisition cost alone does not make a weapon easy to use. Fire mode, reload demands, range, and the target you expect to face all matter. Weapon class and ammunition are useful clues to a weapon’s behavior; a community-maintained reference says ammo type generally affects penetration against ARC armor, while upgrades and mods can change performance. These details can be patch-sensitive, so check the current game before building a loadout around them: ARC Raiders Wiki weapon reference.

The list ranks the five budget candidates named by a 2026 beginner guide, with Ferro placed first because the available weapon-specific information supports a clear role and trade-off. For the remaining weapons, the evidence supports considering them as budget options, not claiming precise head-to-head superiority.

Beginner weapons ranked
-
Ferro — best for deliberate shots and ARC armor
Ferro is a common-quality rifle that PC Gamer describes as inexpensive to craft and useful against ARC enemies because of its armor penetration. It suits a beginner willing to take measured shots at range or focus on armored targets. Its handling makes it less forgiving in a scramble: it is relatively heavy early on and must be reloaded after every shot. Those costs make it a strong specialist pick, not a universal choice for close-range fights. PC Gamer’s guide was published November 21, 2025; crafting costs and balance may have changed since then: PC Gamer’s early-game weapon guide.
-
Kettle — a light-ammo option for single-shot control
A third-party game database lists Kettle as a light-ammo assault rifle with single-shot fire. That profile offers a different handling and ammunition option from Ferro, but single-shot fire still asks you to place shots deliberately. The available information does not establish that Kettle is stronger than the other budget choices in any particular matchup. Treat it as a candidate to try if its feel and ammunition suit your raid plan, rather than as a proven top-tier starter. Kettle item database entry.
-
Stitcher — a budget candidate without a proven matchup edge
A recent beginner budget guide includes Stitcher among accessible options. The available evidence does not provide comparable handling, range, armor performance, or replacement-cost figures for it, so there is no reliable basis to rank it above Ferro or Kettle on performance. Its practical beginner advantage is that it belongs to the guide’s replaceable budget pool; inspect its current in-game behavior before taking it into a fight where you need a particular range or target role.

Il Toro — consider it for your preferred engagement style
The same 2026 budget guide names Il Toro as an accessible choice, but the source set does not provide a controlled comparison or enough weapon-specific detail to establish where it excels. Choose it based on how its current in-game handling fits the distance and fights you expect, not on an unsupported claim that it is the best close-range or Raider-fighting option.

Anvil — another replaceable option, not a proven all-rounder
Anvil also appears in the guide’s budget recommendations. The available material does not establish its relative cost, handling burden, or performance against ARC armor and Raiders compared with the other four. It is reasonable to evaluate it as a low-commitment option, but the ranking cannot responsibly assign it a specific matchup advantage without comparable evidence.

Choose by the fight you expect
- For deliberate shots or ARC armor: Start with Ferro if you can manage its weight and one-shot reload cycle.
- For single-shot control with light ammo: Try Kettle, while remembering that its database listing does not prove a universal advantage.
- For a budget weapon to learn with: Stitcher, Il Toro, and Anvil are named accessible candidates, but their relative merits are not established by the available comparisons.
- For close-range or Raider encounters: Do not assume Ferro is the safest beginner pick; its documented reload burden can be a liability when a fight becomes immediate.
What this ranking can—and cannot—tell you
The five weapons above are budget candidates, not an official starter list. A 2026 guide recommends them as accessible options, while the weapon-specific detail available here is strongest for Ferro and Kettle. No source provides a same-patch, same-condition test of all five, and no dependable DPS, win-rate, or time-to-kill comparison is established. Use the order as a starting point for choosing by role and comfort, then verify current crafting costs, ammunition, upgrades, and weapon behavior in your game version.
