The Bombardier is a long-range ARC artillery unit that uses mortar fire to force Raiders out of cover. Stay mobile, use terrain or buildings to break its attack lines, and aim for the yellow rear canister or leg-joint kneecaps. Spotters can help it target your position, so deal with them when practical—but they can return after being destroyed.
How the Bombardier attacks
The Bombardier’s role is artillery support, not a conventional close-range chase. It pressures Raider positions with heavy mortar fire, particularly dangerous when you are exposed or remain in one place. Community references say it is often accompanied by a pair of Spotters, which can mark Raiders and help the Bombardier target them. These mechanics and tactics are community-reported and may change between game updates.

Use cover without staying predictable
Use buildings, walls, and terrain to obstruct incoming fire and break line of sight. Keep moving between cover rather than settling into one position; an exposed approach can be especially risky while the Bombardier and its Spotters are active. These are guide recommendations, not measured guarantees of safety.

Time your attack after the artillery shot
The ARC Raiders Wiki recommends attacking after the Bombardier fires, when it describes the enemy as vulnerable. Use that opening to target a weak point, then return to cover before the next attack. The source does not quantify the length of this window.

Bombardier weak points: rear canister or leg joints?
Community references identify two useful targets: the yellow cylinder or canister on the rear, and the yellow kneecaps at the leg joints. They describe different effects, but provide no comparative damage figures or measured time-to-kill.
| Target | Reported effect | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow rear cylinder/canister | The wiki says destroying the cylinder can disable the Bombardier quickly; a separate database says the rear canister deals direct damage to its core. | You want to focus on disabling the machine. |
| Yellow leg-joint kneecaps | The wiki says hits impair mobility and expose inner sections. | You want to reduce its movement and create access to less-armored areas. |
Both descriptions come from community-maintained references, not official Embark documentation. Treat the listed weak points and effects as patch-sensitive.

How to handle the Spotters
Spotters can mark Raiders for targeting and support the Bombardier’s pressure. The wiki recommends eliminating them to disrupt that support, but also says Spotters respawn after being destroyed. Their removal is therefore a temporary advantage, not a permanent way to neutralize the threat.
If a Spotter has marked you, one guide recommends breaking line of sight with a building or wall. Whether you prioritize a Spotter or the Bombardier depends on your immediate exposure: take cover first if you are under fire, then use a safe opportunity to remove the support or attack a weak point.

Possible Bombardier drops and Refiner progression
Community drop lists do not fully match, so the following are possible drops, not guaranteed rewards. The ARC Raiders Wiki lists Bombardier Cell, ARC Powercell, ARC Alloy, Mechanical Components, Advanced ARC Powercell, ARC Flex Rubber, ARC Motion Core, ARC Performance Steel, Heavy Gun Parts, and Launcher Ammo. A separate database records Bombardier Cell, ARC Performance Steel, Advanced ARC Powercell, Medium Gun Parts, Launcher Ammo, ARC Alloy, Mechanical Components, and ARC Powercell.
The wiki identifies the Bombardier Cell as an item used to upgrade the Refiner. Neither source establishes drop odds or guaranteed quantities.

Community-reported XP values
A community database reports 500 XP for destroying a Bombardier and 300 loot XP. The wiki also lists 500 destroy XP and separate 300 XP values for scavenging the core, shell, or leg. These are community-sourced values; check the current game build rather than assuming they remain accurate.

A separate community database says the Bombardier appears on four maps and explicitly names Dam Battlegrounds, Spaceport, Blue Gate, and Buried City. That conflicts with the wiki’s five-map list, which also includes Riven Tides. Check the current in-game map and conditions instead of treating either list as a definitive count.
How current are these details?
The mechanics, item lists, XP values, and spawn reports here come from community-maintained sources rather than official Embark documentation.
