When did Cold Snap arrive in ARC Raiders?
Nexon announced the original Cold Snap update, December Update 1.7.0, for December 16, 2025. Its defining feature was a limited-time snowy map condition. Embark later brought Cold Snap back to the outdoor-map rotation as part of February Update 1.15.0, announced February 10, 2026. These are separate update moments, not one continuous event. What did the original Cold Snap map condition change?
Snowfall reduced visibility, making it harder to spot threats and fight at range. Spending too long outdoors exposed Raiders to frostbite damage, creating a trade-off between staying in the elements and seeking shelter. The condition also increased the chance of finding light-themed materials such as candles and light bulbs; Candleberries were useful for the concurrent seasonal event. In February 2026, Embark said Cold Snap was back in the outdoor-map rotation. Its notes again described frostbite damage and the choice to seek shelter or brave the tundra for increased loot value. Candleberries could still be collected, but they were no longer tied to an event; players could also collect and throw snowballs. Is Cold Snap active now?
The official material reviewed confirms the February 2026 return but does not establish whether Cold Snap is active on October 7, 2026. Embark’s official news page listed Frozen Trail as arriving October 8, 2026, so it was forthcoming on the date of this article—not an already released update. Not necessarily. Embark’s February notes acknowledge that earlier changes sometimes did not make it into patch notes and say the studio is working to make notes complete and accurate. The Steam listing identifies the original announcement as “COLD SNAP – December Update 1.7.0 Patch Notes,” but its body was not accessible in the reviewed source. The specific original-update details above therefore come from Nexon’s official December announcement; published notes should not be treated as proof that every live change is listed.
