The ARC Raiders community unlock event, Breaking New Ground, asked eligible players to donate five kinds of Basic Materials to restore tunnels and unlock the Stella Montis map. Donations also earned Merits, but that personal reward was capped. After the shared goal was completed, a second phase, Staking Our Claim, awarded Merits through XP earned on Topside maps. Its announced deadline was December 8, 2025, so the event is no longer available as announced.
What was the ARC Raiders community unlock event?
Breaking New Ground was a community resource-donation event announced by Embark Studios on November 12, 2025, and scheduled to begin November 13. Phase I: Donate materials
Players donated five Basic Materials: Metal Parts, Fabric, Chemicals, Rubber Parts, and Plastic Parts. Donations advanced the shared tunnel-restoration goal and earned Merits for personal progression. The amount of donation-earned Merits was capped; Embark did not publish the cap amount. Donations beyond that personal cap still helped the community reach the shared objective.

Phase II: Earn Merits through XP
Once tunnel restoration was complete, Stella Montis unlocked and Staking Our Claim began. In this follow-up phase, players earned Merits based on XP gained while visiting any Topside map. The track offered personal rewards and challenges. Embark’s Phase II update

The donations served two purposes: they moved the community toward the map unlock and, up to the stated cap, earned individual Merits. Embark did not state the cap amount in its announcement.
How quickly was Stella Montis unlocked?
In an update posted November 19, 2025, Embark said the shared unlock objective was completed in one day. The studio also reported more than 25 million visits to Stella Montis and these event figures: one Raider donated 24,375 resources; the Shredder knocked down 2,270,576 Raiders; the Deadline downed 37,218; players eliminated 26,923 Matriarchs; and a Volcanic Rock downed 117 Raiders. No—not as announced. The shared unlock phase was completed, and Embark set December 8, 2025, as the end date for Staking Our Claim. That published deadline has passed.
