Where to use the Dam Testing Annex Key
The key is used at the Testing Annex, a separate building in the southern or southeastern part of Dam Battlegrounds. Do not confuse it with the Dam Control Tower, Water Treatment Control, or Controlled Access Zone; those are different locations.

Once you reach the annex, enter through the main entrance and turn right. Move through the flooded section and continue toward the locked-door area. The second locked door is farther along the corridor on the left. The key is used by interacting with either of the locked doors in the building.

There are two doors, but one key is single-use
The Testing Annex has two separate locked doors:
- One door is on the building’s south side.
- The other door is on the building’s east side.
The key is consumed as soon as you use it. One Dam Testing Annex Key opens only one door, so you need two keys to open both rooms during one raid. The commonly repeated claim that a single key opens both doors is incorrect.
There is no separate menu option, command, or console syntax involved. This is an in-world interaction: reach a locked door, use the key, and enter the room.
What loot is behind the doors?
The rooms contain randomized loot rather than a guaranteed named reward. Current item data associates the key area with containers including:
- Lockers
- Drawers
- Filing cabinets
Guide coverage also describes loose electronics and mechanical items, consoles, tables, and computer towers. The exact contents can vary between raids, so the key does not guarantee a particular blueprint, weapon, or other named item.
The first or left-side room
The first room encountered on the left is generally reported to have the better overall loot potential. It combines several lockers with breachable consoles, drawers, and loose electronics or mechanical loot. This is an RNG-based comparison, not a guaranteed ranking: a particular raid may produce better rewards in the other room.
The other room
The second room focuses more on loose loot around tables, consoles, computer towers, and drawers. A Field Depot crate can appear there, but it is not guaranteed. Treat it as a possible bonus rather than a promised reward.

For that reason, do not keep the key solely because a guide or video claims it guarantees a Field Depot, blueprint, or named weapon. The available item data identifies loot-container types, while the reported contents remain randomized.

How to get the Dam Testing Annex Key
Current item data lists two acquisition routes:
- Scavenging: Search loot throughout raids. The key does not have a guaranteed fixed spawn point on Dam Battlegrounds, so its searchable location can vary between raids.
- A Lay Of The Land: The quest is also listed as a source of the key.
Because the key is rare and has a stack size of one, decide before entering the annex which room matters more to your run. If you find a second key, you can use both to access both doors.

- Locate the Testing Annex in the southern or southeastern area of Dam Battlegrounds.
- Enter through the main entrance and turn right.
- Cross the flooded section and follow the corridor to the locked doors.
- Use the key on the room you want most; remember that it will be consumed.
- If you want both rooms, bring two Dam Testing Annex Keys.
- Search the lockers, drawers, filing cabinets, consoles, and loose loot, then extract safely if the rewards justify the risk.
The key is most useful when you already have a clear extraction plan. Since neither room guarantees a specific high-value item, opening the annex is a loot opportunity rather than a guaranteed reward run.
