ARC Raiders does not guarantee duo-only raids. Embark’s November 12, 2025 announcement introduced Duo prioritized matchmaking: the system first prioritizes separating solo players from squads, then favors matching duos with duos and trios with trios. Players can still encounter other squad sizes. A later July 2026 update added separate playstyle tracking for Solo, Duo, and Trio rounds.
How ARC Raiders duo matchmaking works
Embark said it had silently tested and enabled Duo prioritized matchmaking earlier in the week before its November 12, 2025 announcement. The priority order is to separate solo players from squads, then pair duos preferentially with other duos and trios with other trios. The announcement describes a preference, not a strict queue restriction: a duo is not guaranteed to face only other duos. Embark’s announcement explicitly cautions that players may encounter different squad compositions.
Is duo matchmaking guaranteed?
No. Embark described the system as not “100% guaranteed.” It prioritizes squad-size matching, but other compositions can still appear in a raid. The announcement and later patch notes publish no queue-time figures, match-composition rates, or measured player outcomes, so there is no official numerical basis for estimating how often duos will meet duos or whether the change makes matches easier or fairer.
What changed after the November 2025 update?
The November announcement was the initial duo-prioritization update, not the latest matchmaking change as of July 2026. In its July 7, 2026 Live Update 1.36.0 notes, Embark said it tracks playstyle separately for Solo, Duo, and Trio rounds. Previously, a player’s solo playstyle could affect the kind of trio matchmaking they received; the update removed that overlap. This is a separate refinement to how playstyle is tracked, alongside the squad-size priorities announced in 2025.
