The footage illustrates a real complaint, but it does not by itself establish a general hit-registration defect, cheating, or a specific networking cause. Embark has acknowledged one narrowly defined registration issue: shots taken while riding an ARC may not register correctly.
What Embark has officially confirmed
A scoped issue with shots fired while riding ARC
In its September 2026 Update 1.47.0 notes, Embark listed: “Shots taken while riding ARC may not register correctly.” That is a specific condition, not an admission that ordinary player-versus-player shots routinely fail to register.
A separate door synchronization fix
The same notes say Embark fixed an issue where a door could appear open to one player while actually being closed. This confirms a particular mismatch in game state, but it does not show that player clips of apparent hits through cover have the same cause.
What the player clips do—and do not—show
One Reddit post is titled “What is with the god awful hit registration in this game?” and describes being hit “behind walls.” Another, “Hit boxes have been broken for awhile,” draws competing explanations from commenters, including desync and latency. These discussions show that players are reporting apparent shots not registering and damage behind walls; they do not independently verify a defect or identify its cause.

A clip can show what appears on screen, but not necessarily establish what happened on the server. To assess a particular example, separate the visible details from the interpretation:
- What the shooter’s aim and any visible impact or hit effect show.
- Where the target is relative to cover at the moment shown.
- How much time passes between the shooter’s view and the target’s damage reaction.
- Whether the shot was fired while riding ARC, the condition in Embark’s confirmed issue.
- Whether evidence beyond one clip supports a reproducible defect or cheating claim.
These checks can help describe a clip more precisely; they cannot establish server state without technical evidence.

Why a clip is not proof of cheating
Embark’s September 30, 2026 anti-cheat statement says suspicious behavior is assessed across multiple instances rather than triggering an immediate ban. As Aleks wrote, “Anti-cheat systems can’t ban a player the moment something looks suspicious. Doing so would create the risk of incorrectly banning legitimate players.” The post also says, “Our team personally moderates videos and streams that clearly violate our policies.”
Embark says clear footage posted online may be reviewed, so a clip can be useful when reporting suspected cheating. But a single clip showing an apparent hit or damage behind cover does not, on its own, prove cheating or rule out other explanations.

What Embark’s telemetry comments tell us
GamesRadar reported that Embark data engineer Mattias Andersson said the studio tracks more than 100 billion events and 30 terabytes of data per day at ARC Raiders’ peak, with data queryable in under two seconds. The report places that peak around November 2025 to February 2026. Andersson said, “We track every bullet in these games,” and, “We want to know who shot first in any encounter.”
Those are historical figures about telemetry scale and query speed, not a guarantee that a public clip can be adjudicated or that the same volume and speed apply now. They also do not provide a measured rate of hit-registration failures.

Embark has not, in the sources cited here, published a technical postmortem explaining the broader player-versus-player complaints. The player discussions are not controlled tests, and they do not establish latency, server tick rate, failure prevalence, or a single networking mechanism. The confirmed riding-ARC issue should therefore be kept distinct from the wider reports.
Embark has also discussed anti-cheat and queue teaming separately from hit registration. In an update after separating identified queue-teaming groups in matchmaking, the studio reported 85% fewer players engaging in that behavior and spoiled raids falling from around 1 in 50 to 1 in 300. Those figures are Embark’s report about queue teaming and raid outcomes; they are not measurements of shots failing to register.

ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce NOW, according to the official site. The platform list provides context, not evidence that the reported clips share one platform-specific cause.
