Plan for roughly 30–45 Wolfpacks to kill a fresh Queen using Wolfpacks alone. The often-repeated figure of 12 is only a theoretical minimum based on maximum listed damage; it is not a dependable in-game kill count.
The practical Wolfpack count
Current field reports put a grenade-only Queen kill at about 30 to 45 Wolfpacks. One documented fight used around 30, while another required 44. The final number changes with hit placement, the Queen’s armor state, exposed weak points, and whether nearby ARC machines attract some of the missiles.

For planning purposes, bring supplies for the upper end of that range rather than assuming a perfect 30-Wolfpack kill. These figures apply to a fresh Queen, not one already damaged by other players, ARC, or Raiders.

A Wolfpack is listed as splitting into 12 missiles, each dealing 166 damage. That produces a maximum listed damage value of 1,992 per Wolfpack. Dividing the Queen’s listed 23,000 health by 1,992 gives 11.5, which rounds up to 12.

That calculation assumes every missile hits the Queen and deals its full listed damage directly to effective health. In practice, the Queen has Heavy armor, missiles can miss or hit less vulnerable areas, and some can lock onto other ARC machines. Twelve is therefore a mathematical floor, not a realistic stockpile target. See the listed Wolfpack and Queen figures in the Wolfpack database entry and Queen database entry.
How to improve your damage
- Strip the leg armor first. The Queen’s practical weak points include her leg joints. Breaking the armor exposes the yellow joints, giving Wolfpacks a better damage target.
- Use the core when it is exposed. The core is another listed weakness and becomes exposed during the laser sequence. Concentrating attacks there can improve results, but it does not make a fixed Wolfpack count possible.
- Clear or separate nearby ARC. Wolfpack missiles home onto ARC within roughly 100 metres. Nearby machines can receive missiles intended for the Queen, reducing the damage from each throw.
- Coordinate throws after weak points open. A concentrated volley against exposed joints or the core is more useful than scattering grenades while the Queen’s armor is still intact.
With armor stripped and throws consistently placed on exposed weak points, reported kills have dropped into the high teens or low 20s. Those results are best treated as favourable outcomes, not a consistently reproducible requirement.

Where the Queen appears
The Queen is encountered during Harvester events when the relevant map modifier is active. Current database listings include Dam Battlegrounds, The Spaceport, and The Blue Gate as locations. The ARC Raiders Atlas Queen listing provides the corresponding encounter reference.

The current listed recipe is:
- 1× Explosive Compound
- 2× ARC Motion Core
- 1× Rocketeer Driver
- Explosives Station 3
- Wolfpack Blueprint
Do not rely on the older recipe claiming that a Wolfpack costs three Explosive Compounds and two ARC Motion Cores. That version is from an older database listing. The recipe changed in the February 2026 Shrouded Sky update: Embark added one Rocketeer Driver and removed two Explosive Compounds. The Wolfpack’s damage capability was not reduced. Reports on the change were covered by PC Gamer and Embark’s explanation reported by PC Gamer.

Recommended preparation
- For a Wolfpack-only attempt, budget for 30–45 grenades.
- Bring extra materials if the fight takes place near other ARC or in a crowded lobby.
- Prioritize leg armor and exposed yellow joints before spending large volleys.
- Use the exposed core during the laser sequence when a clear shot is available.
- Reduce the count if the Queen has already taken substantial damage from other sources, but do not treat the reduction as predictable.
Bottom line
The useful answer is 30–45 Wolfpacks for a fresh Queen when relying on Wolfpacks alone. Twelve only works on paper, using maximum tooltip damage and perfect missile connections. Weak-point targeting, armor stripping, and preventing nearby ARC from drawing missiles can lower the requirement, but no single exact count applies to every fight.
