For error-specific failures, use the matching repair below rather than relying on outdated advice such as the Steam “Local Files” tab or a -dx11 launch option.
Embark’s Store Update 1.40.0, dated August 4, 2026, says PC launch error codes are still under investigation, so there is no universal patch-based fix. Live Update 1.39.0 did fix a startup crash after the photosensitive-warning screen, but other launch and crash problems remain possible.
First, identify what is failing
- Crash in the menu or while loading: begin with Raider Voice, driver, DirectX, Windows, and file checks.
- Black, frozen, or endlessly loading screen: try administrator mode, a reboot, background-process cleanup, and antivirus exclusions.
- EAC error 30005: restart first, then exclude the EAC folder from antivirus scanning.
- “Maximum simultaneous game instances reached”: end the hidden ARC Raiders process or reboot to clear the EAC driver state.
- ARAV or system-integrity error: remove conflicting tools, check Windows security requirements, and reinstall if the files were altered.
- Lower-than-usual FPS without a crash: update or, if necessary, roll back the graphics driver.
Before troubleshooting, confirm that your PC meets the game’s requirements. The minimum target is Windows 10 or later, a Core i5-6600K or Ryzen 5 1600, 12 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti, RX 580, or Arc A380 for Low settings at 1080p/60 fps. The recommended tier uses a Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, and an RTX 2070, RX 5700 XT, or Arc B570 for High settings at 1440p/60 fps. Every listed tier requires DirectX 12. Quick fixes for menu crashes, loading crashes, and CTDs
1. Disable Raider Voice (Beta)
Embark specifically identifies Raider Voice (Beta) as a possible cause of crashes for some players. If you can reach the settings menu, disable it and restart the game. If the game crashes before you can change the setting, continue with the driver and file checks below.

2. Update every relevant driver
Update the GPU driver first, then check chipset, CPU, motherboard or BIOS, monitor, network adapter or modem, and peripheral drivers. To identify your graphics card:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
dxdiagand press Enter. - Open the Display tab.
Embark points players to AMD Auto-Detect Tool, Intel’s driver-detection tool, and NVIDIA GeForce Experience. If the problem began immediately after a graphics-driver update, rolling back to the previous driver is also an officially listed option. Update Windows and DirectX as well.
3. Verify the Steam installation
Use Steam’s current interface:
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click ARC Raiders and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
The tab is now called Installed Files, not “Local Files.” Steam will check the installation and redownload damaged or missing files when necessary.
Fix a frozen, black, or stuck loading screen
For a game that hangs rather than immediately closing, Embark recommends the following sequence:

- Restart the PC.
- Install pending Windows updates.
- Run ARC Raiders as administrator.
- Close non-essential background processes.
- Whitelist Easy Anti-Cheat and ARC Raiders in Windows Defender or your third-party antivirus.
- Reinstall the game if the loading failure continues.
To run the game as administrator, right-click its shortcut, select Properties, open Compatibility, enable Run this program as an administrator, then select Apply and OK.
Embark’s loading guidance names both EasyAntiCheat.exe and ARC Raiders for antivirus whitelisting. Add exclusions only for trusted installation files and do not leave security protection disabled permanently.
Clean-boot Windows to find software conflicts
Overlays, macro utilities, monitoring tools, and other background software can interfere with launch or anti-cheat checks. A clean boot temporarily starts Windows with non-Microsoft services and startup items disabled.
- Press Windows + R.
- Enter
msconfigand press Enter. - On Services, check Hide all Microsoft services.
- Select Disable all.
- Open the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager.
- In Task Manager’s Startup apps list, disable enabled items.
- Close Task Manager, select OK in System Configuration, and restart.
Microsoft warns that a clean boot can temporarily remove normal functionality. Restore the original startup settings after testing. If ARC Raiders works in a clean boot, re-enable items in groups until the conflicting program is identified.

Pay particular attention to macro tools, overclocking software, injectors, custom overlays, virtual machines, NVIDIA Profile Inspector, auto-clickers, scripts, AutoHotkey, and Cheat Engine. Current ARC Raiders integrity guidance identifies these categories as possible triggers for anti-cheat or system-integrity errors.
EAC error 30005
Error 30005 means the Easy Anti-Cheat service could not start because an EAC file is locked by another program, commonly antivirus software.
- Restart the PC.
- If the error returns, add this folder to your antivirus exclusion list:
C:Program Files (x86)EasyAntiCheat_EOS - Also whitelist
EasyAntiCheat.exeand ARC Raiders as described in the loading-screen fix.
ARC Raiders uses more than one anti-cheat layer. Denuvo Anti-Cheat has been enforced for all players since the May 2026 update rollout, while Easy Anti-Cheat remains involved in documented PC launch checks. Guides describing EAC as the game’s only anti-cheat are outdated.
Current Embark documentation does not publish an official command-line repair sequence for ARC Raiders EAC. Avoid treating service deletion, registry cleanup, manual driver copying, or an unverified EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe command as official fixes.

“Maximum simultaneous game instances reached”
This message can appear when the game is still running in the background even though its window has disappeared.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find the ARC Raiders process.
- Right-click it and choose End task.
- Launch the game again.
If no ARC Raiders process is visible, perform a full system reboot. Embark says this is required when the EAC driver state remains active without a visible game process.

ARAV8007 indicates that the game detected unexpected changes to its file structure. Embark’s prescribed repair is a complete folder deletion followed by a fresh installation:
- Open the Steam common folder, normally:
C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon - Delete the ARC Raiders folder.
- Reinstall ARC Raiders through Steam.
Your Steam library may be on another drive, so use that library’s actual common folder if the default path does not exist.

For broader integrity errors, check Windows Security → Device security → Core isolation → Memory integrity, enable Secure Boot where applicable, and install current Windows updates. Virtual machines are prohibited by the current integrity guidance. NVIDIA Profile Inspector, auto-clickers, scripts, AutoHotkey, and Cheat Engine can also trigger detections. Do not launch the game with cheat or injection tools active; the published guidance warns that continued launches with Cheat Engine active can lead to permanent sanctions.
How to perform a clean reinstall
If verification, drivers, antivirus exclusions, and a clean boot do not help, use Embark’s full reinstall procedure rather than only reinstalling through Steam:
- Open Settings → Apps.
- Find and uninstall ARC Raiders.
- Delete
C:Program FilesEmbark Studios. - Press Windows + R, enter
%localappdata%, and press Enter. - Delete
Embark StudiosARC Raiders. - Empty the Recycle Bin.
- Restart the PC.
- Download ARC Raiders again.
- Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.
If another Embark game is installed, do not delete the entire Embark Studios folder. Delete only the ARC Raiders subfolder.
What not to try
-dx11: the official requirements specify DirectX 12, and current ARC Raiders or Steam support material does not document a DX11 bypass switch.- Old “Local Files” instructions: use Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files instead.
- Assuming Update 1.40.0 fixed every launch crash: its notes say PC launch error codes remain under investigation.
- Deleting anti-cheat services or editing the registry: these procedures are not part of Embark’s current ARC Raiders instructions.
When the problem is a performance drop rather than a crash
If ARC Raiders still launches but suddenly runs at lower FPS, update the graphics driver first. Update 1.36.0 recorded a PC issue involving lower-than-usual FPS and advised updating the GPU driver or rolling back to a previous driver if the problem persisted. This is separate from a crash fix, so do not assume a clean reinstall will solve a driver regression.

When to contact support
Contact Embark support after the documented steps fail, especially if you receive a repeatable error code, an ARAV detection you cannot explain, or a launch crash that survives a clean boot and reinstall. Include the exact code, when the crash occurs, your Windows and driver versions, your GPU model, and whether verification or a clean reinstall changed the behavior. As of the 1.40.0 release notes, Embark was still investigating PC launch error codes, so some failures may require a game-side fix rather than another local repair.
